The enemy’s name is Arsene.

The next day.

Siesta and I were called to the New York Police Department by someone.

"Yo, had a good time last night?"

We were ushered into a reception room, and a certain policewoman—Fuubi Kase, sat on the sofa with a cigarette in her hand, mouthing a line like something out of a famous RPG, grinning at Siesta and me.

"I don't understand what you mean by fun."

I sit down with Siesta on the sofa facing Fuubi-san, playing dumb.

"No, I mean, that girl’s looking sleepy. I thought maybe you didn't let her sleep."

"…This famous detective is always sleepy."

I glanced at the person sitting next to me, rubbing her eyes sleepily, seemingly not hearing the conversation between Fuubi-san and me. If you ask me, I think I slept worse than usual, but…I swear to God, nothing happened last night. Nothing more needs to be said.

"Anyway Fuubi-san, how can you be so proud to be part of the NYPD?"

The Japanese policewoman occupies the room as if it was hers, smoking a cigarette. What happened to the talk about quitting smoking in the first place?

"Oh, this? I'd like to quit smoking right now."

Then Fuubi-san gave a faint smile and said,

"I thought I'd smoke with him for a while."

To my surprise, I should say, she’s mourning her now-deceased enemy in her own way.

"…So? Is there something you want to tell me about yesterday's incident?"

It was about the attack by the mysterious masked men at the cafe where we were having dinner. Unfortunately for them, there was a famous detective among the customers. In the end, I didn't have a chance to make a difference by the time Siesta routed the men in an instant and whisked them over to the police.

We had accomplished our purpose and were thinking of going back home, but right before that… Fuubi-san, who was still staying in New York, contacted me about that incident, and here we are.

"Oh, those guys you rounded up yesterday? I had them tell me their motive for causing the incident. Then they started saying some interesting things."

Fuubi-san's interesting things certainly meant trouble for us. Nodding in agreement, I listened to what she had to say.

"They said—let Arsene go."

Upon hearing this, Siesta, who had been sleepy until now, reacted with a jerk. She put her fingertips to her chin with a grim expression. But I still didn’t know why. Arsene? What’s with that name…

"It's Phantom Thief."

"…! Phantom Thief, no, wait."

Siesta looked at me and nodded.

"Yes. Arsene, one of the twelve?Tuners?, the traitor is the?Phantom Thief?."

I've been told that's also an alias, Siesta said with a complicated expression on her face.

The traitor, the?Phantom Thief?. The?Priestess?Mia Whitlock once told me the reason why he was dubbed so.
