The Sūryaḥ Buddha answered, having already prepared the answers beforehand. “The benefits are endless. You must have been in the Divine Realm for a long time, but you found no clear path of progress. That’s why you entered the Nine Hells Abyss.”

Tianyi blinked from within. That wasn’t exactly true. He had only entered the Divine Realm for a short time, but the Buddha must have misjudged the situation. Still, he didn’t correct the Sūryaḥ Buddha, nor did he affirm it. He just let the Buddha fill in the gap himself.

He didn’t know if the Sūryaḥ Buddha gleaned anything from his silence, but the latter continued. “We are completely capable of guiding you. Of course, we aren’t sure if the Divine Realm is the final realm, but providing a path to the peak of the Divine Realm is still within the realm of possibility. Whether you can reach it or not is up to you and time.”

“Although having this information will save me a lot of detours in the future, it is not enough to bind me to a single force. Not only will I lose my freedom, but I will have to be cautious in the future. My enemies will even threaten your force to hinder me,” Tianyi said. In short, his message was, “Not enough, raise the price.”

The Sūryaḥ Buddha wasn’t too surprised. If Tianyi had really agreed, he’d be suspicious. “Although you would have to protect Buddhism, it also offers protection. If you offend another divinity or even a pantheon, they would have to think twice if they want to pursue the matter. The accumulation of resources will be easier and faster. Although a divinity will inevitably collect resources faster, it still can’t compete with an entire system.”

Compared with other cultivators, Tianyi never had to worry about resources. In his youth, Mengfei provided him with enough treasures to make true immortals and even some immortal monarchs green with envy. Upon entering the Immortal Realm, his Nine Heavens Universe was a treasure trove of unearthed resources, just waiting for him to discover and pluck.

So, the Sūryaḥ Buddha’s offer might be extremely attractive to lone divinities, but it held zero attraction for Tianyi. He wouldn’t reveal this, of course. What Tianyi valued was secret techniques. “Like reaching the peak, accumulating resources is only a matter of time. I want something more substantial. Two divine artifacts.”

The difference between a true immortal artifact and an immortal monarch artifact was similar to the difference between a true immortal and an immortal monarch. Monarch-level artifacts were imbued with worldly laws, and a true immortal holding one could injure an immortal monarch. Like monarch-level artifacts, divine artifacts were also imbued with a divine-level law.

Compared to immortal artifacts, the materials needed for divine artifacts were much more rigorous. One core requirement was realm essence, or world essence as it was more commonly known in the True Nothingness. In a way, realm artifacts could be considered divine artifact seeds. Not every realm artifact could be refined into a divine artifact, but they were the best foundation.

A true immortal or sage could resonate with the worldly law in a monarch artifact, but it was almost impossible for an immortal to activate a divine artifact. The effort and energy required were nearly impossible. Even divinities would need to put in a lot of effort to master a divine artifact imbued with a divine law not of their specialty.

Although it took effort, the results were worth it. If a divinity fought another divinity with a higher mystery, as long as the mystery in their divine artifact had enough depth and energy, it could penetrate the higher mystery of the opposing divinity.

The Sūryaḥ Buddha clapped his hands together and chanted. “Benefactor, the oppression of the Immortal Court prevented us from thriving, causing our resources to be lacking. We do have a few divine artifacts, but they are crucial for the Veda System’s defense. Perhaps in the future, when the Veda System returns to its peak, divine artifacts will be plentiful. As of now, it’s practically impossible to hand one to a newcomer.”

Tianyi didn’t bother exposing the Sūryaḥ Buddha’s lies. Oppressed? When the Immortal Court was still the Buzhou Immortal Sect, Buddhism held a large amount of influence over the myriad realms. They hid themselves, true, but they were definitely above the Numinous Sword Sect.

The Heavenly Immortal Court did suppress Buddhism, but that was only after they upgraded the Huang Realm to the Primordial Realm. Hardly long enough to prevent them from thriving. Don’t think the Immortal Court didn’t know Buddhism was quietly spreading its teachings when the Immortal Court and Numinous Sword Sect warred against the Demon Clan.

“Since you aren’t showing any sincerity, I might as well leave now,” Tianyi said.

The Sūryaḥ Buddha didn’t wait for Tianyi to pretend to leave before speaking. “How can that be? I said it’s impossible right now, but not in the future.”

“So you want me to work for you guys based on a promise alone? I never thought a divinity would be so naïve,” Tianyi retorted.

“It’s impossible to give you a divine artifact, but materials to craft one are still possible. As for the divine artifact, it’ll be possible in the future with enough contribution,” the Sūryaḥ Buddha said.

Tianyi didn’t really expect Buddhism to directly grant him a divine artifact. Even the Heavenly Immortal Court would not make such an investment for a lone divinity they barely knew. Rather than attracting them to join their force, the Heavenly Immortal Court was more likely to form a cooperative relationship.

Of course, if they could entice a lone divinity for a low price, they would absolutely take the gamble.

