Ardagan family.
"Rui has just taken off," said Anna while playfully sitting on Noel’s lap, her hands circling around his neck.
"What are you doing?" Noel asked calmly, his eyes still on the documents on the table.
"Why don’t you get some rest first? You have been dealing with all this stuff. Besides, since they have decided to attack now, it’s clear that they will be coming again soon. So, why not take a break?" Anna smiled.
"I still need to do a lot of things. Since the enemy is going to attack, it will be a perfect time to set up the recovery process after the battle." Noel shook his head.
"As a result, you are isolating yourself in your office."
"It can’t be helped. I have taken a few days off, so I should deal with all this so that I can get another few days off."
"What day off? You’re spending your rest time practicing your skills." Anna pouted. "This is too much."
"This is not too much. As a spirit transcendence, I can do this for a month or two without rest." Noel shrugged. "Besides, I have always gotten off at the same time so as not to force the maids to continue working."
"I am not talking about that." Anna glared at him. "At this rate, maybe having an early child will be better for us. This way, you can’t overwork yourself."
Noel was quite surprised when Anna mentioned a child. Because of his bloodline, he couldn’t produce more than one child. It showed how precious that one child is.
That was why any discussion about the child was something serious. The fact she mentioned it alone showed that she had been quite frustrated. After all, he had been working in his office for the last few days. Even when he left his office to retire to his room, he brought some work.
Due to how serious the current matter is, it wasn’t wrong for him to overwork himself. But Anna was also concerned about his well-being.
Even though Noel was strong, all this work would take a toll on his mind. If he ended up getting exhausted like this, resulting in him getting distracted during the battle, it would be a disaster.
Noel scratched the back of his head before sighing. "All right. You win."
Anna’s face brightened. "Really?"
"Yeah. I will take a break." Noel dropped his feather pen and put his hand on her back. "So, what do you want to do?"
"Let’s see..." Anna playfully rotated herself so that her knees could rest on the side of the soft chair cushion, her body fully facing Noel. "What should I do?"
"What? You haven’t thought about it?"
"I didn’t think I could convince you to be honest." Anna looked away, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Pfft." Noel chuckled. "What am I to do with you?"
Anna didn’t care much about what they were doing. Just seeing Noel drop his work and laugh like this was enough.
Even though Noel had taught her a lot of things regarding territory management, she wasn’t the type of person who did all the paperwork. Of course, she personally could do it, but she was better as a messenger or doing odd jobs for Noel.
As a result, all this paperwork was given to Noel and Rose. Then again, Noel was extremely efficient about it, if not for the fact he loved to do the stuff that was meant for the next few days, which was the main reason he holed up inside his office.
If not for this habit, he would have gotten off work a few hours ago.
"Let’s see... How about..." Noel just hugged Anna tightly as he buried himself on her chest.
"What?"
"Nothing. I’m just recovering my stamina. What to do? If I hug my wife like this, my stamina will recover as she wishes for."
Anna’s hands were shaking as he just dropped such a cheesy line so calmly. She was already blushing even though they had gone much further than this.
With a red face, she said, "It can’t be helped then. I am your wife, so I am going to help you by letting you borrow my body for a bit."
Even though he had been leading their relationship this whole time, Anna also loved to spoil Noel. It was probably something that grew in her starting from spoiling his stomach with her cooking from the first time she paired up with Noel.
Noel smiled, as Anna’s reaction was always amusing. "By the way, have you figured out your king path?"
Anna thought it would be awkward if they just did this for a while without saying anything. Although the topic was quite heavy, it was probably just a small chat for Noel. "Well, yeah. In fact, I have come up with a new technique. I can’t talk about my king path, but I can tell you about my new technique."
"New technique?"
"Yes. I have experienced a single rebirth. Thanks to it, I have Anna with me. Anna and I are the same, but we’re not exactly the same. It’s a bit confusing when put that way. I am much more docile and calm, while Anna is much more energetic and headstrong."
"It’s not the other way around? Mmff!" Noel’s mouth was shut as she tightened her hug, sealing his mouth with her stomach, as if telling him to shut up.
"Anyway, it’s like two different qualities being mixed together. Everything is about me, so there’s no reason why I should differentiate it, right?
"This new technique makes the calm strike violent and the violent energy calm. Due to the opposite quality, it can go to either extreme whenever I want it."
"That’s rather useful."
"I know, right? Can you use it? Maybe like fire and ice."
"I don’t know. Ardagan’s flame is simply too strong, so Heisk’s ice can’t keep up."
"That’s a shame. It would have been good if you could master both elements or even fuse them. I mean, you have once created multiple extremes, no? I’m talking about the Everchanging Sword Style. Although you still subtly use it, it’s not as apparent as before."
"Mhmm. I will think about it later."
Their peaceful moment, unfortunately, was shattered as Rose suddenly stormed into the room. "Master..."
She was stunned when she saw Noel and Anna’s positions, wondering if she should give them some time. However, she shook her head due to the severity of this matter. "We have received other news about an attack. It’s in Count Halder’s territory, not far from Marquis Stargaze’s territory."
