Mazemonogatari

This is something that I identified a long time ago. One of the most complicated things to do in mystery novels is that you cannot write true human beings. And readers may not fully understand why. That's a thing one comes to understand when writing novels, not just reading them. Something that you can only experience when you start writing. If you try to think about it, you may understand this particular feeling when thinking things like "this great detective can't exist" or "this mysterious person can't be real". That also happens when a character is introduced for the sole purpose of being killed. Or when an author creates a scene just to draw a reaction from the audience. Or when you increase the number of suspects for the sole purpose of selecting one. This is the difference between writing human beings and writing characters. Recently, people are starting to point out this issue. Rather than writing traditional mystery novels, they transform human beings into characters. This is making the novels more lively, isn't it?

This book gathers short stories that were written for the animated movie "Kizumonogatari". The first part of the short stories was distributed for "Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu-hen" and is composed of "Chapter Oblivion - Kyouko Balance", "Chapter Strong - Jun Build", "Chapter Law - Nomi Rule" and "Chapter Sight - Mayumi Red Eye". The second part was distributed for "Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu-hen" and is composed of "Chapter Illness - Kuroneko Bed", "Chapter Blood - Risuka Blood", "Chapter Sword - Hitei Clear" and "Chapter Murder - Iori Fugue". The third part was distributed for "Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu-hen" and is composed of "Chapter Soldier - Shiogi Ranger", "Chapter Invitation - Akari Triple", "Chapter Food - Rizumu Rock 'n'" and "Chapter Great - Mikoko Community". This book is special because of how the stories were distributed. And since it's special, I thought that I was obligated to write new ones. They are about Sorakara-kunTL note 1 and Fudatsuki-kunTL note 2, and like "Mayumi Red Eye", they are about the relationship between a male middle-schooler (?) and Araragi-kun (why those two!?). As the last performer of this book, I chose Omokage MagokoroTL note 3. I wanted to tell a story about how one culture communicates with another one. This is a story that may even put an end to the Monogatari Series. Magokoro is really scary. It's with these feelings that I wrote this book "Mazemonogatari" 100% as a hobby.

I want to thank Watanabe Akio for drawing the cover with the women gang. I'm grateful to you, the readers, for allowing me to continue writing these stories. I also want to thank Take-san, TAGRO-san, Nishimura Kinu-san, Kinako-san, VOFAN-san and Watanabe-san for their character designs of Chinou NomiTL note 4 and all the other ones.
