"You… I… I can’t believe this is happening," Azurea finally snapped, unable to control her emotions.
"You fucking braindead shark, can’t you see that the bastard is tricking you? How can you just accept him as your brother? He… he’s a bloody liar and a cheat!" she yelled, her fury palpable.
As she spoke, Azurea transformed into her true dragon form, surrounding herself with a potent draconic aura.
Under normal circumstances, the azure dragoness wouldn’t have interfered in Eren’s schemes. After all, she didn’t care if he made any random person his brother.
However, she could not allow him and the sea monster to form an alliance. Forget the threat it would pose to the Raashim Temple and Shir—if Eren and the sea monster joined forces, it would become nearly impossible for dragonkind to reclaim control over Labh Salem’s seas. She couldn’t let that happen.
Although the Raashim Temple and Shir were troublesome to deal with, she and her elder sister could still cooperate with them. Things remained manageable when the alliance between dragonkind and the Templars was based on equality.
But what could dragonkind do if Eren and the sea monster took control of the seas? First of all, they were already enemies with the sea monster. There was no chance he would let them form an alliance with him.
Looking at Marina’s situation, Azurea could tell that Eren was interested in forging ties with dragonkind. But would the sea monster even consider Eren’s proposal?
And even if he did, would the terms be as accommodating as those they had with the Raashim Temple? Azurea didn’t think so.
The sea monster held overwhelming strength. When one side had a significantly larger fist, there was no true alliance—only submission, which translated to compromise. And if that happened, it would be dragonkind who would have to lower their heads before Eren and the sea monster.
The sea monster narrowed his eyes at Azurea as she revealed her true form, a vortex of anger and hate brewing in his gaze. He had never held a good impression of her to begin with. But before he could say anything, it was Eren who stepped forward to confront her.
"Miss Azurea, I’m kinda hurt that you would call me a liar."
Eren turned around and placed a hand over his heart, as if shocked and displeased that someone would accuse him without reason.
"Aren’t you a liar?" Azurea scoffed.
"I’ve never seen a Grand Knight (the epithet for a Grandmaster Ranker in Labh Salem) lie as blatantly as you do. You act as if you came here to rescue that psycho shark, when in reality, you came to steal Shir’s followers and crown yourself the new demigod-in-charge of Baga Island.
Don’t think I’m unaware of your little schemes. You want to use that shark in your fight against Shir so you can take over his territory. After all, you both wield water-element God Sparks. You’re just looking for a way to devour everything Shir has for yourself."
Azurea smirked viciously, the cunning gleam in her draconic eyes sharp as daggers.
The sea monster also turned a suspicious gaze toward Eren. Although it was clear that Eren and his forces were fighting against the Raashim Temple, he couldn’t be certain they were doing it for his sake. Azurea’s words only magnified the doubts that were already lurking in his mind.
This was the disadvantage of the sea monster’s childish psyche for Eren. He could indeed sway the sea monster’s opinion with the right words—but others, like Azurea, could just as easily exploit his mental vulnerability and tear down the trust Eren was trying to build.
However, Eren was not someone who could be outdone in a battle of wits. Instead of denying Azurea’s claims, he chose to embrace them and twist their meaning to his advantage.
"It’s indeed true that I want to claim Shir’s territory for myself," Eren admitted, nodding at Azurea before turning to the sea monster.
"But tell me, brother—what’s wrong with that? Instead of allowing your enemy to remain in power, wouldn’t it be better if your younger brother controlled Labh Salem’s seas?
What’s wrong with joining forces to deal with our common enemies? Like I told you before—your enemies are my enemies, so it’s only natural that mine are yours as well.
So, tell me, brother—is it wrong for us to help each other? Siblings should have each other’s backs. Blood runs thicker than water.
It’s incredibly rare—one in a trillion, I’d say—for someone to inherit the Elder Ichor bloodline and survive the process. Even if the bloodline that you have is unstable and not rooted to your existence, it still makes us brothers.
Perhaps, in this boundless cosmos, you are my only brother. The same goes for you—you only have me to count on.
And secondly, my dear brother, don’t you already have an enmity with the Raashim Temple and Shir? Wasn’t he the one responsible for your unjust imprisonment in the depths of the sea?
Even without my intervention, you would have been Shir’s enemy anyway. I simply came along to lend my brother a hand. Why shouldn’t we make him suffer for what he did to you over the past two hundred years?
I came as soon as I learned of our brotherhood and discovered that you had been caged by the Raashim Temple. That’s why I chose to attack them during the seal-strengthening ritual in the first place—to set you free.
Now that you’re free, wouldn’t you like to work together with the one who set you free to bring down the Raashim Temple?"
Eren’s expression turned serious as he fixed his gaze on the sea monster, waiting for his response.
The sea monster nearly had a brain meltdown as he tried to process Eren’s complex argument. He simply didn’t have enough brain cells left to argue with someone on Eren’s level.
However, as he slowly mulled over Eren’s words, they still made sense to him.
What was wrong with two brothers relying on each other to deal with a common enemy?
