Tianyi thought about it for a bit and summoned Jinshu to his palace.
“Master,” Jinshu said, bowing toward Tianyi.
Tianyi waved his hand. “Get up. No need to bow.”
He waved his hand, and four new morphers appeared in front of Jinshu.
Although they looked different, Jinshu still recognized them as something similar to the Five Element Morphers he and his companions used before. “These are?!”
Tianyi nodded. “It’s as you think. These are the new morphers I created: the Gold Dragon Morpher based on the Law of Space, the Silver Phoenix Morpher based on the Law of Time, and the Darklight Morphers based on the Law of Light and the Law of Darkness.”
He continued to explain about them in more detail, especially about unique team features of the two sets of morphers. “As a former user of the Five Elemental Morphers, I think you are most qualified to give feedback on these morphers.”
Jinshu nodded. The Red Crow Morpher helped him a lot and stimulated the Golden Crow bloodline in his body, greatly lessening the time he needed to reach the Seamless Immortal Realm. After becoming a monarch, he left the Five Elemental Rangers and allowed another true immortal to experience the wonder of the morpher. Of the original group, only three members remained.
Although he left, Jinshu didn’t think he was stronger than when he still had the Red Crow Morpher. When he was still the Red Crow Ranger, although his comprehension of the Law of Fire wasn’t complete, he had the qi of a peak monarch. Although not explicitly stated, the Five Elemental Rangers also had some combination effect.
The more rangers present, the more powerful the qi of each ranger would have access to. For example, if the Red Crow Ranger and the Green Dragon Ranger were present, they could theoretically possess the qi of a second-step monarch. Of course, they did not have access to this perk immediately and needed to unlock some requirements first.
Accessing this enhanced power would also drain the qi in their morpher, diminishing the time they could stay in their ranger state, but there was no denying its power. Jinshu’s only advantage over the current Red Crow Ranger was his complete comprehension of the Law of Fire and endurance. He was still far away from becoming a fifth-step monarch.
That didn’t prevent Jinshu from evaluating the new Spacetime Morphers. As for the Darklight Morphers, it needed an additional person. Tianyi himself was too powerful to use the morpher.
After testing the Spacetime Morphers, Jinshu said, “They’re amazing. Much more amazing than the Red Crow Morpher or the other elemental morphers. But they are also harder to control. Unless you have talent in the Law of Time or the Law of Space, you can only use the preset techniques stored in the morphers without any deviation.”
Tianyi nodded. The amount of people who had talent in the Law of Space was far below the average, much less the Law of Time, which was much rarer. ‘Should I give it to Hu Landie? But although Ba Shifang has talent in the Law of Space, he’s not as focused on it as the Law of the Five Phases. Diverting his attention will only delay him. Not to mention that both of them are already monarchs.’
“Master,” Jinshu said, breaking Tianyi out of his thoughts.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Can I borrow the Silver Phoenix Morpher and go to the Prison Realm?” Jinshu asked.
The Prison Realm was the new name of the Demon Cage Realm. After the Demon Clan joined the Immortal Court and entered the Primordial Realm, the Immortal Court altered the function of the Demon Cage Realm to become a prison for criminals and sinners.
“Do you want to use the Silver Phoenix Morpher’s Temporal Reversion to find out the truth of your father’s disappearance?” Tianyi asked.
The Silver Phoenix Ranger had three foundational techniques derived from the Law of Time: Temporal Reversion, Temporal Stasis, and Temporal Acceleration.
“Please,” Jinshu said. “I know the Prison Realm can only be opened at certain times, but I am willing to wait.”
“That’s not the problem,” Tianyi said with a shake of his head. “The Silver Phoenix Ranger can only reverse time in a small area, and the greater the reversion, the more energy required. I doubt you can even reverse a thousand years before running out of energy.”
Jinshu’s shoulders slump. “I still want to try.”
“I’m not saying this to deter you,” Tianyi said. “I’ll go to the Prison Realm with you. The temporal reversion is something I installed in the Silver Phoenix Morpher. Naturally, I am not beholden to the same limitations.”
“Master!” Jinshu looked at Tianyi with heartfelt emotion.