And so, Tianyi began to haggle with the Sūryaḥ Buddha. It wasn’t something Tianyi was used to, and he threatened to turn around and leave several times. Many times, the Sūryaḥ Buddha stayed stone-cold, forcing Tianyi to turn around and argue again.

By the end, Tianyi was exhausted. It felt even more exhausting than fighting Marquis Decarabia. He didn’t know if he got a good deal, but Tianyi got what he wanted. The materials to craft a divine artifact weren’t his goal. He wanted to browse the scripture repository of Buddhism—or Sutra Repository, as they called it. He didn’t know if Buddhism had a large stock of materials to create divine artifacts, but taking them would weaken them a bit—a nice bonus.

Soon, Tianyi settled down on Mount Sumeru, but he did not leave the UFO Angel.

A few years later, a monk delivered the promised materials, and Tianyi accepted them. The Sūryaḥ Buddha did not require him to make an oath. At the divine level, oaths were useless. Even if the world will of the Veda System was thrice as powerful, it could not kill a divinity. If it were ten times as powerful as the Heavenly Dao of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, a divinity could still escape. As long as the divinity did not foolishly trap himself in the hostile system, the world will was helpless.

Tianyi appraised all the materials. “Hmm, if I conserve a bit, I can make about three divine artifacts if I’m lucky, with some materials left over.”

He didn’t begin refining a divine artifact. Instead, he summoned a monk and had them lead him to the Sutra Repository.

“Benefactor, please shrink. Your current size cannot enter through the doors,” the monk said with his hands in a prayer position.

Tianyi stared at the doors, which were only four meters tall. Many artifacts came with the ability to adjust their size, and UFO Mk II also had this ability, but everything had a certain limit. It was impossible for it to shrink below four meters.

He sighed. It meant that he had to exit the UFO, or perhaps this was the Sūryaḥ Buddha’s plan all along. He would have preferred hiding his disguised form a bit longer, but it didn’t matter much.

Under the astounded eyes of the monk, the UFO deployed landing gears and descended. Then, the sound of shifting parts entered his ears. Soon, a door opened with stairs leading to the ground.

In the end, Tianyi didn’t choose the guise of an Avalonian mage. Instead, he had a thin and sickly pallor. He wore a form-fitting bodysuit covered by a white coat with many pockets. If Sun Wutian saw him, he would have pointed and unceremoniously called him a mad scientist.

The monk was surprised by Tianyi’s human appearance, but he didn’t dare neglect the latter despite the sickly pallor. The monk was a bodhisattva and could feel the invisible sense of oppression. “Please enter, Benefactor.”

Tianyi didn’t even glance at the bodhisattva, keeping his aloof persona, and walked toward the door. The two guarding monks bowed before opening the gates in unison. After entering, he scanned a few books on the first floor. Like the Scripture Repository of the Heavenly Immortal Court, the manuals were all written in books.

His senses had already penetrated throughout the entire Sutra Repository. He could sense several peak bodhisattvas guarding the Sutra Repository, but no Buddha. Were they really not afraid of him stealing the techniques?

After reaching the top floor, Tianyi only sighed. Higher-level techniques were stored in special materials. The Three Thousand Immortal Realms System used jade slips, but the Veda System used bodhi seeds—or rather, the Buddhists used bodhi seeds.

For the divine-level techniques, it only had descriptions and an introduction. To redeem the techniques, he still had to apply. If the application was approved, it would be delivered to him.

Tianyi sighed. He knew it wouldn’t be that easy. He browsed through the techniques on the top floor. To keep his act going, he started with the artificer methods first. After all, he had just received the materials to create a divine artifact. It was only logical for him to prepare for creating one.

After selecting a few artificer methods that interested him, Tianyi browsed the other methods. They included some unique Buddhist cultivation methods. He chose one just to see how the higher levels differed from immortal methods, but was otherwise uninterested.

The deal with the Sūryaḥ Buddha allowed Tianyi to choose several divine-level techniques, so he wouldn’t be polite.

Tianyi continued browsing, wanting to fill his available quota all at once. It was not that he only had one chance, but he thought it was better to use it all at once if possible to prevent any accidents.

He paused his perusal as his eyes halted on one bodhi seed. The card above it read World Fusion Method.

His curiosity piqued, Tianyi picked up the seed and injected his divine sense into it. He originally thought it was a method of fusing two different systems together, or of a larger system absorbing worlds. If that was the case, he could speed up the Primordial Realm’s process and restore it to the Primordial World faster. However, the reality left him stunned.

The World Fusion Method was nothing like Tianyi thought. It involved fusing two worlds, but he had only guessed one of the worlds. One was the target system, and the other was a divine world. Yes, the divine world, the foundation of a divinity.

Like how a cultivator could externalize qi once he reached the Foundation Establishment Realm, a divinity would externalize their divine world and fuse it with the system, turning the system into their divine world. It would no longer be concealed in their bodies but present to all. The benefits were many, but Tianyi didn’t believe it was without downsides.

Still, the World Fusion Method held too high of an allure for Tianyi. If he could succeed, then he would be able to free his mother!
