"Well, it’s complicated because they’re a family." I said in response.
Dorothy looked at me with a confused look when she heard this.
Seeing this, I explained, "Well, families are complicated because relationships between families are complicated. Take the two of us, we’re family even though we’re not blood related, right?"
Though I made sure to say this in a low voice so that no one else could hear us.
Dorothy slowly nodded in response.
"Well, then how would you feel if I were to suddenly change one day?"
Dorothy’s expression changed, but it didn’t seem like she was able to process what I said completely.
Even if she was a smart child, this was the kind of thing that she really understood with her lack of understanding of interpersonal relationships.
So she really couldn’t seem to imagine what that would be like.
"Say that I become a drunk like that man one day, what would you think?"
A sad look appeared on Dorothy’s face when she heard this.
She looked at me in a complicated way for a bit before finally saying, "I would try to support you and hope that you would turn back to who you were before."
I gave a nod in response to this before saying, "Then isn’t that what they’re feeling as well?"
Dorothy slowly turned to look at the door that Amelia and Olivia had disappeared behind.
I didn’t say anything as I watched the expression on her face slowly change.
From this, I could tell that she was slowly getting the idea.
After a while, she gave a nod to show that she understood.
I patted her on the head before saying, "So now that you understand how they feel, do you think that they would want to see someone beating up the person that they care about? Even if we help, do you think that they will be happy?"
Dorothy’s expression changed once more until she looked distressed.
It was as if she had realized that she had done something wrong and wanted to apologize for it.
But I stopped her by saying, "It’s fine since you’re a child. A child is simple and has an excuse to go help like that. I also had an excuse since you went forward, so I was able to help as well. But you should be aware of these things in the future. Even if we want to help, it isn’t as if we would be doing the right thing by interfering. Sometimes it’s better to wait and see what happens before interfering."
Dorothy looked a bit lost when she heard this before she said, "Families really are complicated, aren’t they?"
The way that she said this was as if she was someone that couldn’t really understand the concept of families. But then again, she never had a family until she was rescued and brought back by me.
"You have plenty of time to learn. For now, just eat and grow." I said while patting her on the head again.
Then I didn’t say anything else as I turned to the others that were at the table and joined their conversation.
They had heard that we were having a father daughter talk, so they had been kind enough to leave us alone.
But when I went back to talk to them, they started gossiping with me as well.
The one thing that they were very interested in was naturally Amelia’s husband.
They praised me for going in to help, but they also told me the story behind him so that I would understand what kind of situation they were in. It seemed like they really wanted me to know so that I could get a better picture of everything.
I listened to them, but I already knew most of the things that they told me.
Well, it wasn’t as if I had obtained this information previously.
It was just that this was the same scenario as in the game.
There had been other things like this where this world was based on the game world and things remained the same, but this time it really was the same.
The only difference was that it had been sped up a bit, but I knew that the reason for this was because of my interference.
If I didn’t show myself, then things wouldn’t have escalated this far this quickly.
It would have taken some time before things got this far.
After finishing our dinners, I took Dorothy upstairs and waited.
After all, I had seen the way that Amelia’s husband had glared at me earlier when he left.
I knew that someone like him wouldn’t leave things as they were.
Since he had made up his mind, there was no doubt that he would try to finish this.
If he did, then I would show him what I would be capable of.
Dorothy actually fell asleep while we were waiting, but that was a good thing.
After all, it was hard for me to act if I had to watch out for her as well.
I had placed several spells around this inn after what happened in the afternoon and it was easy for me to notice when people approached the inn. Most of the time it was just people who came to eat.
However, there was a group that immediately triggered a warning.
After all, they were clearly here with bad intentions.
They were just waiting outside as if they were waiting for something specific.
But I knew that there was someone that was leading them and it wasn’t a surprise to find who it was.
In fact...
"As expected, he really didn’t drop it."
This was something that should have happened in the game since this was part of Olivia’s recruiting event, but it certainly wouldn’t have happened this quickly.
The only reason that it was moved up was because of my interference.
"So how do I want to get involved in this? If I do it wrong, I won’t be able to recruit her."
