"You…" Oscar looked at the masked man in shock. He knew who he was, but at the same time, he didn't expect that person would be working for Noel.
After all, it was clear that he was supposed to be an enemy. It was just… Why did they suddenly work together?
In that instant, Oscar suddenly understood everything. He never betrayed anyone. He just made it look that way to fool everyone.
However, that ended not long ago. The information about their headquarters was clearly coming from him.
Everything was just a lie to fool the Supreme Devil Organization. At the same time, the price of fooling the organization was too heavy.
He… might have to wear a mask for the rest of his life, since he had been branded as a traitor.
Even Noel should know how risky it was to have that person under him. At the same time, Oscar understood that despite knowing who that person was, there was simply no way for him to call that name. After all, it would be the same as destroying the relationship they had so far.
He felt the distance between them. This distance was extremely far. After all, despite standing in front of him, he couldn't recognize him.
Even though he wanted to share a lot of stories, not a single word could be spoken.
They were best friends, yet when facing each other, they could be nothing but strangers.
It was an unbearable distance. Oscar could only grit his teeth and throw his head to the side.
The masked man only closed his eyes for a moment before bowing to Noel and disappearing again.
Noel felt sad. Oscar was broken because his two best friends had to leave him without him realizing the whole truth.
In the end, Oscar didn't say anything else and just walked away after killing the rest of the demons.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group had finally annihilated all the demons in their path. After recovering their crystals, the group continued their journey, approaching the headquarters of the Supreme Devil Organization.
After a journey that took half a day, they finally reached a mountain.
"This is the headquarters?" Noel raised his eyebrows, staring at this not-big mountain. In fact, it was just a little bigger than a hill.
"Yes, Patriarch." The masked man nodded. "Although it looks like this, there is a huge limestone cave inside. I believe they have covered the secret entrance, but I don't know if they destroyed the cave or not.
"But seeing the mountain hasn't collapsed, I believe they didn't destroy it."
Noel squinted his eyes. "Indeed. Alright. You tell Howard to prepare. I'll talk to Oscar."
"Yes." The masked man bowed.
Noel walked to Oscar, who seemed to have another thought about this base.
Oscar explained, "There might be a trap inside. If the cave hasn't collapsed, it means they can make it collapse in one way or another. It's a trap to bury us alive."
"It's feasible. That's why I'm thinking about spreading our people to search around the mountain. Meanwhile, both of us will lead several elites to enter this place. Both you and I are not scared of getting buried by this small mountain, right?"
Oscar smiled. "Who do you think you're talking to? There's no way the commander of the Demon Banner Army is scared of this small mountain."
Noel nodded and waved his hand, ordering out loud, "Howard, Grandel, Felicia. You three will spread out and search around the mountain. Send 3 elites of your group to Incetta.
"Incetta, Deep Cat, you two will follow me and bring 3 elites from your groups and send the rest to work with Howard, Grandel, and Felicia."
"Understood." They acknowledged the order and arranged it according to the plan.
Oscar was the same. He ordered, "Drente, you are to take command of our people outside. Send your Zero Squad to me. Clara, Shale, you two will also go with me, along with your Zero Squad. The rest of the people will be under Drente."
"Understood." The three captains received the orders.
Noel added, "We'll enter the base, so we'll proceed with the agreement. You can have anything else, but I want the inheritance of my family if it's still there."
"I know that. You're the one finding this place, so even if you take everything, no one is going to say anything." Oscar shrugged. "You can enter first if you want."
"No need. We can enter together. After all, this is a joint operation. If I go alone, it won't look good in your subordinates' eyes."
"Fair enough. We can just split up inside."
"Yeah. Let's do that."
Once they finished with their arrangements, Noel and Oscar led the elites to enter the cave.
The masked person guided them to the entrance as if he knew this place. He opened the secret entrance hidden, and as expected, they had destroyed the entrance.
"We probably have to dig here, huh?" Oscar frowned. "We have a few days, so it's fine to take our time, I guess."
"No need." Noel shook his head and moved forward. He extended both of his hands. Black flame gushed out of his right hand, burning the rock to nothing but ashes. Meanwhile, the left hand formed ice that covered the wall, the floor, and the ceiling, reinforcing them so as to prevent them from collapsing.
Noel's control was so perfect that the flame and ice didn't interfere with each other.
In just thirty seconds, the path opened up. The ice maintained its form to prevent anything from collapsing.
"Two elements are cheating." Oscar let out a sigh. "And you also have your rune…"
"Hehehe." Noel harrumphed.
The people from the Demon Relief Squad had a smug smile on their faces. They had worked with Noel for a period of time, so they knew how Noel usually solved a problem.
Clara only rolled her eyes, wanting to ask why they were so smug about it even though they did nothing.
"Let's enter."
