After taking what he wanted from the treasury, Tianyi returned to Nine Heavens Peak. If you discounted the fact that many reincarnators had gathered in Nine Heavens Peak, it would have seemed the fight with the Concealed Emperor had never happened and that everything had returned to the status quo before the Heavenly Empress appeared.
However, the Concealed Emperor would not think so. The quieter Tianyi became, the more unsettled he was.
“Hmpf, I can’t believe you made such a critical error,” Perfected Huanglong said.
Next to him was Jiang Ziya. Although Eminence Heaven Palace had been relocated to Central Peak, along with many other fragments of the Immortal Court, the forbidden ground did not disappear. It had turned into a miniature realm for the three divinities of the Heavenly Immortal Court. No, it should be three of the four divinities.
“Did you really not sense the Heavenly Dao’s influence when your main body was the Jade Emperor?” Perfected Huanglong questioned.
The Concealed Emperor sighed. “At least, I didn’t sense anything. Or if the main body had sensed anything, he concealed it from us.” The “us” in question were the Concealed Emperor and his fellow clone.”
He sighed again. “Like I said to Nine Heavens, perhaps there is a reason why so many powers did not want to recreate the Heaven Seal. I can still recall Empress Ping’s message when she discovered the presence of the Heaven-Bearing Seal from the alternate timeline.”
“You don’t have to be too hard on yourself, Senior Brother,” Jiang Ziya said. “I heard an interesting phrase from the reincarnator: hindsight is twenty-twenty. It means that you can only see the truth after it has happened. Before then, you are blind.”
“Instead of comforting this buffoon, it’s better to help think of a method to remove the Heavenly Dao’s intrusion into Xi Mengfei,” Perfected Huanglong said. “This is an unstable factor that must be eliminated. Because we did not foresee Xi Mengfei being possessed, we gave Nine Heavens too much freedom, allowing his influence to spread indiscriminately.”
“Even if Senior Brother Huanglong says that, I don’t think we could reject the convenience brought about by Nine Heavens. If we had developed without Nine Heavens’ aid like before his rise, it would have taken at least half a million years to reach this point, and the price paid would have been much higher,” Jiang Ziya said.
The three divinities moved on from the topic, knowing Jiang Ziya’s words rang true.
“It seems like an impossible dilemma,” the Concealed Emperor said. “The Immortal Court has always been against the Heavenly Dao. Since the beginning of the contemporary era, it has done many things to hinder our development. I refuse to believe that it’ll obediently play the role of the Heavenly Empress.”
“Actually, it won’t have to do anything but allow the Heavenly Immortal Court to run normally. As long as it can increase the influence of the Heavenly Dao and plant a seed, it’ll only be a matter of time before the Heavenly Immortal Court becomes a puppet. By then, even our words will have no effect, and we will become its enemies,” Perfected Huanglong said. “After all, the Heavenly Dao is something even our master took seriously. It may not seem to have much power, but its influence is far-reaching.”
“Then do we have to depose the Heavenly Empress?” the Concealed Emperor asked. “Nine Heavens won’t allow it.”
None of the people present were confident in expelling the Heavenly Dao from Xi Mengfei’s body.
“But we should still try. Although the difficulty has increased because she reached the Divine Realm from the Immortal Realms thanks to the Heaven Seal, I doubt we could defeat her if it really came down to it. Not even seven more of us would be enough. Once we fall, wouldn’t the Heavenly Dao have free rein?” Jiang Ziya asked.
The three shared a look and sighed. “We were too anxious to produce results, especially with the pressure brought by the other pantheons.”
Although all three of them were divinities, they had long suppressed the Heavenly Dao’s influence on them through their willpower, but that didn’t mean they had eradicated it. If they die in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, they will still be absorbed and become nutrients for the Heavenly Dao.
“Should we ask the Lord of Way and Virtues for help?” Jiang Ziya asked.
Although his senior brothers didn’t openly balk at his suggestion, neither of them looked like they wanted to accept it.
“Let’s forget visiting the Lord of the Way and Virtues for now. We should go to him only after exhausting our options,” the Concealed Emperor said. Both he and Perfected Huanglong were of the same mind on this opinion.
Jiang Ziya did not say any more. Compared to the longtime divinities like them, he was more open to asking for aid. After all, in his first life, he never even entered the Immortal Realm until his death because of his fate. It was only through the many treasures and external aid that he was able to accomplish his great feat. Although he became a divinity, he was still in the Early Divine Realm, not even Tianyi’s opponent, so he couldn’t convince them physically. Nor could he persuade them, so he just went with the flow.
“Our hope is with the unfinished techniques left behind by Master,” Perfected Huanglong said. Upon seeing the Concealed Emperor staying silent, he asked, “What? Do you have opinions about my words, Jadelight?”
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
The Concealed Emperor shook his head. “No, I was just considering whether or not to invite Nine Heavens. As long as he can see that we are making efforts, he should stay loyal to the Immortal Court and stand on the same side as us. We have to let him see that we are trying.”
“I think it’s not appropriate. He’s an unstable factor. If we give him too much, what if he becomes a white-eyed wolf and bites us?” Perfected Huanglong asked.
