A fairytale inn
The day after Ra-chan and I left the royal capital.
As I was relaxing in my room after finishing my breakfast, Sara handed me a letter.
"Lord Alfried, you have received a letter from Viscount Doll."
"From Gregor?"
When I receive the letter, I check the text on the spot.
In summary, he said he wanted to talk to me leisurely about puppetry and ask Tikul to teach him how to use a puppet.
The day before yesterday, Schugel was there too, and we mostly talked about theme parks, so we hardly had any discussion about the puppet show.
Since Gregor is already in the royal capital, I'd like to have a talk with him, and I'd like to know how much Tickle's puppet manipulation has improved.
Judging from your message, it seems like you want to meet soon, so let's meet soon.
Luckily, it looks like we can still meet there today.
"I'm going to Gregor's for a bit."
"I got it"
I told Sara my destination and when I opened the door to go outside, Ra-chan was standing there.
"Ah..."
Ra-chan tried to say something, but quickly shut her mouth.
He looks very disappointed. Loretta, who is standing behind him, also looks uncomfortable.
The fact that she came all the way to my room must mean she wanted to invite me to hang out.
I arrived in front of the room, but then I heard someone say that I was going to meet Gregor.
"...I'm going to Gregor's house now, would you like to come with me, Ra-chan?"
"go!"
When I asked her as a test, Ra-chan's gloomy expression suddenly changed into a smile.
"Are you sure, Alfried?"
Loretta asks timidly.
It might be annoying if an unexpected guest showed up, but Gregor would be fine. He doesn't really care about anything other than the doll.
"I might not be able to get involved in complicated conversations, but I'm sure Ra-chan will enjoy training in controlling dolls with psychic powers."
"I, I see. Thank you."
After I explained why Ra-chan wouldn't be bored, Loretta bowed her head in embarrassment.
"Well then, let's go."
"Yeah!"
That's why Ra-chan and I decided to go out together again today.
After getting ready, I went outside and got into the Misfeed family carriage, just like yesterday.
"Which way would you recommend?"
"At an inn called 'Merge'."
"Eh? Are you Merje?"
When Gregor told her the inn where he was staying, Loretta reacted with confusion.
I checked the letter again and it said Theresa. It wasn't that I misread it.
"Yes, that's what it says in the letter."
"I see."
"Is it really that strange if it's Meruge?"
"That inn has a very cute exterior and interior, so it's not often that adult men stay there."
When I asked her frankly, Loretta seemed a little uncomfortable answering my question, but she answered anyway.
Apparently Loretta doesn't know much about Gregor.
That might be true for a normal man, but Gregor likes dolls.
I'm sure they are admiring the dolls that fit perfectly into the fairy tale-like world of the inn, which is decorated like a fairy tale.
Loretta tells the driver their destination and the carriage slowly moves forward.
"Hey, who's Gregor?"
As we were looking at the scenery while being rocked back and forth, Ra-chan asked me.
Apparently he was curious about the person he was about to meet.
"He's the tall man who came to the mansion the day before yesterday."
"That scary looking guy?"
"Uh, yeah."
I wanted to tell him that it wasn't true, but Gregor's face was scary no matter how you looked at it, so I couldn't back him up. Even though I'm used to seeing him, sometimes I still find him scary.
However, we need to dispel the image of him as a scary person.
"He may have a scary face, but he's a really interesting guy who loves dolls."
"You like dolls?"
"Yes."
"I love dolls too! I have lots in my room!"
"Then maybe we can get along."
"Yeah! I'm looking forward to it!"
If Ra-chan also likes dolls, then there's no way she would incur her anger by treating them roughly.
This gives me peace of mind.
We left the Misfeed family estate and walked through the streets of the royal capital for about twenty minutes.
The carriage slowly slowed down, as if it had reached its destination.
When the carriage came to a complete halt, the driver opened the door and got out.
Then, right in front of me was a Western-style building decorated in pastel colors.
"It's a cute building!"
"...Yeah, that's true."
It certainly makes sense that an average adult male wouldn't stay at an inn that looks like this.
It would be a popular place for women who like cute things and small children.
As I walked in, there were two security guards at the entrance.
He was wearing a metal helmet and full body armor, which was also colored in pastel colors.
It seems that they were careful not to destroy the fairy tale worldview. It's very elaborate.
When I told Gregor, who was staying there, that I had been invited, he let me through without any hesitation, probably because he had already communicated the details with me beforehand.
There is a strong presence of security on the premises, so it's probably aimed at the wealthy, just like the inn we stayed at in the royal capital last year.
A security guard led me inside the inn, where the entrance was decorated entirely in pink.
Of course, the tables, chairs, and even the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling are all pastel colored.
"...It's a fairy tale."
Even though I'm supposed to be in a different world, I can't help but feel like this isn't the same world.
"The colors are different over there!"
"That's true."
Looking at the corridor to the right where Ra-chan was pointing, it was colored yellow.
"The corridor going in the opposite direction is colored blue."
"It seems like the colors and themes change depending on the location."
"Interesting!"
It seems like a fun place to have fun, but it might not be the best place for me since I want to relax.
"Please wait here for a moment."
The security guard told us to wait, so we killed time by looking at the vibrant interior and furnishings.
Immediately afterwards, I heard heavy thuds coming from the stairs near the entrance.
"Alfleet-sama, you came!"
The loud voice came from Gregor.
The maid Tickle and butler Bastian are not there, either because they have been left behind or because they are busy with other work.
Gregor came running down the stairs excitedly, but stopped midway when he seemed to notice Ra-chan's presence.
"Huh? Lady Lana?"
"It's Lana."
"I'm Loretta, Lady Lana's maid. I apologize for suddenly intruding on your behalf."
"No, of course not. It's an honor to be able to invite you, Lady Rana. If it was going to be like this, should we have just rented a villa somewhere?"
"No, we were the ones who suddenly showed up, so that's all I can say."
"Don't worry about it."
When Ra-chan and Loretta greeted him, Gregor's confusion quickly disappeared.
Although she can become extremely unruly when filled with love for dolls, it's reassuring that she has no problems dealing with social interactions.
After finishing his greeting with a smile, Gregor beckoned me over.
Well, that's what happens.
"... Alfried, that's not what we said."
Gregor said with a straight face as he moved a little away from Ra-chan and Loretta.
She had wanted to have a leisurely discussion with him about the dolls and ask for his guidance with Tickle, so it was no wonder she was surprised to see an outsider there.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't refuse, but Ra-chan can also use the attributeless magic Psychic. So I wanted to teach you how to control dolls together with Tickle."
"What?! Lady Lana has psychic abilities too?!"
"If he has someone to practice with, he might be inspired and improve faster, and if he gets along with Ra-chan, she might help out with the puppet show."
"Oh! I'm glad you invited a valuable magic user! It's better to have as many puppeteers as possible!"
Gregor was confused at first, but when he was told that it would likely benefit the puppet show, he changed his mind.
Easy to understand.
I don't know if Ra-chan will help with the puppet show, but I hope I can have a fun day today.
