"Boss, what do you think?" One of the thugs asked when the boss came over.

But the only response that he received was a slap to the back of the head.

The boss glared at him and made him cower before turning to Amelia to say, "I’m sorry for the rough way that my boys treated you. It was my fault for not giving them proper instructions."

The thugs looked awkward hearing this, but they still apologized to Amelia in the end since it was what their boss wanted.

The one that really seemed lost was Amelia’s husband.

He couldn’t understand what was happening and he was afraid of something.

He was afraid that the boss would abandon him and take the side of his wife.

After all, he was nothing more than a debtor in this situation.

However, Amelia didn’t really have a good view of any of these people in the first place. Even if she knew that it would be beneficial to her to get on the good side of the boss of this place, this simply wasn’t something that she could do.

As such, she just glared at the boss without saying anything.

"It seems like I’ve made a bad first impression on you. I apologize for that, but this is a matter of business between your husband and me."

The boss went over to Amelia’s husband and put his arm around his shoulder.

Though Amelia’s husband trembled when he felt this arm come around him, he didn’t resist in the end. It wasn’t as if he was able to resist even if he wanted to resist this hand coming around him.

After all, the amount of money that he owed to this person...

No matter what this person wanted to do to him, there was nothing that Amelia’s husband could do in return.

Once he put his arm around Amelia’s husband, the boss turned back to look at Amelia and said, "Your husband here has borrowed quite a bit of money from me."

With a snap of his fingers, one of his subordinates brought over something that seemed to be a contract.

Amelia looked at it and narrowed her eyes.

Even though she knew that there was no way that this contract was legal, it was a fact that her husband had signed this and had even stamped with his finger print.

While she didn’t know who these thugs and this boss were, she knew that they would have connections and power. So even if she went to the guards, it wasn’t as if they would be able to do anything to help her.

So the only thing that she could do now was...

"How much is it?"

Though there was an amount on the contract that her husband signed, Amelia knew that this wasn’t the real amount that the debt would be at. After all, there would be the hidden interest clauses that would push this debt to an exorbitant amount.

That was why she was waiting to see just how much it would become.

The boss revealed a faint smile when he heard this.

He had an appreciation for women who were smart, but that didn’t mean that he liked women who were too smart for their own good. When they were too smart for their own good, then it would be a problem for him.

So he just said, "A thousand silver."

The amount that was on the contract was only a hundred silver, but now he was calling a price that was ten times that.

Amelia immediately knitted her brows when she heard this, but she didn’t say anything in response.

Eventually, she turned to glare at her husband, but it didn’t seem like he cared at all.

It seemed like the only thing that he cared about was how to pay off his debt.

Whether that was with money or something equivalent to money.

So in the end, Amelia said with a sigh, "It’ll take some time to gather that money, but it can be done as long as you’re willing to give me some time."

A faint smile appeared on the boss’ face when he heard this before he shook his head and said, "Unfortunately, there are some opportunities that I want to invest in and I don’t have the time to wait. If you can’t pay with money, we can always arrange for other ways to pay."

As he said this, his eyes went to Amelia’s body.

Amelia was bound up, so it wasn’t as if there was anything that she could do to stop him.

But she certainly didn’t enjoy the glance that he cast in her direction as he said this.

It was as if she didn’t want any part of his gaze on her.

"I can pay, I just need a little time." Amelia said once more.

The boss just shook his head before saying, "Unfortunately, we have a contract and we can’t really wait. So I guess we have no choice but to go with alternative methods of payment. Not to mention, you’re not the one that this contract was made with."

Looking at Amelia’s husband that he was holding, he asked, "I don’t think that you have any objections to our method of payment, right?"

He shook his head to confirm this.

At that, the boss turned back around to look at Amelia with a smile before saying, "As you can see, we have an agreement with your husband. As such, there’s nothing else that we need to say."

Amelia looked like there was more that she wanted to say, but the boss didn’t give her a chance as he snapped his fingers and said, "Boys, get her into something more comfortable. I want to sample our product before she has her first customer."

The thugs all revealed smiles when they heard this before reaching their hands out towards Amelia.

The way that their fingers moved showed their intent.

Only none of them were able to reach Amelia in the end as there was a wall of flames that appeared around her.
