Lu Yin returned to the Heavens Sect. Since he was unable to find Yu Leng and had also learned that the Nests were free from the constraints of karma, there was no need for him to worry about those matters.
What Lu Yin needed to do for the time being was resolve as much of his incomplete karma as possible.
Now was about the time when Progenitor Chen encountered Yuan Qi.
However, Progenitor Chen had only encountered the Rivers and Mountains Painting because he had been following Forgotten Ruins God. He had then succeeded in escaping from the sequence base and had returned to the Heavens Sect with news of the incident. Since Forgotten Ruins God had not been in the Dominion Realm after the temporal reversion, she must have also avoided time rolling back. Since that was the case, would Progenitor Chen still be able to find Yuan Qi?
Regardless of whether it happened or not, Lu Yin needed to first contact Progenitor Chen.
Several days later, the Rivers and Mountains Painting spread across a universe. Progenitor Chen stared at it from a distance, a fierce gleam in his eyes. He took a step forward and headed towards the painting.
Inside the Rivers and Mountains Painting, Yuan Qi felt puzzled. "Someone has actually come looking for us."
As he spoke, Zhan Yan looked out from the sequence base. "Is that Xia Shang? I saw him fighting at the Immemorial Citadel. How did he find us?
"Could it be because of Forgotten Ruins God? She was here just moments ago."
Yuan Qi frowned. Forgotten Ruins God had arrived and then immediately left. Right after she had left, Progenitor Chen had arrived. It was impossible to not feel that there was something off about the series of events.
"Regardless, we should get away from him first."
Since Forgotten Ruins God and the others had been inside the Rivers and Mountains Painting, Yuan Qi understood that Progenitor Chen had arrived because he was chasing after Forgotten Ruins God. The Seraph was not afraid, and he wanted to capture Progenitor Chen. However, Yuan Qi also did not know how Progenitor Chen had found them, and the Seraph was worried that he might be surrounded by the Heavens Sect’s experts. That was why he wanted to leave.
However, he was already too late.
The moment that Progenitor Chen laid eyes on the Rivers and Mountains Painting, Lu Yin also saw it and entered the sequence base one step ahead.
Yuan Qi was just about to leave with the painting when Lu Yin's body warped and entered.
His arrival startled Yuan Qi. "Lu Yin?"
Lu Yin looked at the Seraph as a smile spread across his lips. "Old man, I’ve finally found you."
Yuan Qi was puzzled. "You were looking for me? Just the two of you?"
As they were speaking, Progenitor Chen also entered the Rivers and Mountains Painting.
Yuan Qi sneered. "Young man, do you know where you are?"
Lu Yin surveyed his surroundings. "Is this the full strength of the Rivers and Mountains Painting? It's a bit larger than the one I took, but that doesn't matter. Bigger is better."
Yuan Qi did not understand what Lu Yin was saying. "You want to go up against one of my Spirit Nidus’s sequence bases? You two are seeking death."
As the old man spoke, the rivers, mountains, and earth that surrounded them transformed into endless sequence particles that pressed in upon Lu Yin and Progenitor Chen.
Progenitor Chen was startled. How could there be such an overwhelming number of sequence particles?
Lu Yin stepped forward and waved his hand. "Progenitor Chen, keep an eye on that woman. I’ll deal with Yuan Qi."
As he spoke, he released his inner universe, and a terrifying consciousness surged out and pressed down upon Yuan Qi. You may have sequence particles, but I have my consciousness.
While there was a truly extraordinary number of sequence particles, they were naturally driven back by Lu Yin's inner universe. He had already devoured Whiteless God and Xu Jin’s consciousness, merging it with his own. There was no doubt that Lu Yin’s consciousness was at the Celestial level, making him as powerful as some of the most powerful conscients in the Consciousness Megaverse.
His consciousness formed a visible storm that bombarded Yuan Qi.
The Seraph was shocked. "Impossible!"
He had fought in the Consciousness Megaverse and faced Celestial-level conscients before, and he knew that they were second only to the Universe-level conscients, which were as powerful as Dukkhans. Above them was the legendary Cosmic level, which was equal to the Immortal realm, but such a powerful consciousness was merely a legend. No one had actually reached that level.
In other words, a consciousness at the Ortuser level was already close to the pinnacle of the Consciousness Megaverse. Lu Yin’s consciousness far surpassed any of the Celestial-level conscients that Yuan Qi had encountered before.
At the very least, Yuan Qi had never dealt with a conscient who had cultivated a Universe-level consciousness while fighting in the Consciousness Megaverse.