Tianyi waved his head. “No, it’s nothing. I should have helped you earlier. Strictly speaking, it was a dereliction of my duties as your master.”
“No, Master already treated me very well,” Jinshu said.
“Stay here. Even with my authority, I still have to get some permissions first,” Tianyi said. After saying that, his figure became faint until he completely disappeared, leaving Jinshu alone in the Nine Heavens Palace.
Tianyi naturally found Grand Elder Xia.
“What, you said you made four more morphers?” Grand Elder Xia asked.
Tianyi nodded. “It wasn’t that hard. I just needed to spend some time.”
“Is it possible to teach this method? Of course, we won’t take your method for nothing, we’ll give a corresponding reward for the method,” Grand Elder Xia said.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“It’s not really that important to me. The price actually might be a bit high to create one. Oh, but I think having too many of the same morphers would kind of dilute the uniqueness of it,” Tianyi said. He conjured a violet jade slip, which he imprinted the method he used to create the morphers and handed it to Grand Elder Xia.
After reading the content of the jade slip, Grand Elder Xia was a bit speechless. “This…is a bit difficult to produce. The sheer amount of resources required is not worth it.”
Tianyi had a strange expression on his face when he heard Grand Elder Xia’s words. He imagined rangers replacing the soldiers and generals of the Immortal Court. At that point, the Immortal Court would be considered an evil and tyrannical ranger empire, right? And a renegade team of rangers would rise up and destroy the evil ranger empire.
Grand Elder Xia sighed. “It seems that it’ll be impossible to field rangers in every Immortal Hall.”
“Field them in the Immortal Halls? What do you mean?” Tianyi asked.
“It’s like this. Ever since pictures and videos of the Five Elemental Rangers appeared on the Xiyinet, it has become very popular. Even ordinary mortals with access to a Xiyi Talisman are attracted to them. Especially after they appeared to stop some demons from wreaking havoc. Many even only know about the Five Elemental Rangers and don’t know about the emperors or ministers,” Grand Elder Xia said. “I originally wanted to use them as representatives for the Emperor Hall, since many people view them as envoys of justice.”
“Many people, not just children?” Tianyi asked.
Now, it was Grand Elder Xia’s turn to look at Tianyi weirdly. “Why would only children like them? Don’t underestimate your creation.”
Tianyi’s eyes lit up. He found the idea really interesting. ‘The Immortal Court probably can’t afford to arm every Emperor Hall with a ranger, but I’m different. I have access to the infinite resources of the Nine Heavens Universe. In terms of wealth, I exceed the Immortal Court, but all the resources are just in their raw and unrefined state.’
“How about this? I’ll create a large number of morphers and you can rent them from me instead,” Tianyi said.
“This,” Grand Elder Xia hesitated. Renting would undoubtedly be cheaper than creating their own, but only in the short term. However, as time went on, the cost would pile up. Especially since they would have to pay the fee even when they weren’t using the morpher. “Let me think about it.”
Upon seeing Grand Elder Xia hesitate, Tianyi spoke again. “I can even let you do a pay-over-time. Once you pay a certain amount of rent, you can own it directly.”
Grand Elder Xia’s heart moved, but Tianyi wasn’t done speaking.
“I also don’t think you want all the morphers to give the power of a monarch to their wielder. A true immortal can wield the power, but a mortal? Even a saint will have trouble, so I’ll be downgrading them. The current morphers can be called general morphers and the weakened versions can be known as soldier morphers. Instead of a complete wordly law, they’ll be imbued with the power of concepts. Although they aren’t as powerful as a complete law, they will still grant their wielders the power of a true immortal.”
“I still have to discuss the matter with the other ministers. For now, you can go to the Prison Realm. We should reach a consensus when you return,” Grand Elder Xia said. “Do you need to take an Immortal Embassy?”
“No need. I’ll just teleport directly into the Prison Realm. Just give the new realmlord a heads up,” Tianyi said, waving his hand and disappearing.
“So impatient,” Grand Elder Xia said with a shake of his head. He turned around and flew toward Central Peak to speak with Minister Everpast.
