Chapter 78: Waiting for Hares by the Tree
"God damn it... Where did these people come from?"
Standing on the ruins with a broken arm, Cha held a monocular covered with tape in his hand, looking at the direction of the construction site not far away.
There were three or five people there, carrying stones and hardened cement blocks in a trolley.
They moved very fast, and didn’t stop in one place for very long. They would leave as soon as they got enough stones.
Cha simply couldn't understand where those people came from, and how they managed to build a stronghold under their noses without being noticed by them.
In his impression, Linghu Wetland Park was clearly a barren forest where even birds wouldn't want to take shit in. There was only an abandoned nursing home in the middle of the forest.
Except for some birds, beasts, insects, and snakes, even the hyenas wouldn't hunt there.
But this was not important.
Those large and small shelters were like cockroach eggs. From time to time, one or two of them would appear out of nowhere. All he needed to consider was how to swallow this group of fat sheep.
"Boss, when shall we do it?"
Standing next to Cha was a man with a bandage on his left eye and more than a dozen scars on his chest, looking like a centipede.
At least half of those scars were from the fight, and the other half was secretly scratched on by himself with a knife.
"There’s no need to rush, we are only investigating now, and it is not time to attack."
Cha handed the monocular to this man who stood aside.
Unlike Badger, no matter what kind of opponent he faced, he would not carelessly underestimate the enemy.
Even if the opponent had only three or five people and didn't even have guns in their hands, he would carefully observe for a long time. After confirming that there was no danger, he would unexpectedly launch a swift and violent assault, trying to control the enemy with one move, and make the opponent lose resistance in the shortest time possible.
"Why don't we let a few slaves rush over to test them? They've all moved the rocks all morning... I'm worried that they will take the rocks back to reinforce their base."
The humpbacked man with a steel helmet on his head approached Cha’s side and whispered.
There was a large shovel hanging from his back.
Looking closely, the shovel was not only sharpened, but also serrated. Behind the tube hole was a simple receiver structure. It was a breech-loaded musket.
Cha thought for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay."
"Find a few cannon fodder to test their strength."
There were many captives in the basement of Bloodhand Clan. These captives were not only their playthings, but also livestock, and at the same time the cannon fodders on the battlefield.
For livestock and cannon fodder, the marauders of Bloodhand Clan usually did not give them food, but instead shut them in the half collapsed waterway and regularly poured a bucket of swill down, letting them fight with mutant cockroaches and mice and making them suffer.
This continued until their humanity was wiped out, and they were reduced to animals dominated by instinct. Some would be selected and given sticks and daggers. They would be asked to join the war with them, and as long as a stronghold was captured, be accepted as companions after the carnage.
This was called The Baptism Of Blood by marauders.
Cha sent one of his men back, while the others waited in place.
On the other side, Ample Time, who was lying in an unfinished building near the abandoned construction site, frowned as he stared at the cart that was moving away.
Old White, who was squatting at the door, couldn't sit still anymore and couldn't help asking.