If Progenitor Chen was taken aback by the sheer number of sequence particles that the sequence base contained, then Yuan Qi was startled by Lu Yin's consciousness.
In the face of this terrifying consciousness, Yuan Qi turned around and fled.
When he first participated in the war against the Consciousness Megaverse, Yuan Qi had relied on his Dao Bell to block Celestial-level consciousnesses. While he had learned how to fight against powerful conscients and had even been capable of fighting against Universe-level opponents, it had all been because of his Dao Bell. However, his bell was now broken, and this enemy's consciousness was too strong. The Seraph had no intention of staying and fighting.
How was this even possible? Lu Yin’s consciousness had not been this terrifying during the last battle at the Immemorial Citadel. If he had, Yong Heng might not have been able to escape. How much time had passed since that battle? Already, the young man had succeeded in transforming his power of consciousness, but just how had he done it?
Yuan Qi wanted to escape, but Zhan Yan was even more desperate to run.
Her spiritual weapon, the Jintian Painting, had already been broken by Lu Yin, crippling her strength. Confronted with Progenitor Chen, not even the help of the Rivers and Mountains Painting made the woman the Progenitor’s match. Progenitor Chen's Linkned Palm borrowed sequence particles from the Rivers and Mountains Painting, and the woman struggled to understand what she was facing.
How could an outsider from the Tianyuan Megavese use the Rivers and Mountains Painting to attack?
In the previous timeline, even when Yuan Qi wielded the sequence base, Progenitor Chen had been able to escape, let alone when Zhan Yan was the one using the sequence base.
When compared to Yuan Qi, Zhan Yan was greatly lacking.
The entire Rivers and Mountains Painting was trembling, and mountains and rivers were constantly disappearing.
Lu Yin arched a brow. This was not good. If too many of the Rivers and Mountain Painting’s sequence particles were consumed and it became smaller than what he had acquired before, it would be impossible to resolve his unfulfilled karma with this sequence base.
Thinking of this, Lu Yin moved forward with Inverse Step. He moved at the speed of time to get close to Yuan Qi.
The Seraph shouted fiercely, "Young man, this is one of my Spirit Nidus's sequence bases! Do you really think that you can deal with me in this place? Leave now, or else I will bury you both, and we will all perish inside of this sequence base!"
"Old man, what’s a sequence base?"
Yuan Qi suddenly moved away, right before Lu Yin abruptly appeared. The two stared at each other. One had an indifferent expression, and the other’s was etched with fear.
Yuan Qi could see through the power of time. While his Spirit Nidus was greatly lacking when it came to developing time-related powers because they did not have access to the Mirari Realm, Lu Yin could not stump the Seraph with something as simple as moving at the speed of time.
"My Spirit Nidus has the Limits and Sanctis, as well as ten sequence bases and the eighty-eight sequence techniques. The Limits and Sanctis refer to…"
Throughout their fight in the branch of the River of Aeons, Yuan Qi had told Lu Yin about many things, and he repeated that same order of events during their current battle.
"Young man, are you still not retreating? If you refuse, I will bury you, even if I am forced to sacrifice this sequence base," Yuan Qi threatened.
At some point in time, Lu Yin’s consciousness had stopped bombarding Yuan Qi, and it had instead started to gather overhead.
Yuan Qi also noticed the change, and his expression fluctuated repeatedly. This consciousness was powerful enough to be a grave threat to even him. When this power fell, there was no doubt that the Seraph would be heavily injured.
In front of him, Lu Yin threw a palm strike from the distance. The terrifying attack shot through the void before landing on Yuan Qi.
The Seraph raised a hand, using Veilparter to clash with Lu Yin's attack. Powerful shockwaves rippled out with enough force to shake even the sequence particles.
Yuan Qi's hand turned red. He was utterly shocked by Lu Yin's physical strength. This young man’s palm strike was more powerful than the Seraph’s own ultimate attack. Veilparter was a battle technique from the Ascendant Hall, and it was the same technique that the High Seraph himself used.
Yuan Qi did not hesitate to turn around and leave the Rivers and Mountains Painting. He would not continue to fight. It had become clear to him that Lu Yin would not let the Seraph go, and the consciousness that had gathered overhead felt like a sharp blade that could drop at any moment.
Upon seeing Yuan Qi leave, Lu Yin waved his hand. Lightstream appeared, and time reversed by one second.
As that happened, Yuan Qi reappeared, though he was badly startled by the sudden change.
Lu Yin seized the opportunity and waved his hand again. This time, his Setting Sun burned away Yuan Qi's knowledge of martial arts.