In the sky of the newly renamed Prison Realm, two figures appeared in the sky. They were Tianyi and Jinshu.
Tianyi held his chin. “If I recall correctly, Fan City should be this way.”
Jinshu only felt his surrounding blur, and when it became clear again, he found himself standing in an empty city. It didn’t feel as if he had moved. Rather, it felt like the world shifted its position. Once again, he marveled at his master’s mastery over spacetime.
“Although I don’t remember much, your father should have lived here for a while. Watch closely, or else I might overlook him,” Tianyi said.
Once Jinshu nodded, Tianyi waved his hand. A bizarre phenomenon started. The dull and cracked walls of the empty city disappeared and the overgrown vegetation also shrunk. Soon, people appeared, but they were moving backwards. If they were eating, each time their chopsticks reached their mouth, they would pull food out of them and put them back into the bowls or plates. Abnormal scenes like this and even weirder ones filled the city.
“There!” Jinshu said, pointing at the city entrance. He had never met his father before, but he had memorized his face because of the portrait his mother carried.
Tianyi also focused on the man with features similar to his disciple. The man looked about fifty to sixty percent similar, but his features were more rough and plain than Jinshu. Tianyi also sensed the Golden Crow bloodline flowing through the man’s body, just like Jinshu, which further confirmed his identity.
“Since we found him, there’s no need to reverse anymore.” Tianyi waved his hand again and time flowed forward again. He could see that Jinshu wanted to see his father more, but Tianyi didn’t want to. What if he reversed the time and saw him spending ‘quality’ time with Jinshu’s mother? He didn’t want to bleach his eyes, okay?
The two followed Jinshu’s father, Lushu, as he spent his last days. Tianyi and Jinshu didn’t move from their position, but their surroundings shifted with Lushu’s position. Finally, on the day of his death, Lushu was traveling in the wilderness when a sword flew out of nowhere and pierced his chest.
Lushu staggered and struggled to stay on his feet. He wanted to look up to see who attacked him, but before he could, the sword radiated a cold light. Lushu’s eyes turned dull as the breath of life disappeared from his body. Not long later, a man descended and landed next to the corpse.
Tianyi and Jinshu’s eyes widened. Tianyi because he recognized the man. He had changed his features and aura, but Tianyi could still recognize that it was Xia Yushan. He was already an immortal emperor. How could Xia Yushan, who was still just a mid-level grandmaster, deceive Tianyi’s senses? ‘Had you already cultivated the Emotion Severance Sutra at this time? Or did your envy drive you to do this?’
Jinshu’s eyes widened because he recognized the uniform on Xia Yushan’s body. It was a uniform worn only by elite disciples of the Immortal Court. He clenched his fist when he saw Xia Yushan extract his father’s blood essence and then use a lightning technique to turn the surrounding into ash and glass, making it resemble a failed tribulation.
“Master, who is that?” Jinshu asked, his voice deceptively calm.
Tianyi sighed. “He was once the eldest senior brother of the Buzhou Immortal Sect, Xia Yushan.”
“It’s him? Where is he?” Jinshu asked again, not a single tremble in his words.
“You can’t find him.”
“Master, are you stopping me from getting revenge?!” Jinshu stared at Tianyi, his voice breaking, revealing his inner turmoil.
Tianyi shook his head. “No, he’s already dead. You should remember that he was a fellow immortal during the war to unify the Huang Realm. But after the war, he disappeared. Do you know why?”
“Why?”
“Because he betrayed the Buzhou Immortal Sect. During the war, he attempted to kill your aunt-master for selfish reasons. As punishment, he was executed,” Tianyi said.
Jinshu slumped over. The hatred that arose in his heart was left with no target. He was preparing to go against the Immortal Court for revenge, but now, what was he supposed to do? He wasn’t stupid. Going against the Immortal Court was just asking for death. They might have let some of his actions slide if they knew the truth, but if he insisted on causing chaos, then they would definitely kill him. His master might show mercy, but what about the others? As Tianyi’s disciple, he knew more than the average monarch.
Tianyi sighed when he saw Jinshu’s depressed state. “Let’s go back.”
