The ones that Amelia’s husband brought with him were clearly thugs.
They weren’t just any thugs though, they were thugs that seemed to at least have some idea of what they were doing.
Which meant that they should have had experience doing something like this before.
With the way that they were hanging out around the inn, it didn’t really draw anyone’s attention. Though in the first place, their appearances made others avoid them since they didn’t want to get into any trouble.
As the sun set, the thugs finally made their move.
Since they were being led by Amelia’s husband, they were able to enter through the back of the inn without any problems.
But they didn’t do what I thought they would do.
Instead, they used the lowest IQ solution to solve their problem.
"What do you think you’re...Mmph." That was all that Amelia was able to say before she was overpowered and grabbed.
During this time, Amelia’s husband had been harassing the staff of the inn so that they wouldn’t check on Amelia.
Once they had captured Amelia, they turned to leave.
Only when they did this, it seemed like Amelia’s husband wanted to stop them.
He was pointing up at the suite that we were currently staying in as if there was something that he wanted from the thugs. It was just that the thugs refused to do anything about this.
It was clear that they didn’t listen to him.
They were nothing more than thugs that had been led here by him, but he wasn’t the one that was in charge. He was nothing more than their tool to get to Amelia.
So in the end, Amelia’s husband wasn’t able to command them at all.
At the same time, it seemed like he was too scared to do anything on his own.
"Watch over her." I said to the Fenrir who was currently on the bed with Dorothy.
She looked at me as if she didn’t want to be left behind, but it wasn’t as if I could leave Dorothy all on her own. So the only thing that I could do was order her to stay behind to watch over her.
If she received an order, the Fenrir would follow it even if she wasn’t happy.
With the power of the wind spirits, I was able to easily track where these thugs were going.
At the same time, I could even hear their whispers.
"What do you think she’ll be worth?"
"Does that matter? This isn’t something for you to think about."
"All we have to do is bring her to the boss and let him decide."
During this time, Amelia’s husband kept saying, "I’ve kept my part of the bargain, you will let me go, right? She should be worth more than enough to repay all of my debts."
He didn’t even bother hiding this from Amelia who had broken out in tears because of his words.
I knew from the game that he was just this kind of person.
He might have been an upstanding person in the past, but this kind of addiction was not something that one could overcome that easily. It had a way of corroding the mind until they weren’t able to think properly anymore.
It wasn’t as if I had experienced it personally, but I had seen a relative suffer from this before.
So I was certain that Amelia’s husband wouldn’t have changed, even without the game telling me this already.
This group continued through the city until they came to a part of it that wasn’t as reputable. This was a part that could even be considered a slum, but this was more a place for shady business.
So it was natural that the thugs came here.
When they arrived, it seemed like there were a few others that were interested in them as well. Or it was better to say that they were interested in Amelia who they were carrying.
After all, her beauty wasn’t anything to scoff at.
It was even quite amazing that her husband had been able to get with her to begin with.
But some people were just different in the past.
In the end, the thugs chased off all of the ones that seemed to step forward.
They didn’t even have to fight them, all they had to do was flash the symbol that was on their weapons. The moment that the ones that tried to surround them saw this symbol, they were immediately terrified.
This symbol seemed to have a deep meaning to it that they couldn’t ignore.
It seemed that the group that these thugs belonged to wasn’t weak at all.
It seemed that they were quite influential in this place.
This was further proven by the base that they had.
It was definitely a step up compared to the other buildings, but it certainly wasn’t that much better considering the place that it had been built in.
I followed behind them as they went in.
Since I had learned quite a bit of magic, it was easy to hide myself with illusion magic and follow them without them noticing a thing. In fact, I might have been able to walk right up to them and they wouldn’t have noticed me.
That was how developed my illusion magic had become.
This building wasn’t that big, so we soon met the boss and he was someone that screamed that he was a bad guy. After all, this was a bulky man that had a scar right across his face.
If he wasn’t a bad guy, it was hard to imagine what he was.
However, this wasn’t a person that I recognized.
The boss should have been a completely different person...or at least that was how it was in the game.
"That husband must have borrowed quite a bit from quite a few people. It’s amazing that he was able to survive all this time." I couldn’t help commenting when I saw all of this.
