Afterword
Hello! This is Tappei Nagatsuki! Also the mouse-colored cat!
In the last volume, we charged into the seventh arc, and it has been an arc of new and different developments, but hopefully you have enjoyed it.
Sent flying from the tower in the sands all the way to the empire to the south, in a new land without any familiar characters, Subaru is feverishly rushing hither and thither with a cold Rem. Those who read all the way to the end of this volume witnessed the appearance of one familiar face at the end, and I hope your heart is racing in anticipation of what will come. Because I am, too!
As I mentioned in the last volume, the gap between the web version of Re:ZERO and the books is practically nil! That means only the author and God know what comes next. And depending on how things go, it might only be God.
But it is also true that I feel satisfaction as an author at having finally reached the developments I’ve been wanting to do. If it feels like my pen was flowing particularly smoothly this time, then I will be glad!
But it is a series of difficult situations in which Subaru can’t afford to be smiling, so I hope you will continue to watch over this series, this author, and Subaru Natsuki as he continues to experience terrible situations.
As ever, the page length looms, so allow me to move on to the usual thanks!
To my editor I, what happened to my resolve from last time? I am so sorry for pushing up against the deadlines again this time! My intention is to work seriously and consistently on the next one…!
To the illustrator, Otsuka, thank you for all the new characters again this time! I was just fresh off the farm, but thanks to your illustrations, I might be promoted to a regular…I think! I look forward to your work with the lively and varied empire cast in the next volume, too!
To the designer, Kusano, thank you for taking the scene from the road and working it up just beautifully! That feeling of being on the road might just continue in the seventh arc!
In manga news, Atori and Aikawa’s adaptation of the fourth arc is ongoing in Gekkan Comic Alive. Tsubata Nozaki’s Love Ballad of the Sword Devil and Minori Tsukahara’s The Frozen Bond in Manga UP! are both reaching their climaxes. Thank you all so much!
And to everyone else at MF Bunko J’s editorial department, the proofreader, and all the bookstores, thank you very much for all your work. I’ll be in your care next time as well!
And finally, my greatest thanks to all the readers who continue to support this series!
I hope you will follow along with this new arc woven from new encounters and new difficulties!
May we meet again in the next volume! Thank you!
June 2021
<<Even with the end of a busy month, the busyness never ends>>
“So technically this is the combo from the cover. Me and…”
“Me! Apparently, if we work hard, we’ll get lots of meat as a reward!”
“This doesn’t come with any reward that obvious…but you tell me to get it done and I’ll get it done, whether it’s announcements or infiltrations.”
“Kuna, you did so much! Talitta did, too, working so hard without stopping.”
“I wouldn’t say there was no stopping, but… Right, we have to do the announcement.”
“Oh yeah! The next book after this is scheduled to be Re:ZERO Ex, Vol. 5 in September.”
“Supposedly it digs deeper into what’s going on around the empire. Probably because that woman who showed up right at the end came out of nowhere and surprised everyone.”
“But, you know, if she wasn’t there, Subaru and Rem would have been turned into meatballs.”
“So it’ll explore why those two didn’t end up minced meat.”
“Ohhh, I see. Ah! Also, there are other announcements, too. Shinichirou Otsuka, who provides the illustrations for Re:ZERO, has a second Re:ZERO art book going on sale!”
“There were a bunch of illustrations that couldn’t fit in the first one. It’s the same for this book, but isn’t Otsuka having to work too hard on Re:ZERO?”
“The preorders start on June twenty-fifth, so be sure to reserve your copy and check out all of Otsuka’s beautiful pictures. I want to make sure all that hard work gets rewarded.”
“I doubt everything will fit into this book, either, so show your support and there can also be a third art book. If any pictures of us make it in, that’s where they would show up.”
“Oh, also, Emilia’s birthday event…is already happening! We don’t really know who Emilia is, though.”
“From what I’ve heard, she’s got some connection with Subaru. Even though he already has Rem and Louis. Men are just like that, I guess.”
“Uh-oh, Kuna’s starting to grumble. You really are the same as ever.”
“Who asked you?! There will be more details to come later! Anyway, just remember that it’s happening!”
“That’s right! That’s all the announcements.”
“Sheesh, I’m tired… Why is everyone making me do everything?”
“I’m sure it’s because everyone knows how reliable you are. But I’m the one who relies on you the most, so don’t forget.”
“You didn’t need to say that! Hurry up and let’s go!”
“Kuna, it’s cute how you get embarrassed.”
