The cloaked figure didn't stop or even slow down when it saw me charging at it with Joan.

Instead, it seemed like the cloaked figure was incensed and even started charging faster at me. It was as if the cloaked figure just couldn't wait to clash with me and Joan head on.

When it came closer, it raised its swords and there were flames and lightning that appeared around them.

It seemed that corruption energy wasn't the only thing that this cloaked figure was able to use, it seemed that it was also able to use magic with the way that it created flames and lightning around its weapons like this.

Judging by the mana that was coming from those swords, these spells definitely weren't weak.

It seemed to have just as much mana, if not more mana than me.

With all the abilities that it was demonstrating, it was hard to imagine how it had fallen down the path of corruption like this. It shouldn't have fallen to the one that controlled the corruption energy that easily.

Well, unless…

There was one scenario that had been running through my mind the entire time, one scenario that I had been trying to deny. After all, if that scenario was true, then it would be a terrifying scenario.

But the way that this cloaked figure acted, it made me think that this scenario really was what it was.

In the end, we didn't clash.

Right before the cloaked figure could reach us, I suddenly had Joan dive down.

The cloaked figure was completely caught off guard by this and wasn't able to stop in time, causing them to fly right past us. But when they did react, they suddenly dived down as well.

Only what met them were the flames from Joan's mouth.

This wasn't just a normal flame breath that was released, these were flames that had a bit of a glow to them. These were flames that had been produced after the Mark of God appeared on Joan's forehead.

So these were flames that had been infused with divine energy.

The cloaked figure also seemed to recognize the danger from these flames, so it suddenly pulled on the reins and had its horse go up. It was just that with the momentum that it currently had, it wasn't able to escape the flames fast enough.

The only thing that the cloaked figure could do was release part of its cloak to create a barrier.

This barrier of corruption energy was able to keep the flames away for a bit, but they burned through that barrier in the end. The flames were just too strong for this small barrier of corruption energy to completely stop.

But that bought enough time for the cloaked figure's horse to move out of the way.

The flames went straight up before disappearing from sight.

After that, the cloaked figure didn't seem like it was planning on charging at us again. That only failure had been enough for the cloaked figure to realize that charging at us wasn't a good idea.

Charging at us would just allow us to out maneuver the cloaked figure and attack from angles that it didn't expect. It couldn't just keep rashly charging and giving up opportunities like this.

But if it didn't approach…

"Who are you? Why do you wield the divine power of the gods?" The cloaked figure finally chose to speak.

Instead of maintaining the same attitude as before, it finally seemed to recognize that Joan and I weren't easy to deal with, so it was resorting to words. Though it seemed like it couldn't lose the arrogance that it had as it seemed to be talking down to us still.

"Isn't it good manners to introduce yourself first? You still haven't told us what you mean by Apostle of Destruction. How about you start there and then I'll answer your question once you give me an answer I'm satisfied with?" I said in response.

I naturally wouldn't just listen to this cloaked figure that easily and tell it what it wanted to know for free.

If it wanted information, it was only natural that it should give up information first.

But it seemed that my words made it angry.

"You dare speak of the great Destruction like this? You insolent fool! This world belongs to Lord Destruction and will be broken down before taking its true form!" The cloaked figure said in almost a hysterical manner as if it was losing control of itself.

I couldn't help looking at the cloaked figure with a strange look.

After all, this definitely wasn't what I expected from the cloaked figure.

I thought that it would act a completely different way because of how it looked, but it seemed like this cloaked figure didn't follow the source material. It almost seemed like this cloaked figure was a fanatic that worshipped this 'Destruction' that it spoke of.

That just made me even more curious what this 'Destruction' was.

However…it seemed that my words also pushed it over its limits.

It seemed that this Apostle of Destruction wasn't going to take my affront to the great 'Destruction'.

So it suddenly put the dagger away and took out something else.

It was hard to see what the shape of this thing was since there was this powerful corruption energy that was surrounding it. But eventually I was able to tell that it was some kind of sword.

With how much corruption energy was swirling around it, it really seemed like some kind of final weapon that this cloaked figure had taken out. It looked like this cloaked figure was about to make a final stand.

Only that wasn't what happened at all.

The cloaked figure didn't even turn that sword at us, it instead pointed the sword at itself.

It actually held the tip of its sword right up to its chest, as if it was about to…

"Great Lord Destruction, please descend into this unworthy vessel!"

Then without hesitation, it stabbed the sword into its chest.
