After that big incident, there was no way for the king of the Lockhart Kingdom to keep us any longer.

Though it seemed like they were disappointed and even a bit afraid that I was leaving so soon, there was nothing that they could do to stop us.

The only thing that they could actually do was blame the sly looking noble and his wife for ruining this.

It was also the reason why they were glaring at Ann who was sitting in the middle of a cage.

This was a cage that I had the king of the Lockhart Kingdom prepare for me so that we could transport her back to the Kite Kingdom.

Though if anyone thought about it for a bit, they would realize that this cage didn't seem that reliable in the first place. After all, it wasn't as if the cage alone would be enough to stop someone that was able to create flames like this.

But no one really had the time to think about it since they were worried about their future.

They were worried that because of what happened, the Kite Kingdom…

I didn't say anything else since I knew that it would be impossible to convince the king and the nobles of the Lockhart Kingdom with just my words. The only thing that I could do was send them a form of compensation after this.

After all, it was in their kingdom that I got a bunch of wyverns and a hero unit.

After departing the capital of the Lockhart Kingdom and flying for a bit, we suddenly came to a stop.

With a wave of my hand, we went down to a forest in the lands of the Lockhart Kingdom.

Then I walked over to the cage that Ann was locked up in and opened up the door before asking, "How are you feeling? It must have been awkward traveling in a cage like this, especially since we've been flying the entire time."

She didn't burst into flames or attack at all, she just shook her head and said with a smile, "It's fine, I've had worse when I was working as an adventurer."

I gave a nod in response before reaching my hand out to help her out of the cage.

Ann took that hand and walked out before suddenly stretching her body.

With the burnt clothes that she was wearing…it was hard for me not to stare while she was stretching herself out like this.

All I can say is that I was a man and that was just how it was.

When she was done, Ann looked at me with a serious look before suddenly bowing her head and saying, "Thank you for saving me from him and for letting me take my revenge. I vow that if there's anything that you need, my life is yours from now on."

Then after saying this, she suddenly fell to one knee and bowed her head even deeper as if she was vowing her loyalty to me.

I didn't say anything at first as I just stared at Ann, but then I suddenly said, "Well, I think that you might be too hasty in making this vow. After all, I will be taking your life from you now."

Ann looked up at me and nodded in acknowledgement without any hesitation.

But of course, it wasn't as if I was going to take her life.

She was a valuable hero unit, so she would be one of my trump cards in the future.

What I meant by taking her life was…

I turned back to Klein and gave a nod.

The moment that he saw this, he and the rest of the royal guards suddenly went forward towards the cage. I took Ann's hand and helped her up before moving away from the cage.

With just a single press, the cage snapped under the weight of all of their wyverns.

Then they made sure to trample on it a few times and scatter around the pieces of the cage so that it looked like some kind of crash site.

Once they finished crushing and scattering the different parts of the cage, I turned back to Ann and took out a mask for her.

She took that mask without hesitation and used it to cover up that beautiful face of hers.

This was a rather large mask, so it completely covered up her face.

"From now on, you'll never be able to show your face in public again. This mask will be your entire identity from now on, you'll be nothing more than a masked warrior." I said in a serious tone.

Ann just gave a simple nod in response before moving behind me as if she was placing herself as a guard.

This was what I meant by taking her life.

Simply put, she would have to live as nothing more than a masked warrior from now on and wouldn't be allowed out in public.

After all, there was still the father of the sly looking noble that was in the Sorcery Empire.

While we were able to trick everyone by taking her captive like this, we would be announcing that she had broken free and was currently loose.

Simply put, we were pinning everything on Ann and hiding her away.

This was certainly a harsh price to pay, but it didn't seem like she had any regrets.

In that case, there was nothing else that I had to say.

I had no regrets either since I had gotten all the things that I wanted.

No, to say that there were no regrets at all was a lie.

Or it was better to say that there was something that I was worried about.

After all, I knew that I wouldn't be able to sweep things under the rug after going home.

I could even tell that Klein and the others were clearly planning on snitching on me…

So there was a part of me that didn't want to go home now…
