Postscript
I've been waiting for so long that it's not fair to say that I've been waiting so long. There's a short story in the middle, but the full version of the book can be found at… It's been two years since I've published a new book.
"Tokyo Ravens 15 ShamaniC DaWN"
This is the past chapter as announced. I'm sure the atmosphere is different from the present day version, but what did you think?
Anyway, I must apologize once again for the delay. After the last volume, volume 14, I thought it would take some time for the next volume, but I didn't think I'd have to wait this long … . For various reasons, I'm sorry for the disappointment. To be honest, I thought I'd be on my toes to stop writing, but somehow I managed to publish my new book.
Thanks to my supervisor, Corty, for being so persistent over the years.
And, of course, to all of our readers who have been waiting for us for so long - no, really, thank you for your patience!
And here's the past edition of…!
Except for the trio of Yakō , Hishamaru and Kakugyouki, there are a few reappearances of course.
It's a parade of new characters.
After all, when the stage is changed, the characters have to change as well, and when there are so many unfamiliar names in the mix, it's hard for the reader to keep up … But as a writer, it's fun to think of new characters.
Especially Satsuki Soma, who will be the main new character in this story. The character of Yomitsu is already a I wondered what kind of character would be interesting to pair with this one, and I went through a lot of trial and error.
To tell the truth, I thought of about three patterns in total.
In the end, I came up with the character of Satsuki in the work. I thought he was pure and twisted, but he has a surprisingly complicated root.
What did you think of it? It seems to be in the right lineage of Soma, and I think it's similar to Takiko, or perhaps we share the same blood, but I'm wondering how the readers felt about it.
The other characters, Kurahashi, Wakasugi, and Soma, appear in this book, too.
First of all, Kurahashi. The head of the family, Takamitsu, is a character that is similar to Genji Kurahashi in the modern version. In a different time period and in a different environment - for example, if there was no great spiritual disaster - Genji Kurahashi would have joined hands with Yasuzumi Tsuchimikado to protect Harutora.
Also, Hisateru, a young boy.
Thinking about the upheaval he will face, I wrote this while hoping that he would at least be happy for now. As a matter of fact, the memories of that boy's day must have been the very thing that sustained him from now on.
Indirectly, he had a great influence on the present day version of the book. I wish I could tell you a little bit about what that "beginning" was like.
People from the Wakasugi family are, once again, quite rare in retrospect. Nevertheless, although Toshiyuki, who appeared in this story, also became a member of the Tsuchimikado family, Harutora's mother was also originally a member of the Wakasugi family. In fact, they are even closer to the Tsuchimikado family than the Kurahashi family. Toshiyuki's character was also easily defined.
But I got the impression that many of them are basically peaceful people. The Wakasugi family. And the brothers of the Soma family.
This guy, his younger brother, is actually a character that has already appeared in the game. I wonder if anyone noticed it? Akisuke Soma was drawn by Ran Kuze, a spin off comics 'Tokyo Ravens Sword of Song ”
He is active in the field. In other words, that was actually a story about the main character of Soma's bloodline.
Hey. I'm relieved that I was able to get the character out safely, because I've been wanting to make him appear in the past.
Also, the Soma brothers are the ancestors of a character whose brother is also an ancestor of one of their characters … Do you know? This one's personality is quite different from his descendants, but I think they are both similar in their drinking ways.
In addition, I was happy to be able to portray the dark temple of the past, such as Shinra Hoshi, whose name was only mentioned in the book, and young Sen and Hyakurobo.
Especially Shinra priest. At first, I had an image of a more rugged, powerful, and domineering character like a muscle-brother, but … but when I opened my eyes, I found that he turned out to be a monster monk who had eaten a lot of people. I like it, but I don't know how it happened.
The Jōgenbōshi in the main volume, Tō volume, is supposed to be acquainted with Shinra, but if Shinra is this kind of character, that stiff must have been teased a lot. When I think about it, I feel a little sorry for him. A thousand is a thousand, and I'm sure he was smiling and watching it happen, Tsushi. There is a history of the dark temple in the dark temple.
And we must not forget the two antagonists this time.
