Before, Tianyi was quietly listening, but now, he couldn’t help but interject. “Pangu? Didn’t he die to create the world?”

Most systems were bred naturally in the True Nothingness in a series of coincidences nothing short of a miracle. Of course, many systems failed to be born, and they made up the majority. Most of them returned to chaos, but a few of them gained sapience, forming chaos fiendgods.

Aside from natural systems, peak divinities also possessed the ability to create systems. By materializing their divine world and burning their life and soul, they could turn it into a system capable of surviving in the True Nothingness. Generally, such a system would not be able to rival the strongest naturally formed system. It was also on this basis that they could fuse their divine worlds with a natural system.

Of course, this process was also dangerous and could fail. It also brought no benefit to the divinity since he was essentially committing suicide.

The former Pangu System, the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, was only able to rival the Herakles and Thorson System because Pangu slew countless chaos fiendgods and used their corpses as nourishment for the world.

Tianyi’s mind spun, and he swiftly came to a conclusion. “Are you saying that the Heavenly Dao is Pangu’s will?”

Confucius shook his head. “It can only be called a…what was the term you liked to use? Yes, a program. Alone, it would only act within its parameters. However, once the creator of the program appears, it will no longer be so rigid. You understand what I’m saying, right?”

Tianyi nodded.

With a sigh, Confucius continued. His eyes seemed to grow cloudy as he recalled those memories that belonged to the divinity he once was. “The Lord of Primordial Beginning was just one step away from success, but Pangu’s awakening caused it all to fail. If he failed, the Lord of Primordial Beginning would have perished, but it would not have caused the Primordial World’s destruction, even with the devils.”

“According to the Lord of Numinous Treasure and the Lord of Way and Virtue’s hypothesis, Pangu had not wanted to awaken at that time, but the Lord of Primordial Beginning’s actions forced him to wake up. Upon his awakening, the Pangu System became hostile to all of us, not just the devils. In essence, we were suppressed by the devils. The Lord of Primordial Beginning had it the worst.”

A sharp aura condensed around Bao Ling as if he were remembering that event.

Confucius continued. “The backlash destroyed his divine world, and not even his body was spared. If that were only the case, he would have had a chance to survive like me and Qingping, but Pangu completely nipped the possibility in the bud.”

Tianyi had thought that the Lord of Primordial Beginning didn’t reincarnate because he couldn’t, but it seemed that someone had stopped him.

“Just as the Lord of Primordial Beginning could fuse his divine world with the Pangu System to conquer it, Pangu could use the Pangu System to assimilate the Lord of Primordial Beginning’s divine world. It was not a contest. The Lord of Primordial Beginning transformed into an avatar of Pangu. The time was not short, but not long either. Thinking back, we should have escaped while we had the chance.”

Another sigh escaped his lips. “The first ones to be targeted were naturally the Lord of Way and Virtue and the Lord of Numinous Treasure, our past selves. We tried to escape upon sensing the change, but Pangu had already sealed off the system. Although we could escape, it would take quite a while, something we couldn’t accomplish while being attacked by Pangu.”

A thought occurred to Tianyi. “Did he ever admit his identity?”

Confucius shook his head. “No. It was something Qingping and I theorized. After all, who else but Pangu could control the system born out of his body? Even if he’s not Pangu, he must be a similar existence to Qingping and me.”

Tianyi nodded. So whether that existence was Pangu or not, it was not incorrect to treat him as Pangu.

“After severely injuring us and removing our ability to escape the Pangu System, he attacked the other divinities. He targeted the peak divinities with the ability to escape his seal first.”

“Did no divinity escape?” Tianyi asked.

“I know of one, Yang Mei, a peak divinity of space. However, I have not heard a word from him since that time,” Confucius said. He shook his head. “Pangu slaughtered almost all the divinities. The great battle destroyed the Primordial World, and the broken fragments transformed into the current realms. With the destruction of the world, the Immortal Court linked to it naturally shattered, killing most of the immortal officials.”

Tianyi frowned. “If the Primordial World is recreated, will it strengthen the Heavenly Dao or that existence?”

Confucius gave a succinct reply. “Unsure.”

“Then do the Concealed Emperor and Perfected Huanglong know?” Tianyi asked. According to his conversation with the two, they still tremendously respected the Lord of Primordial Beginning. When Pangu possessed the Lord of Primordial Beginning’s body, only a few should have guessed the truth. To most onlookers, it should have looked like the Lord of Primordial Beginning went crazy and started a massacre.

“No,” Confucius said with confidence. “Because the Lord of Primordial Beginning orchestrated everything too perfectly. Most of the divinities were preoccupied. Only the strongest divinities could react before the Lord of Primordial Beginning killed them.”

Tianyi’s lips twitched as a strange thought entered his mind. Why did the Lord of Primordial Beginning sound so much like a scheming villain? If he had succeeded, would they not face Pangu’s will but the Lord of Primordial Beginning as the final boss?

“Why did Pangu kill so many divinities and destroy the Primordial World? Shouldn’t a stable world be more conducive to whatever he is planning?” Tianyi asked.

“It’s why we’re currently in our current state,” Confucius said. “Pangu wanted to absorb us. All those who were killed and perished during that battle were absorbed by the system. It’s a similar process to how immortals return to heaven and earth. Just like them, divinities were just nourishment.”

