“Um…”
Evan glanced at Mirajane, who had eaten too much and seemed to sense something. He looked towards the shadowy depths of Tartaros, cloaked in darkness. Before Evan could lead Mirajane and Seilah further, a rhythmic set of footsteps echoed, and a dark figure started walking toward them.
“Oh no…”
“That person is coming towards us…”
Seilah trembled, feeling the sorrowful cries in the air and sensing the powerful curse energy that seemed almost visible. She knew that the man who had sat on the throne for centuries without moving was finally taking action.
The king of Tartaros, Mard Geer, was about to eliminate the intruders personally. Seilah feared that even she would be labeled a traitor and destroyed by him.
“Oh?!”
Evan looked at the approaching shadow with interest, a smile forming on his lips.
“Interesting…”
“I thought you would continue sitting on your throne, waiting for us to come to you~”
Evan spoke with a relaxed demeanor, showing no sign of acknowledging the impending danger.
“How strange?!”
“Isn’t it more advantageous for you if I come out? After all, your target is me, isn’t it?”
A boy wearing a black trench coat stood calmly from the shadow. Holding an ancient-looking book with the letters E.N.D. on the cover, he smiled at Evan.
“Oh? So you heard everything we were saying earlier? Eavesdropping isn’t a good habit…”
“But this works out well. Why don’t you hand over your soul voluntarily? Save me the trouble of doing it myself.”
Evan smiled at the boy holding the E.N.D. book, looking like a menacing demon forcing a kind soul to surrender his essence.
“You want my soul? Ridiculous!!”
“Don’t you know who I am?”
“I am Mard Geer, King of Tartaros! I am a being beyond you mere humans…”
The boy’s eyes narrowed, his aura becoming violently oppressive. His eyes glowed with a crimson fury, and a terrifying curse energy surged toward Evan and the others like an endless ocean.
“Ugh…”
As the boy unleashed his oppressive aura, both Mirajane and Seilah’s expressions changed drastically.
They seemed to see a dark Tartarus, filled with countless roaring demons. Sitting on a dark throne, a grotesque figure with bat-like wings, resembling a demon king from mythology, stared at Mirajane and Seilah.
Just one glance from this demon filled Mirajane and Seilah with despair.
“It’s impossible, humans can’t defeat him…”
“He is the absolute demon ruling over Tartaros, the great King of Tartaros…”
Seilah’s body trembled, her chest heaving. Cold sweat drenched her, causing her kimono to cling to her figure, revealing her perfect curves.
Seilah had lost her usual calm and intelligence, her exquisite face showing despair. Even as one of the Nine Demon Gates, she felt only hopelessness before the boy. The black-haired boy holding the E.N.D. book was indeed Mard Geer, the strongest demon in Tartaros.
Yes, the boy holding the E.N.D. book was Mard Geer, who now looked coldly at Evan. In Mard Geer’s heart, Evan had already been sentenced to death.
“Snap~”
Evan remained indifferent to Mard Geer’s oppressive aura. He glanced at the sweaty Mirajane and Seilah, a smirk playing on his lips. If he captured this scene on camera, it would fetch a high price from the guild’s menacing members.
Fortunately, Evan had no such base interests. He would only capture this embarrassing moment to give it to Mirajane as a birthday gift.
After capturing the amusing scene, Evan snapped his fingers, and Mard Geer’s oppressive aura vanished instantly.
“Ah…”
With the oppressive force gone, both Mirajane and Seilah collapsed to the floor, gasping for breath. Their faces were flushed, their white skin reddened, and sweat dripped off them.
Mirajane and Seilah looked like they had just fought an intense battle, panting heavily.
“This expression is also good~” Evan was pleased with Mirajane and Seilah’s expressions. Even when facing strong opponents…
Even when facing weaker foes, Evan never forgot to find amusement, true to the Fairy Tail spirit. After having his fun, Evan turned to the black-haired boy who had unleashed his aura just to introduce himself.
“So, I know your identity now. But what does that matter?”
“Haha, is that so?”