It's a very good idea to have a good idea of what you're going to do with it. Especially on his part, this is probably how he connected with Soma, and I think it was quite a "historical" development for him, considering what happened later on. He did his best to fight against an opponent who was clearly stronger than him. It's just that I feel that he would have become a high school brother if he had become Yomitsu's apprentice or something like that because of the little difference in the way they met. Well, his partner, who carried him out, would not have joined forces with Satsuki and Soma, though.
Oh, by the way, it's Miss Kouki who played the heroine together with Himagamaru. This is her first appearance in the main story, but she's already appeared in the short story collection. Newly written episodes of the third volume of the short story collection
Sword "The, Night, Before Triangle".
This newly written middle chapter, like this one, is a past chapter with Yomitsu as the main character, and is an episode of "Last Year's Demon Disturbance", which has been talked about a little bit in the first half of the book. It is a story about the commotion that occurred when Kakugouki became the shikigami of Yomitsu. There is more interaction between Yomitsu, Shoki, and Tobikamaru than in the main story, and I think you'll enjoy this story even more. If you haven't read it yet, please give it a try.
I've talked at length about the characters, but what I was concerned about in the past part was not so much the characters but the society and customs of the time.
After the China Incident, Japan on the eve of the new Pacific War, isolating itself from international politics while continuing its boggy war in mainland China.
To be honest, there are many things I feel I haven't written enough about, but since this is a "story of luminescence", I've tried to keep the descriptions that don't directly relate to it to a minimum. However, the more I look into it, the more I want to write about it, these days.
That said, I'd like to write about those days from the standpoint of someone who knows everything that will happen in the future.
It's easy to find out …… but as a novel, it's not quite the same.
What is right and what is wrong? What is normal and what is abnormal?
Such "standards" change drastically with time.
It's impossible to depict the thoughts of people at that time in a hundred percent of the time, but I wrote this book while hoping to be as close to them as possible. If you are interested in this period of time, please do a lot of research. I'm sure you'll be tempted to say this or that (laughs).
Anyway, I'd like to announce some comics news as well.
The comic by Atsushi Suzumi, which has been serialized in Shonen ACE magazine for a long time
Tokyo Ravens.
Finally, the first part of the original work has been successfully completed - the first part of the original work has been drawn to the end.
The serialization started before the first volume of the book came out, you see. It is really a long serialization for 7 years!
It's the first time for me to have my work serialized for such a long time. It was the first time for me to see my work serialized for such a long time.
Also, thanks to Suzumi-sensei's comicalization, I feel like the "Tokyo Ravens" work itself was able to expand its scope.
Especially the characters. The characters that Suzumi draws are all
is also very expressive and really lovely. You'll want to keep looking at it. Happy Komikara!
The final volume of the comic "Tokyo Ravens" is, oddly enough, the 15th volume. Even in terms of volume count, the original
It's now on sale in September, the same month as this volume, so please buy it!
I wish I could.
By the way, the last scene of the comic is an original by Suzumi-sensei, which makes the second part of the original work look like a spinning wheel. Please pick it up and take a look.
Finally, my usual acknowledgements.
While this time I really just bowed to all sides. Don't give up on me, but stay with me.
Thank you so much for joining us.
This is Sumibi-san, the illustrator. I'm sorry I'm introducing so many new characters.
I'm really in love with the character designs and such. The cover of Tobikamaru is also a feast for the eyes. Thank you for supporting my work with the same wonderful illustrations. Thank you so much!
Corty in charge. I've already thanked you at the beginning for all the trouble you've caused me. Thank you so much for your support and help - I'm so grateful for your help - I'm sorry for everything I've done until the last minute, but you are the reason this book is out there. I'm counting on you, so please keep up the good work.
And, dear readers.
I'm sorry to repeat myself, but I've been waiting so long for this book.
And it's been a long time since I've had a sequel to this volume, but it's called the past volume. I'm sure some of you are wondering when you're going to meet Harutora and his friends, but in the next volume, we'll go back to the present day … (Sorry if I'm wrong.)
It has taken me a long time to get this book published, but on the contrary, since I have made you wait so long, I would like to give you something you won't regret reading so far. I'm making steady progress toward the conclusion of the series, but I'm sure I'll be able to give you something you'll be happy with, so I hope you'll be able to wait a little while longer.
See you soon.
