Lu Yin took a step forward, kicking up a gust of wind that caused the void beneath his feet to twist and coil. Yu Shan found himself unable to step onto Boundless without losing footing and falling to a disadvantage. He was startled, as he had not expected Lu Yin to possess such strength.
Yu Shan pulled out a folded fan from his cosmic ring, and he used it to lightly tap the void while pointing it at Lu Yin.
The fan slammed into the void like a boulder striking the water, creating ripples at the point of impact. Each ripple contained enough power to nearly rival the Pridebeast, which had reached the limit of physical strength.
Anyone who reached this level of strength would be regarded as exceptionally powerful, even in the Tianyuan Megaverse. This was a similar level as the Three Realms and Six Daos.
Lu Yin did not underestimate his opponent. After all, this man was ranked second on the White Spirit List. While that list did not include all of the Spirit Nidus’s sequence powerhouses, ranking second still spoke volumes of Yu Shan’s strength.
This man was undoubtedly a Realmbreaker.
Despite his apparent youth, Yu Shan had cultivated for countless years, and he was most likely not much younger than the Three Realms and Six Daos. The Hundred Grasses Domain had also fallen into decline for a great many years.
The ripples surged toward Lu Yin, aiming to push him back so that Yu Shan could step onto Boundless. Lu Yin countered by flicking a finger to produce ripples of his own. These ripples undulated like coiled dragons as they swept through the void and forced Yu Shan’s ripples aside.
Seeing this caused Yu Shan’s expression to change drastically. He stared at Lu Yin in shock. This man possessed so much power! How was that even possible?
Lu Yin looked quite young, and people believed that he had only cultivated for a thousand years, at most. Yu Shan’s strength was the result of countless years, as well as receiving guidance from his master and training in Veilparter. Yu Shan had even competed with creatures that had reached the limit of physical strength in the Spirit Nidus.
How had Lu Yin achieved such power?
Yu Shan stopped underestimating Lu Yin, despite clearly sensing that Lu Yin was only a Spirit Ancestor.
Sequence particles spread out as Yu Shan’s aura spiked. A terrifying power erupted from his body, forming an illusory pillar that rose into the sky before crashing back down onto Lu Yin.
Old Tao blurted, "The ninth-ranked sequence technique! Infinite Strength."
Yuan Qi’s eyes narrowed. "Of the eighty-eight sequence techniques, Finite Strength ranks fourteenth, while Infinite Strength ranks ninth. This law draws upon the vast power of the stars to produce limitless strength. I didn’t consider the possibility that he had cultivated this law of the universe."
Physical strength was the foundation of Yu Shan’s power, but he did not know that the same was true of Lu Yin.
Lu Yin was able to use his inner universe to repel sequence particles, but he decided to use a different tactic against Yu Shan’s Law of Infinite Strength.
Repelling the sequence particles? There was no need for that. He would use true strength to face this attack head-on.
Lu Yin refused to believe that sequence particles alone were enough to raise Yu Shan’s strength beyond Lu Yin’s own. If that were possible, Hongyan Mavis would not have lost when competing with the Pridebeast.
As his sequence particles erupted, Yu Shan stood a meter outside of Boundless. The pillar that had formed crashed downwards with tremendous force.
Lu Yin raised a hand, his palm facing the sky.
A cold light flickered in Yu Shan’s eyes. You’re seeking death.
Boom!
The expected destruction did not occur. Lu Yin held the pillar aloft with one hand, redirecting the terrifying force to the side. Caught off guard, Yu Shan was struck by the backswing of his own attack, and he spat out blood as he was sent flying.
The next moment, Lu Yin flicked his fingers and shattered the pillar. The movement also scattered the void as though it was just clouds being dispersed.
The astonishing scene that had just played out vanished as though it had never even occurred. Silence descended upon the region.
"I... I didn’t see that wrong, did I? Did Yu Shan use the ninth-ranked sequence technique, Infinite Strength, but still get pushed back?"
"By just one hand! That Third Boss only used one hand!"
"How is that possible? Could he really be an Ortuser?"
"Even if he was an Ortuser, it would be incredibly difficult to pull that off. He didn’t even use sequence particles, instead defeating Yu Shan with pure strength."