“You’re different from the human behind you, you are unique…”
Mard Geer laughed, looking at Evan who remained indifferent under his oppressive force. Mard Geer had once picked up the E.N.D. book and fantasized that E.N.D. was sealed and needed his help to be rescued. He believed everything he did was guided by the great dark wizard Zeref and was a matter of destiny…
At this moment, looking at Evan, Mard Geer laughed again, believing he had figured it out.
“Huh?”
Evan was taken aback, feeling like Mard Geer was somewhat delusional.
“I understand now…”
“You are here for this book as well!”
“Are you, human mage, afraid of the great Fire Demon E.N.D.?”
“Are you afraid that E.N.D. will burn everything in this world with his apocalyptic flames?”
Mard Geer looked at the surprise in Evan’s eyes and smiled, convinced he had it figured out.
“Hahaha, you have some skill to find this book in my possession, human!”
“But unfortunately, E.N.D.’s awakening is inevitable. No one can stop it, whether it’s you, dragons, or even the gods. You will all be burned in the end.”
Mard Geer hugged the E.N.D. book tightly and laughed maniacally at Evan.
Mard Geer knew Zeref existed and what Zeref was planning. So, he laughed, believing that neither this strong human nor the Wing of Despair Acnologia nor the gods who cursed his great master Zeref, Ankhseram, could escape the ultimate demon E.N.D.
“…”
Evan was silent, finding Mard Geer’s fantasies on par with those of Demiurge from another dimension. Are all demons in the multiverse this prone to overthinking?
“You are silent because I discovered your secret, right?”
“As expected, I was right~”
Mard Geer laughed, believing he had uncovered Evan’s secret, making Evan no longer a threat.
“Is that so?”
“Mard Geer is amazing to see through this unfathomable human…”
“But what about Lord Zeref? It’s so confusing, which side is right?”
Seilah looked shocked, not because she had lost her wits, but because Mard Geer’s confidence was overwhelming. His self-assurance made her believe him.
In truth, Mard Geer’s leadership over these demons for over four hundred years was sustained by sheer confidence and imagination!
Little did Mard Geer know, in Zeref’s eyes, he was nothing more than a dispensable clown. He wasn’t even a tool, as Zeref’s real tools were all in the Alvarez Empire on the Western continent. Mard Geer was merely a self-deluded piece of garbage.
“Human, your strength is impressive, and the girl behind you is extraordinary. She can absorb demonic powers, a talent rare among humans! Her potential is immense. If you two are willing to join Tartaros, I am willing to give you a chance to survive…”
“Now, kneel before me and this book! If you bow to this book, you will become new members of the Nine Demon Gates…”
Mard Geer raised the E.N.D. book, seemingly developing a soft spot for Evan and Mirajane. No, it wasn’t compassion; Mard Geer needed more pawns. Too many of the Nine Demon Gates had been absorbed. Even with their demonic regeneration abilities, they couldn’t be saved. He needed to replenish his forces quickly to avoid being caught unprepared when the great E.N.D. awakened.
“Buzz~”
“Boom!!”
As Mard Geer finished speaking, Evan raised his finger, aiming at Mard Geer’s leg. In a flash of black light, Mard Geer was on one knee before Evan.
“What?!”
Kneeling before Evan, Mard Geer’s body trembled. The Evan standing before him radiated an endless oppressive force.
“So fast, too fast for me to react?”
“Is this guy really human? Are there humans this powerful in the world?”
Mard Geer was confused. Evan’s speed surpassed his dynamic perception. By the time he realized, his leg had already lost feeling. Evan’s strength, composure, and overwhelming pressure left Mard Geer in self-doubt.
“If anyone should kneel, it’s you!”
Evan looked at the kneeling Mard Geer, feeling exasperated. Even if it were E.N.D. himself, Evan would still fight him. So what if it was just a book? A mere book wanting him to kneel? Even if Zeref himself brought E.N.D., it would be Natsu kneeling, as he was the weaker one!
“Human! You’ve made the biggest mistake of your life!”
Kneeling, Mard Geer, sweat pouring down his face, yelled at Evan.
Despite realizing the power gap between them, something gave Mard Geer the courage to keep barking at Evan.
“Is that book your source of courage?”
Evan raised an eyebrow, pointing at the book in Mard Geer’s hand.
