The demons were walking around the forest until a group of humans suddenly appeared on the side of the slope.
It was a group led by Grandel.
"We've spotted the demons. Charge!" He shouted, leading the entire group down the slope.
They cut down one demon after another easily.
Meanwhile, Noel remained in the village while staring into the distance. "It's over, huh?"
Noel turned around, as there was no need to observe anymore.
"Can you actually sense a group of demons from that far? Looking at this distance, it's at least several hundred meters." Layla squinted her eyes.
"Yeah. The way you utilize your spiritual energy is different, which allows me to sense things farther away." Noel nodded. "I will check them tomorrow, but for now, there should be no demons around. Your group has taken down the enemy on the west as well."
"I see." Layla nodded. She then turned around, looking at the village situation.
Since the demons didn't harm anyone or destroy any buildings, the villagers were taking lessons from Jasmine on how to farm more efficiently.
Meanwhile, all the artisans Noel had brought here had split up.
No one was cutting down the woods simply because it was Noel's job. Noel simply cut the trees with a single wave of his sword before bringing back all the logs with his spiritual energy.
It allowed them to gather a huge amount of wood in a short amount of time.
On the other hand, his people had started laying out the foundation for the new road.
"Are things going well from your perspective? How long do you think it will continue?" Noel asked.
"Hmm…" Layla crossed her arms. "I think it's going extremely well. It usually takes much longer than this, but we have a lot more people this time.
"At this rate, we can probably finish in just a month. Once the knights are done with the extermination process, they can help with the construction after all," explained Layla. "What's wrong? Do you think it's too slow?"
"A bit." Noel nodded.
"Well, what do you expect? We have less than a hundred people, you see…"
"Fair point." Noel shrugged. "Well, I will help with the construction as well. And it's not like I can be away from my office for that long."
"Ah. Anna has told me about it." Layla nodded in understanding. "It's simple. You just have to stay here for two or three more days before going back to your office. Let your subordinates do the rest.
"Even your people should understand that you have to continue working. In addition, this is just the first trip, and it's a place that is usually hard to reach. So, we can't get more people involved.
"However, if we help a city or a much bigger village, we can probably speed things up. That's why you don't have to worry. It might speed up later in the future.
"Right now, you are testing things to see which ones will work."
Noel crossed his arms. "That's true. Anyway, I will be helping with the construction to speed things up. Do you need anything else?"
"No. I will be going around to see if anyone needs my help. Do your best, Marquis. After all, this is a good time to bond with your people." Layla winked playfully.
Noel nodded in agreement.
While he was walking toward the village, Ardagan suddenly opened up the system panel.
[Master. I've got good news.]
"Good news?"
[Yes. Take a look at this.]
[You've received a mission.]
[Mission: Charity]
[Description: Complete 3 Charity Missions (0/3)]
[Reward: Territorial Medal System.]
"Huh? What does this mean?" Noel frowned.
[This is practically a new system that your ancestors have yet to experience. Thanks to us becoming one, the spirits are more supportive of us. As a result, it allows me to create this new system in the Noble Category.]
[Allow me to explain. This is a new system that allows you to put a medal on your territory. Please look above the village.]
Noel raised his head, seeing the village name.
"The village name? It's suddenly there…"
[Arang Village.]
[Yes. Once the new system is opened up, you will see another slot appearing beneath that name. It allows you to insert a medal that you've acquired in the noble category.]
[For example, you can use Food Medal I, which will boost one yield by 0.5%]
[By doing it, the village will receive that boost permanently until you take off the medal.]
"That's useful." Noel crossed his arms. "But 0.5% won't feel that much, no?"
[Definitely. However, it will be a different matter if you have twenty cities with that medal.]
"Fair point. But can I even equip those medals? Do I have enough medals to begin with?"
[Aren't you grinding for them now?]
"Yeah."
[That's how it is. There are two things you need to keep in mind. First of all, a different type of civilization will have their own slots of medal.]
[A village will allow you to put one medal to boost them. A small city will allow you to hold two medals. A major city can contain three medals. A capital city will be able to contain four medals and a kingdom will get three universal medals.]
"A kingdom?" Noel frowned.
[It's just something I have to explain. However, I know that you don't want to become a king. Hence, the kingdom will be fused with the capital city and shape it into a new form, which is the Home City.]
[The Golden Dawn Village will be registered as the Home City unless it is changed. This city will allow you to use 3 medals and one universal medal.]
"That's useful. What is this universal medal?"
[Basically, both of them are medals. However, the normal medal slots will only grant the effect on that particular city. Meanwhile, the universal medal will give the blessing to the entire land registered under the Ardagan family.]
Noel looked surprised. "That's extremely useful. However, this power is so magical. I can't even think how you can even do this… unlike the fighting medals, which is basically taking over my spiritual energy reserve."
[Don't worry. I have an explanation for it as well.]
"Let's hear it."