“So the high and mighty divinities are nothing more than livestock?” Tianyi asked.

“You can see it that way. Although a few divinities died outside the Pangu System, we saw no signs of the quintessence being absorbed. Even those that fell during the primordial wars for supremacy were not directly absorbed like immortals,” Confucius said.

From this, Tianyi could guess that Pangu did not completely perish. Or rather, creating the Pangu System was merely a step in his goal. Perhaps the death of countless chaos fiendgods lessened the burden on Pangu, allowing his soul to survive and hide. As for the goal, it was nothing more than transcending the Divine Realm, something no one had accomplished before.

“We’re also lucky. The Lord of Primordial Beginning’s body had been damaged. Even if he received blessings from the Pangu System, he could not last long. After leaving us for dead, the body shattered into essence. It seemed that forcibly awakening was not something Pangu could do lightly. The seal was lifted, but even if we left, we would die, so we had no choice but to implement drastic measures,” Confucius finished.

“So why contact me instead of the Concealed Emperor or Perfected Huanglong? They should—”

Confucius turned around and faced Tianyi. “We want your help. We want to destroy Pangu’s will or destroy him.”

“Why can’t you just leave the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System and find another system? I don’t think anyone in their right mind would want to continue in such a dangerous system,” Tianyi said.

“Because we have reached our limits. Our reincarnation was not without cost,” Confucius admitted. “I have reached my peak and can never make progress again unless I regain what I lost.”

Tianyi turned toward Bao Ling. “Is it the same for you? You should have embarked on an unprecedented path, creating a divine law that does not exist in the universe.”

“What use will it do?” Bao Ling finally spoke. “I’m not as skilled as the Lord of Way and Virtue. The Heavenly Dao has branded me. If I really reach my peak, I’m afraid everything I have will dissolve and become nutrients for Pangu.”

Tianyi looked between the two of them. One of them broke free of the Heavenly Dao’s influence but could no longer make progress. The other was entrenched and invaded. Though they abandoned their past achievements and took an alternative path, they were in danger of being absorbed at any time. No wonder the two wanted to destroy the Heavenly Dao and Pangu.

He still had one question. “Why me?”

Once again, Confucius turned toward the hall. This time, he stared at the Lord of Primordial Beginning’s statue. “All three of us can be considered inheritors of the Three Pure Ones.”

“You’re not going to tell me that I’m an inheritor because I practiced the Primordial Heavenly Scripture, are you?”

For the first time, Confucius chuckled. “Thanks to the fact that the Immortal Court wasn’t the prime target, much of its legacy remained unharmed, so you aren’t the first one to practice the Primordial Heavenly Scripture. Many others also practiced it. Most are dead, and you are the one with the greatest achievements.”

Tianyi held his chin. Then what could Confucius mean? He recalled his early years of cultivation and paused. “Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique?”

Confucius nodded. “Although the Lord of Primordial Beginning did not survive, he left behind a seed. No, calling it a seed is too generous. More akin to an obsession and a hope. You aren’t the first soul chosen by the Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique.”

Tianyi’s eyes widened. The number of people who knew about his Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique could be counted on one hand, and after a certain point, it felt useless to him, so he forgot about it. “Since when did you notice?”

“From the moment your soul appeared,” Confucius said. “The Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique has always chosen souls with a certain criterion—those with the potential to break free from the Heavenly Dao’s influence. What soul was more qualified than an outside soul from the Almighty’s universe?”

Tianyi’s brows furrowed.

“Don’t be quick to dismiss my words. Although reincarnators like yourself aren’t as susceptible to the Heavenly Dao as natives, how can a mortal soul compete with the might of the entire world? Do you think you were able to create that inner universe because you absorbed the tribulation essence and merged several heavenly scriptures?” Confucius’s words sent ripples through Tianyi’s soul, but he did not stop. “It’s true that they played a role; in fact, they played an indispensable role. Even now, I cannot fathom how you succeeded in creating an inner universe while we failed.”

Confucius smiled. “Do you know what the Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique’s main purpose is?”

“To elevate the soul?” Tianyi answered, unsure.

“No, protection. If you did not have the Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique, the Heavenly Dao would have influenced you, causing you to fail your Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation,” Confucius said.

Tianyi wanted to refute. He could still recall finding an immense amount of tribulation essence hiding in his mind like a landmine.

“Of course, the Heavenly Dao also knew of the existence of the Three Pure True Self Visualization Technique. After going through many successors, its defensive powers had weakened, and luck played quite a large role in your success,” Confucius said. “I always thought the Lord of Primordial Beginning’s last act was a futile effort, but once again, I have to yield to him. Because of him, I see hope of regaining what I lost!”

Tianyi didn’t know what to say, so he could only turn to Bao Ling with a complicated look. He suffered his first defeat at Bao Ling’s hands. Their first clash even resulted in him losing all progress he had made during the Singularity Realm, forcing him to start all over. If Bao Ling was the reincarnation of the Lord of Numinous Treasure, then it would make sense and his loss was not unjust.

Just kidding, Tianyi still felt bitter. “What about you? Did you already know when you fought me?”

“Our first meeting was a coincidence. I only regained an inkling, and you felt familiar to me,” Bao Ling simply said.

Tianyi took a deep breath. Part of him wanted to fight Bao Ling again, but more than that, he wanted to rescue his mother. “What are your plans?”