The Seraph’s pupils constricted. "A comprehension technique?"
Before he could react, the consciousness fell from up above.
This attack targeted not only Yuan Qi, but also Zhan Yan and even the entire Rivers and Mountains Painting.
Progenitor Chen let out a shout of amazement. He had never seen anyone refine their consciousness to such a level. This was no longer something as simple as the power of consciousness, but rather something far more terrifying.
As the consciousness descended, both Yuan Qi and Zhan Yan spat out blood. Zhan Yan simply crumpled up, barely even alive, while Yuan Qi grew dizzy. He pulled out his cracked Dao Bell and struck it.
The bell's toll rang throughout the entire Rivers and Mountains Painting. Yuan Qi simply wanted to buy himself a moment during which he could escape.
A mighty Seraph had been defeated, completely and unequivocally by a mere child. Still, Yuan Qi’s loss was due to the fact that his Dao Bell had already been damaged. If it had still been intact, his greater strength would have prevented him from losing so easily.
Lu Yin was already prepared to face Yuan Qi’s Dao Bell. As it rang, both Lu Yin and Progenitor Chen felt a moment of dizziness, but at the same time, Lu Yin destroyed a lantern that had appeared. It was from the Natural Art.
Yuan Qi's name had been written on this lanturn.
The bell rang, and the lantern was destroyed. Both things happened simultaneously.
Lu Yin felt a bout of dizziness, but Yuan Qi spat out a mouthful of blood before staggering back several steps. The old man almost fell to the ground.
His severe injuries consumed the opening that ringing his Dao Bell had created, and that delay allowed Lu Yin to regain control of his consciousness.
There was no denying that Yuan Qi was very powerful. If he was still in his prime, Lu Yin would have struggled greatly to deal with the Dao Bell, even with his extra thirty-seven years of experience.
After all, Yuan Qi was a formidable opponent whom even Mister Mu had struggled to defeat. Only by using the True Self Illuminating Technique and fighting with karma could Lu Yin hope to overcome Yuan Qi at his full power.
There was a bang, and the Dao Bell completely shattered.
Again, Yuan Qi tried to escape, but it was already too late.
He was struck in the back by Lu Yin's palm. The attack passed through the old man’s body, damaging his heart and causing him to fall.
Consciousness swept through again, and Yuan Qi bled from his seven orifices. He struggled to get back up, only to collapse.
Lu Yin exhaled, relieved that the matter had been resolved.
As he looked around, he saw that, while the Rivers and Mountains Painting was a bit smaller than it had been before the battle, it was more than large enough to resolve the incomplete karma, and that was all that mattered.
Progenitor Chen lowered his hand. Throughout the battle, aside from restraining Zhan Yan, he had done barely anything else. Single handedly, Lu Yin had defeated two powerful opponents.
His terrifying consciousness was still fresh in Progenitor Chen’s memory.
Lu Yin slowly walked over to Yuan Qi's side. He picked the old man up and then turned to look at Progenitor Chen. "Thank you, Senior."
Progenitor Chen shook his head. "I didn't offer much help. You just keep getting stronger and stronger. Every time we meet, it feels like you've undergone a complete transformation. Already, you far surpass me."
Lu Yin smiled. "You're too modest, Senior. Both you and Progenitor Ku are the greatest of your era. Given enough time, you can surpass anyone."
Progenitor Chen did not argue, as he was confident of doing exactly what Lu Yin had said.
He, Xia Shang, was able to surpass anyone. Given enough time, it would not be impossible for him to surpass even the Origin Progenitor. That was how self-confident Progenitor Chen was.
As for Ku Jie, while the man had kept a very low profile, it was difficult to see through him. To Progenitor Chen, it had always felt like, no matter how high he climbed, the other man would always catch up.
Progenitor Chen had already been informed about the temporal reversion, and thus he understood that Progenitor Ku was no longer in the Tianyuan Universe, but rather in the Mirari Realm. The man had sacrificed himself to karma to help Lu Yin escape. There was no knowing if the man would be trapped for a long time, or even forever.
Lu Yin had experienced the cycles of karma once, and he never wanted to go through such a thing again. He could not even guess how many cycles Progenitor Ku would have to endure.
Such fearlessness had to be admired.
"Forgotten Ruins God simply stopped in this place before leaving. She apparently lured you here on purpose. She should have also avoided the temporal reversion," Lu Yin commented.
Progenitor Chen asked, "Then why did she lead me here?"
Lu Yin's eyes flickered, as he did not know. Was it also because of karma?