In an
instant, the book disappeared from Mard Geer’s hand, reappearing in Evan’s grasp.
“You…”
Seeing his precious E.N.D. book in Evan’s hand, Mard Geer clenched his teeth. Finally, the king of imagination, Mard Geer, was enraged.
“Human, take your filthy hands off that book!”
“Return my guild master, the great E.N.D. book, to me!”
In a fit of rage, Mard Geer released all his magic power, transforming into his absolute demon form. With terrifying demonic wings spread, he charged at Evan, trying to reclaim the E.N.D. book.
“Azure Dragon’s Whip!”
Holding the E.N.D. book with one hand, Evan lifted his right leg.
“Boom!!”
With a dragon’s roar, a massive azure dragon lunged at Mard Geer, biting fiercely.
“That’s…”
Mard Geer, seeing the approaching dragon, felt his pupils dilate. He finally understood…
“I see, you’re not human at all!”
“Hahaha, even the remnants of the dragon race fear the great Fire Demon E.N.D.?”
“Just wait! Just you all wait! The great Fire Demon will burn this world to ashes…”
Before Mard Geer could finish, the terrifying dragon engulfed him.
With a series of thunderous roars, everything, including Mard Geer and the entire Tartaros guild, shook. Space, time, air, and magic—all trembled before Evan’s kick.
The azure dragon, after devouring Mard Geer, did not stop. This was not its endpoint. It continued forward, tearing through steel, rock, and cursed particles.
“Roar!!”
The azure dragon roared, soaring into the sky, and devouring half of the petrified Tartaros beast. But it didn’t stop. The dragon pressed on, tearing apart the corrupted earth, mountains, and rivers.
Finally, with a mighty roar, the dragon soared into the sky and dissipated.
As the fierce dragon cry faded, Mard Geer, now half a body, lay in the ruins.
“Ah…”
Seilah, who had been amazed by the king’s power, widened her eyes.
“Dead, dead, with just one strike, the king is dead…”
Seilah trembled, her lips dry. The so-called ultimate demon king had been kicked to death by Evan in one move?!
“So strange~”
“Weren’t there supposed to be nine members of the Nine Demon Gates?”
“Counting the two taken out by Precht, the defector Seilah, and the three Mirajane and I dealt with, there should still be three left, right?”
“As the acting guild master of Tartaros, can you tell me where the remaining three are?”
After delivering the dragon’s kick, Evan pondered, standing before Mard Geer’s half-body.
“Ah? Did I use too much force again? I really tried to hold back…”
“Seilah, do you know where your remaining Nine Demon Gates comrades are?”
Evan turned to Seilah, not bothering with the unconscious Mard Geer.
“No, no, even when holding back, you still kick the king to death. Just how strong are you?! Damn it!!”
Seilah internally cursed after hearing Evan.
“Well…”
“Although I don’t care much about the other Nine Demon Gates, I can guess their whereabouts. If the remaining three didn’t go to fight the Magic Council, didn’t stay in Tartaros, and didn’t go to Fairy Tail, then they probably went to seize the ancient magic Nirvana.”
Seilah calmed her anxious heart and analyzed seriously for Evan.
Originally harboring other thoughts, Seilah saw Evan kick Mard Geer to half a body. She had no will to resist anymore…
Strong, absolutely strong, the man before her had near-absolute power.
If she couldn’t resist, she could only quietly enjoy it. From today, Seilah was a Fairy Tail member…
No, considering the relationship between Zeref and Evan, this was more like switching to the winning side. Following Mard Geer had no future…
“Ancient magic Nirvana?! How does Tartaros know about that troublesome thing?”
Evan raised an eyebrow, realizing Nirvana was connected to Cait Shelter, related to Wendy.
“Never mind, let’s finish things here. Mirajane, hurry and absorb that guy’s soul before it dissipates. Don’t waste such a valuable power!”
“And next, we’re heading somewhere else…”
Evan thought for a while and spoke to Mirajane.
“Got it~”
Mirajane nodded to Evan, quickly moving to Mard Geer’s side to absorb his soul.
“You know where Nirvana is, right?”
While Mirajane absorbed Mard Geer’s soul, Evan turned to Seilah.
“Yes!”
Seilah nodded.