“If we don’t bring something out to stabilize him, it’ll only be a matter of time. Don’t forget his talent,” the Concealed Emperor said. “The quieter he is, the more uneasy I feel. Even if he rebels now, it’ll be a catastrophe for the Immortal Court. The hegemony we worked so hard to gain will be destroyed.”
A frown appeared on Perfected Huanglong’s draconic face. “What are our chances of killing him?”
“Infinitely close to zero,” the Concealed Emperor replied. “Even if the Sūryaḥ Buddha appears and Divinity Yanxu is reborn, our chances are still infinitely close to zero. If we had the complete Immortal Exterminating Sword Formation, it might be possible, but now? It’s impossible.”
Silence filled the room. When the Nine Heavens Sovereign—no, when the Nine Heavens Divinity fought against their enemy, they sat back and enjoyed the show, watching the helplessness on their enemies’ faces. Now it was their turn to deal with Tianyi, and they found themselves almost as helpless. No, it might be even worse in some aspects.
“I agree that we need to give Nine Heavens some hope and show that we are putting in effort. We don’t need to show him everything; just one of the techniques left behind by Master should be enough,” Perfected Huanglong said. “Agree or disagree?”
“Agreed,” the Concealed Emperor said.
“Agreed,” added Jiang Ziya.
“Okay, let’s discuss which technique is best to hand over.”
When his fellow reincarnators had arrived, Tianyi had explained the situation to them. He also exposed the dangers of becoming immortal. Originally, he only told a few—those who had reached the Seamless Immortal Realm by themselves without piling resources. He hadn’t explained it earlier because he had not finished the technique to expel the Heavenly Dao’s quintessence and did not want to cause mass panic.
However, he did not care as much now. Although he had already explained that he had found a direction and inspiration for the technique, his words still caused many reincarnators to panic. The main reason Tianyi called them was to ask if they wanted to migrate to his inner universe to avoid the influence of the Heavenly Dao.
Many accepted, such as Gu Chuan. He was a director, and he could film and upload his works on the Xiyinet from anywhere. In his current position in life, he didn’t need to work and could just coast on his past success. He continued filming only to stave off the boredom.
The ones who remained were those linked to a force. Gan Xuehua, for example, refused. She herself wanted to migrate, but the Gan Dynasty could not be moved easily. The rest, like Yan Nie, had confidence in themselves and did not want to hide—at least, not until they were pushed into a corner, and even then, only reluctantly.
Tianyi also gave them the Dream Divinity Script he had developed to see if they could find any inspiration and create their own methods. After that, he let them disperse. It was a few days later that the Concealed Emperor visited him and handed him a technique. It was called Chaos Re-Genesis.
The essence of the technique was to absorb all things and condense them into the primordial seed. The process would destroy everything and return all to nature, including the Heavenly Dao’s quintessence. Once the primordial seed had been achieved, the seed would split, and a sapling would grow out. This tree would become the foundation of divinity—a world tree capable of carrying an entire system.
Tianyi found it eerily similar to how he had entered the Immortal Realm. The process of condensing the black hole resembled the method in Chaos Re-Genesis, and the primordial seed sprouting was akin to the Big Bang. Only, it was not a world tree but a new universe.
The only unfortunate thing was that this was an incomplete technique. It seemed the creator had wanted to create a new method outside the Heavenly Dao’s influence. Still, in terms of difficulty, it exceeded the Ten Heavenly Scripture. He couldn’t make a direct comparison to his Dream Divinity Script, but neither was easy for cultivators to succeed in. It required supreme talent and a bit of luck.
For the next few hundred years, Tianyi focused on perfecting the Dream Divinity Scripture. The core concept was to turn reality into fantasy and then turn it back into reality. These steps essentially turned the matter of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System into a malleable form before transforming it into truth—one that was unique to the user.
Tianyi didn’t know why, but the process was much faster than anything he had done before. It was as if he had been dragging his feet for the past tens of thousands of years. He had an inkling as to why he suddenly progressed so fast: motivation and pressure. If he were not fast enough, it might be too late to save his mother.
He had already accepted that it was impossible to reunite with his mom from his first life; he would not lose his mother again.
Finally, after a thousand years, he finished perfecting the Dream Divinity Script—or rather, the Fantasy Realization Mandate. Although Tianyi said he had perfected it, he needed more people to test it. As a cultivation method, it was very suitable, but if immortals wanted to convert to this method, it would be difficult. Before condensing the spiritual core, it was easy to switch cultivation methods, but it became harder the more advanced the realm the user entered. And it was practically impossible in the Immortal Realm.
After completing it, Tianyi used the Jianmu Immortals as test subjects, promising them freedom if they succeeded. Of course, by freedom, he meant inside his Nine Heavens Universe, where they could never make trouble. However, perhaps he underestimated how immortals perceived time. Although over ten thousand years had passed since the fall of the Numinous Sword Sect, the Jianmu Immortals remained loyal. Only one or two took on the challenge, but they failed.
Helpless, Tianyi released the Fantasy Realization Mandate on the Xiyinet, hoping to see someone succeed. Immortals wouldn’t use this unless they knew the truth about the Heavenly Dao—but even if they did, few would choose to convert their cultivation method.
While waiting for the first immortal cultivator of the Fantasy Realization Mandate, Tianyi searched for other ways to free his mother from the Heavenly Dao’s influence. His search eventually led him to the Nine Hells Abyss.
