Epilogue

“…What’s this?”

Astaroth holds out a single report to Lilith, one from the pile she had been sorting through.

“That’s Alice’s proposal. It’s a marvel of logic and practicality.”

At Lilith’s cheerful response, Astaroth lightly massages her own forehead.

“But this type of work… This is something Heroes should be doing. It’s unbecoming for members of an evil organization.”

“Now, now. This’ll give our Combat Agents plenty to do once we finish conquering Earth. It’s not a bad proposal. Besides, once we drive off the competition and corner that market, we can then turn around and invade the planet ourselves. Until then, why not just send a few Combat Agents and focus our efforts on consolidating our hold on Earth.”

Astaroth begrudgingly responds to Lilith’s proposal

“…I suppose we have no choice. Looks like the conquest of Earth will take a while longer anyway, since the holdouts are being a bit more stubborn than anticipated. Not to change the subject, but…” Astaroth turns her gaze to a corner of the conference room. “Combat Agent F18! Combat Agent F19! You know why you’ve been summoned, yes?”

“Please wait, Lady Belial! It was the Chosen One’s fault this time! I was busy carrying out my evil schemes when he showed up to interrupt me!”

“Faustless, you windbag! You weren’t carrying out any evil schemes! It was just some petty crime. Lady Belial, I was only trying to keep him on task!”

Two men stand in front of Belial, making their excuses to the Supreme Leader. One of the men was best described as a mutant, while the other had the unmistakable aura of a Hero.

“Silence! None of this changes the fact you were fighting each other. You know internal conflict is forbidden. Also, get it through your thick skulls. He’s not the Chosen One anymore, he’s Combat Agent F18. And he’s no longer ‘whatever of the Wind,’ he’s Combat Agent F19! If you keep going on about Chosen Ones, you’ll end up an irredeemable weirdo like Agent Six! As for this ‘of the Wind’ nonsense, you only get to use titles like that if you’re a Supreme Leader. Understood?”

““Y-yes ma’am!”” the pair of trainees answer in unison, snapping off a sharp salute.

“……Just what are those two? That one reminds me of a Hero, and the other seems like a mutant.”

“Them? From what Belial was saying, they suddenly appeared on her lawn and started brawling. As the story goes, she smacked both of them until they shut up, then recruited them as Combat Agent trainees. From what F19 said, he was trying to teleport to Something-Something of the Flames but wound up on Belial the Great Flame’s lawn instead…or some such nonsense.”

……

“So Belial’s started bringing in stray heroes and mutants instead of just cats and dogs? …First, Agent Six says he wants to stay on that planet and now this. What’s gotten into them……?”

“…From the reports, it sounds like there are a lot more women than men on that planet due to the war. And almost all those women are gorgeous by our standards. I want to head over there, too. There are too many tempting things on that planet. It’s a whole new world!”

Lilith’s breathing becomes a bit labored toward the end of her speech as she walks out of the room.

“…H-he’ll come home eventually, right? He’s not going to get married over there and insist on staying, is he? …B-Belial, I’ll leave the reports here. Lilith, Agent Six will come back, right?!”

Astaroth dumps the sheaf of reports on the desk and hurries off after Lilith.

 [Final Report]

Successfully acquired local base of operations.

Ready to accept Combat Agents and mutants.

Due to his own insistence, Combat Agent 6 will continue carrying out his survey assignment.

Discovered solution to the shortage of assignments for Combat Agents after conquest thanks to Agent 6’s suggestion.

The proposed solution to the Combat Agent assignment shortage is detailed in attachment titled “Combatant Temporary Service Dispatch Project.”

Current local conditions means invasion plans should be put on hold at this time.

Recommend invading only after local competitors are eliminated.

Currently, approximately 80 percent of this planet remains unexplored and undeveloped. As detailed in separate report, there are a large number of mysterious geographic features such as ancient ruins and giant forests that require further study.

Can confirm the presence of anomalous artifacts that exceed current Earth technology.

Considering all factors noted above, final recommendation is to begin planning a conservative invasion and exploration plan.

End report.
