Chapter 1051 Another Meeting
After listening to Thanatos' speculation, everyone but Valefor wore a solemn expression, and the atmosphere became heavy.
It wasn't difficult to comprehend how severe the situation was.
After all, if Helcan had been spreading malicious rumors long enough for Hades and Nightmare to send people to investigate, then it would mean it was already too late to stop it.
Now, they had to find a way to deal with both Hades and Nightmare.
"That damn rat...! I knew he was up to no good, but to think this is how he would screw us over! He must have exploited the contract's loopholes by hiring Scum's Favor to do his dirty work!" Mephistopheles cursed, immediately figuring out Helcan's scheme.
He immediately regretted not stopping Helcan when he had the chance despite being among the first to know where Helcan had headed.
Even Thanatos must have known about it, yet did nothing, leading to their current situation. It seemed they had both been too complacent and underestimated Helcan's viciousness and desperation.
"If Helcan was so afraid of Lord Vaan's future retaliation, he should have just fled as far as he could to a place where he could start over. However, the reality is that he made the worst choice and ended any possibility of reconciliation, even going as far as offending all of us. He let fear rule over him," Balmodan said.
"Indeed, he did," Astarte nodded and said, "Not only that, he couldn't hide his greed either. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made this choice. He intends to come back after Hades and Nightmare eliminate us."
"I propose the immediate termination of Helcan's authority over the Titanfall Territory," Astarte shortly suggested.
However, Thanatos shook his head and said, "There's no need to bother with that. Helcan had already broken off with his connection to the Titanfall Territory before he left Gehenna."
"He wouldn't be so foolish as to leave behind a piece of his soul if he knew he was going to offend me," Thanatos coolly stated.
It was also because Helcan unbound himself from the Titanfall Territory that Thanatos thought he would leave and never return to Gehenna.
"What a damn fool. Even if Helcan had succeeded in his scheme, it wouldn't be his turn to reclaim what he owned. Hades and Nightmare would never let him have anything," Mephistopheles snorted with disdain.
"Fortunately, we have a Heavenly Devil now. Helcan was right to fear Lord Vaan. However, someone like Lord Vaan can only be pleased and not offended. Kekeke, it would be quite interesting to see Helcan's expression if he found out how powerful Lord Vaan is."
"He turned his back on his only allies, and now he can only be a helpless stray, fleeing for his life. He deserves everything happening to him. Such a black-hearted rat doesn't deserve a seat among us," Mephistopheles stated.
"Enough small talk. Helcan will be dealt with in the future, but he is irrelevant. Right now, Hades and Nightmare are the bigger problems. We must be prepared for their retaliation," Thanatos asserted.
"Why do we need to prepare for their retaliation? What are they retaliating for?" Astarte asked with surprise, still seemingly unaware of the situation.
"His Excellency killed all of Nightmare's representatives, and Lord Thanatos killed Hades' Jade Soul King a short while ago," Balmodan slowly informed Astarte.
Both Astarte and Mephistopheles immediately felt a cold chill run down their spines. The situation was far, far more serious than they had imagined.