"I don’t believe it! That’s impossible!"
...
No one could believe what they had just seen. Yu Shan had been forced back by Lu Yin’s own strength, nothing more.
Lu Yin curled his fingers into a clenched fist, feeling a familiar power. Yu Shan’s attack, which had been amplified by the sequence particles of Infinite Strength, had been equal to the Pridebeast’s power. Such might was at the limit of physical strength.
In reality, Yu Shan could not reach that limit on his own. Creatures like the Pridebeast and the Megalish had reached the limit of physical power through their innate energies, while Yu Shan had done so by relying on sequence particles. While their methods differed, both paths reached the same hard limit. On the other hand, Lu Yin had surpassed that limit, and that was what had enabled him to overpower both the Pridebeast and the Megalith, not to mention Yu Shan, even when he used his sequence particles.
Without his sequence particles, Yu Shan would be about as strong as Hongyan Mavis, or possibly slightly weaker. However, with his sequence particles, he surpassed the woman and could even rival the Pridebeast.
But that was the limit of his strength.
The difference was that Yu Shan possessed different potential. The stronger his sequence particles became, the more power he would be able to harness, and subsequently, the stronger he would become.
In a sense, his sequence particles acted like a springboard, as they enabled Yu Shan to achieve something that was otherwise unattainable by human abilities. Surpassing such limits was what had brought Boundless to the Spirit Nidus.
No matter how strong a human might become, they would never be able to surpass the power of a megaverse.
The Law of Infinite Strength, which drew strength from the stars, was an excellent law of the universe.
Lu Yin was intrigued, and he even considered learning it, but there was no need. If the Gate of Laws had created a sequence base from the sequence particles of Infinite Strength, then he could simply steal it and absorb it. His inner universe needed to absorb more sequence particles, and that meant that Lu Yin did not need to comprehend or cultivate such things himself.
He hoped that there was such a sequence base. No, there should be one. Would the High Seraph not have prepared as much for his disciple?
If Bao Qi was capable of taking a shortcut to become a Seraph with the Cauldron Bell, then Yu Shan could do the same. Lu Yin just hoped that the man’s many years of effort had not been wasted.
Yu Shan regained his footing in outer space, still unable to believe what had just happened.
Had he lost in a contest of strength? How was that possible? He had mastered Infinite Strength! His raw power could not be matched by most beasts in the Spirit Nidus. With his sequence particles further strengthening him, Yu Shan knew that he had touched upon the limit of physical strength, so how had he still lost?
He stared at Lu Yin in disbelief, but Lu Yin just scoffed. "It would appear that you still haven’t boarded Boundless."
In order to meet with Yuan Qi, Yu Shan needed to overpower Lu Yin, but doing that meant that he first needed to step onto Boundless.
From the moment he first attacked, Yu Shan had been focused entirely on killing Lu Yin and meeting Yuan Qi. He had never imagined that, even with his sequence particles, he would not be able to step onto the battleship.
The cultivators who were observing Boundless understood what had happened as well, and it left them dumbfounded. Yu Shan was the one taking action! He was a powerhouse who was destined to become an Ortuser. He ranked second on the White Spirit List. He was a future Seraph and the High Seraph’s own disciple. Despite all of that, the man was incapable of even boarding Boundless. He had been stopped by a young man.
Just who was this Third Boss?
Ce Wangtian burst into laughter. This kid had kicked an iron wall. While it might appear that the Origin Progenitor was the most powerful being in the Tianyuan Megaverse, the most troublesome one was unquestionably Lu Yin.
Chu Yi and the others looked away. With Lu Yin standing in the way, not even a Seraph could step onto Boundless.
Out of everyone in the entire Spirit Nidus, it was possible that only the High Seraph could force his way on.
Cai Keqing glanced toward the bow. This man... is he really so powerful?
She had believed that the Third Boss had taken her because of her appearance, but the moment she stepped onto Boundless, he had never even looked at her again. Could he have forgotten about her?
Ba Liu, Cai Jun, and Yu Dang all grew excited. None of them had expected their Third Boss to be so powerful. His strength was simply overwhelming.
