Once the Divine League stopped seeing the UN as the enemy, they realized the gargantuan opportunity waiting for them. Even though it had yet to join the UN, news of the UN's development quickly reached it.
The UN's frightening development was also the reason the Divine League was so anxious and afraid. No one was used to such rapid changes.
The amount of changes in the past six months was more than the past three hundred years added together.
New knowledge and technology were introduced every day, and overly ambitious or extremely motivated people would consume such knowledge and technology quickly to make use of them.
Those who did not have the same drive would fall far behind until they became people of little importance. The grand race of development was so suffocating that people with less drive would feel too much pressure to relax and take breaks.
Originally, the City Lords of the Divine League thought it would be difficult to reach out to the UN, given their previous stubborn stance.
However, they were all wrong. It was very easy to arrange a meeting with the UN's representatives. The UN welcomed all countries with open arms; only the benefits differed at the time of joining.
Although the Divine League received fewer benefits than the Freedom Federation, it ultimately secured a membership spot within the UN. The treaty and handover of sovereignty were signed three days after the Freedom Federation's visit.
When the world received news of the Divine League joining the UN, it received another wave of shock.
"The sky has changed," a person said after reading the news.
With the addition of the Divine League and the Freedom Federation, the UN effectively controlled two-thirds of the continent. Even if the remaining unaffiliated countries banded together, they could not match the UN's might.
As such, the remaining unaffiliated countries sent representatives to the UN, expressing their willingness to submit under the UN banner and serve the overlord.
Although it took a whole month to complete all the signing ceremonies and formalities to instate the new members, the world eventually united under a single will. To celebrate this occasion, the UN was renamed the United Pangea Federation, and a central government was formed to manage the world.
The feudal system ceased to exist, and old rulers gave up their authority in exchange for cultivation benefits. The power over a piece of land simply couldn't compare to becoming a strong being with a long lifespan.
Everyone aspired to become like Vaan.
That said, although Vaan received the oath of allegiance from every country, he was never one to trust in verbal promises. As such, he pulled every party into his power grid plan to guarantee their obedience.
If he didn't want to be betrayed by others, he couldn't give them a chance to betray him.
Vaan's power grid plan involved achieving a monopoly over the supply of electricity, spirit energy, and mana and making every country dependent on them. The plan was inspired by Celestial City's monopoly over spirit energy.
Nevertheless, Vaan did not monopolize Pangea's natural resources to achieve this.
Every country was free to procure its own mana and spirit energy from the world and develop its own electricity supply. After all, depriving them of their basic rights to these resources would only destabilize the new government instead of strengthening it.
Vaan's faith in his power grid plan came from the moon.
The moon could produce electricity, spirit energy, and mana of greater quantities and qualifies. If he could sell resources of such superior qualities and quantities cheaply, every country would naturally gravitate toward the offer.
That said, Vaan's power grid plan was only possible because the moon possessed the conditions to allow it.
After all, the moon possessed near-constant sunlight exposure, allowing efficient solar power generation. The moon also possessed helium-3, which was used as fuel in advanced nuclear fusion reactors to generate large amounts of energy.
The amount of electricity generated from all this was simply staggering.
As for spirit energy and mana, the lunar base's advantages regarding them were even clearer.
