Even without me saying this, I could already see the look that was in Dorothy’s eyes as she looked down.

It wasn’t just now that her eyes sparkled like this, her eyes had been sparkling during the entire way here.

It was as if she was a girl that was seeing the world for the first time with how excited she was.

That just made me realize that I really didn’t know much about her, but that couldn’t be blamed on me. After what had happened, there really hadn’t been the time to ask her about all of this.

At the same time, we didn’t have time to talk to her since I had been trying to get her out of that place as soon as possible.

This continued until I landed and I walked over with Dorothy beside me.

Since this was a large city that she wasn’t used to, Dorothy even reached her hand out to take mine as if she was afraid.

The moment that she did this, I could feel the chill that was coming from their gazes even more.

It didn’t seem like they were planning on listening to me explain.

Instead, Rose just asked, "Whose child is this?"

The way that she said this while looking at me was as if she had already decided that I was guilty.

It was the same with how the other wives looked at him.

It really didn’t seem like any of them were planning on giving him the chance to say anything.

Seeing them like this really brought a bitter smile to my face, but I really couldn’t say anything since it looked really bad.

"Big sister, why are you looking at big brother like this?"

Dorothy suddenly speaking up like this really didn’t help, but it did draw Rose’s attention away from me.

She narrowed her eyes to look at Dorothy for a bit before saying, "Where did you come from? Where are your parents?"

Dorothy seemed to have realized what the situation was, so she said, "I was saved by big brother from the forces of Destruction. As for my parents..."

Her voice trailed off when she said this as a sad look appeared in her eyes.

Rose and the other wives couldn’t help being a bit taken aback when they heard this, but they didn’t doubt the reaction that Dorothy had. After all, this kind of reaction wasn’t something that could be faked.

Once they saw this, they couldn’t help feeling that they had made some kind of mistake.

They glared at me one more time before Rose said, "I’m sorry, it seems like I’ve asked something that I shouldn’t have asked. Do you want to come to our castle and have some snacks first?"

Hearing snacks being mentioned, Dorothy’s eyes lit up immediately.

Even if she was a genius, she was still a young girl in the end and she could be lured like a young girl could. So when snacks were mentioned, it was obvious that her mood would improve.

She was a cute girl in the first place, so Rose and the other wives smiled when they saw this before leading the way back to the castle.

For now, it seemed that I had survived.

Though from the way that they looked at me from time to time, I could tell that they didn’t drop this matter yet. It was just that for Dorothy’s sake, they were waiting to hear my explanation.

So while we were heading back to the castle, I made sure to organize all of the information that I had.

This would determine my fate in a little while, so I had to make sure that I didn’t say anything wrong.

Once we were back at the castle, Rose arranged for the maids to take Dorothy away to get her some snacks.

Dorothy seemed to hesitate when this happened, but she followed them in the end when she saw me give her a nod.

I was happy to see that she trusted me, but this surely didn’t help my case.

Once Dorothy was gone, Rose said, "Explain yourself, now."

There was no room for discussion in her tone.