Lu Yin stood at the bow of the ship and gestured at Yu Shan. "Do you want to continue? Just kill me, and all of this will end. You’d also be helping your master, easing his burden."
Yu Shan relaxed his fists and let out a slow breath as he stared intently at Lu Yin. "I underestimated you.
"May I ask for your name?"
Lu Yin stretched lazily. "If you win, I’ll tell you. Losers don’t deserve to know."
Yu Shan did not grow angry. Lu Yin had proven his qualifications to speak in such a tone.
"Then please enlighten me. My master taught me the Nine Heavens Transformation. Let’s see how many transformations you are able to endure." As he spoke, Yu Shan stepped forward again, this time moving while undergoing the Nine Heavens Transformation.
Lu Yin’s focus sharpened as memories from the branch stream of the River of Aeons filled his mind. All he could see was the massacre at the Heavens Sect.
Visually, the two events were identical. On that day, the High Seraph had used this same technique, and each transformation had multiplied his power, which had completely overwhelmed Lu Yin. He had been defeated by a single palm strike, with no chance to even resist. The Nine Heavens Transformation had left a deep impression on him.
Countless powerhouses from the Tianyuan Megaverse had perished to this technique.
An uncontrollable killing intent blossomed within Lu Yin.
At that same moment, Yu Shan suddenly appeared, throwing a palm strike aimed at Lu Yin’s brow. The man’s aura was much stronger than before, and it was also compressed into a limited space. It was like steam building pressure inside a sealed vessel, ready to explode the moment it was released.
This palm strike contained the power of the Nine Heavens Transformation, as well as a startling number of Yu Shan’s sequence particles.
Lu Yin’s hand snapped up, and he countered with his own palm strike.
Boom!
The two hands collided, and Yu Shan’s expression changed drastically. Sharp pain shot through his hand as his bones shattered. He instantly realized that Lu Yin could increase his strength further than what he had used earlier. Thus, Yu Shan instantly underwent the second transformation of the Nine Heavens Transformation, followed by the third. Each transformation doubled his power.
Lu Yin’s arm was shrouded with Wielder-realm battle force as his inner universe unleashed Infinity, which manifested as an astral phenomena that swept through the area. He grabbed hold of Yu Shan’s arm and violently slammed the man down.
Boom!
Yu Shan spat out blood as his pupils dilated. He overcame the spiking pain and used his Spirit Transformation innate gift: Prison of Man. Thorny vines grew out from Lu Yin’s palm, and they tried to entangle him. However, Lu Yin just casually waved his hand and shattered the vines. He then kicked Yu Shan into a large tree in the Rain Observatory.
Yu Shan slammed into the tree, only to cough up blood again. His strength seemed drained, which left him unable to move.
His body slid down the tree, but he was eventually stopped by a branch, where he was left hanging. Blood trickled from his hand and his mouth. He looked truly pathetic at this moment.
Lu Yin was still standing at the bow of the battleship. He let out a breath, as he had vented a bit of his emotions.
Unconsciously, he had treated Yu Shan as though he were the High Seraph.
The Nine Heavens Transformation had brought back unpleasant memories, memories of a past that Lu Yin had managed to undo while vowing never to allow such events to reoccur.
Silence reigned.
When Yu Shan had started using the Nine Heavens Transformation, the people shadowing Boundless had grown excited. The Nine Heavens Transformation was the High Seraph’s signature technique, and with it, everyone had believed that it was impossible for Yu Shan to lose.
Unexpectedly, Yu Shan had lost instantly and overwhelmingly so at that.
A single clash between the two palms had resulted in Yu Shan being slammed into the ground and then kicked into a tree by the Third Boss.
Technically, Yu Shan had boarded Boundless, and he might even be able to see Yuan Qi.
However, meeting the Seraph in such a condition? Yu Shan would rather die. He had never imagined things playing out in such a manner.
At this moment, everyone’s understanding of Lu Yin’s strength had been forcefully reshaped. The man seemed unfathomable.
How had the man ranked second on the White Spirit List been defeated so easily? The Third Boss had treated the entire exchange casually, and he had not even used any sequence particles or a single battle technique, just raw strength. Just how strong was he? Could he rival those monsters in the Primal Beastland?
And on top of all that, he looked so young.
