LATER ON, AT A SMALL RESTAURANT
“Come on, Lefiya, you promised you’d take me out someplace nice to eat!”
Two days after settling their business with the island nation of Telskyura, but before returning to Orario, Aiz, Lefiya, and the Hyrute sisters stayed in the port town of Meren at Tiona’s request.
“Scotta?” asked Tiona, reading the sign out front. “Is this the place?”
“Yes!” replied Lefiya with enthusiasm. “Their beef stew is amazing! Their prices are a little steep, but many famous writers are said to have dined here!”
It was clearly a place with a history, and the smells wafting from inside signaled the restaurant’s virtues better than any review could. When the group entered, however, they came face-to-face with two people they didn’t expect.
“Kali?! Bache?!” cried Tione upon seeing the childlike goddess and her sandy-haired captain. “What are you doing here?!”
Kali seemed just as surprised to see the Hyrutes as they were to see her. “We aren’t looking for a fight,” she replied, noting the swiftness with which Tione readied herself for battle. “We lost. It’s over. I’m just here to enjoy a nice meal with Bache.”
After a moment, Tione relaxed her guard. Meanwhile, Tiona glanced around and tilted her head.
“Hm? Where’s Argana?” she asked. Kali and Bache both stared off into the distance, saying nothing.
Keeping a safe distance, the group sat down at the next table over and placed their orders.
“Well, whatever,” said Tiona. “You’re right: It’s all over now, so no hard feelings, yeah? I’m still riding the high from beating Bache!”
Tiona hadn’t meant anything by it, and Bache remained silent, but her eye twitched in indignation, nonetheless. After a while, four steaming bowls of stew were placed on the table, eliciting oohs and aahs from the girls of Loki Familia.
Then…
“Algu!”
An instant later, every bowl was completely empty. The stew had disappeared down Bache’s gullet. The eyes of Loki Familia were reduced to dots.
Bache lifted her mouth covering and licked her lips. She then raised two fingers and beckoned the twins, taunting them. This may not have been a fight, but it was a battle—and Bache hated losing.
The Hyrute twins growled, their desire for war reignited.
“Get me one more beef stew!!”
“Stewed tongue for me!! Five orders!!”
“Tiona?! Tione?! Settle down! This isn’t that kind of place!!”
Amid the chaos, Kali approached Aiz with an offer.
“Hey, Sword Princess, how about you come back to Telskyura with us? You can fight all you want.”
“I’m not sure how I feel about killing other people to get stronger…”
“Hold on! Are you trying to steal Ms. Aiz away?! I won’t allow it!!”
Three Amazons were gearing up for battle, the Sword Princess was getting recruited by another goddess, and one elf was on the verge of losing her patience when the store owner stepped in.
“All of you, get the hell out of my shop!!” he roared.
