Chapter 18
Chapter 18: You’re Joking Right?!
4 weeks (roughly one month) passed since I picked the black fenrir up .
Every day I would bring her food then, when she was done eating, we’d chat a bit… This continued through the last week or so .
During that month, I was with Martha sleeping in her room .
The black fenrir was staying in my room . Even if we could talk normally now, she still seemed unable to completely let her guard down, so we couldn’t sleep together . Additionally, Martha refuses to let me stay close to an ill fenrir . Then there’s Russel, who seems to get really jealous . And when I stay for too long in my room he comes to call me . Which reminds me, I’m still six years old . I guess no one would feel safe leaving a child with a big fenrir . Still, I feel that both Russel and Martha are being overprotective .
Though, I feel that it’s a bit different for Russel…
Before Martha goes to sleep, she always tells me stories . It has always been like that, even before we slept together . One day it was the story of an evil witch who destroyed a whole country, another day it was the story of a hero who had avenged a dragon to protect his country, then a story of a young man who freed the demihumans from slavery . They were uncountable stories .
All of them had one thing in common, they had all been true in this world, tracing back the story of this world would prove it .
And they were all conflicts that had been caused by the humans:
Apparently, the evil witch who had destroyed a country had actually been a kind witch who had made a certain drug, but then the people of the country misused it and brought forth the destruction of their country .
In the end, it was all a big misunderstanding from that country…
The hero who had avenged the dragon, in reality, too never really had any strength . Instead, apparently he had only decapitated the person who had made the dragon mad and walked home after that .
He kind of deserved that though… Isn’t it stupid to start a fight against an opponent who you can’t defeat?
The slavery story I mentioned last, seemed to have been just like that . It hadn’t been changed .
But Martha-san, aren’t those like…stories you would never tell a six years old?
‘Huh? Isn’t your mental age like 20? Then it’s fine!’ But c’mon, that’s not a valid excuse!
Don’t you want a kid to have dreams?
“It doesn’t really matter, does it? It’s better to know everything than not knowing anything . ”
Like I said, that’s not a valid excuse…
Then I got curious . Why does she know all of that?
“Martha, why do you know all of that?”
She told those stories almost like she had been there the whole time .
“Hmm? Well, I guess because I saw all of that happen?”
Huh?
