Chapter 4559: Scruples

Editor: Misty Cloud Translations

Elder Mo instructed his staff to carry Seventeen to a room in the small courtyard at the back, and prescribed medicines for them to boil. He then had his staff clear the curious onlookers who had gathered at the medical center’s entrance. However, before he could address the other children and individuals, he was informed that the City Lord, along with the Patriarchs and power holders of various forces in the city, had arrived at the medical center.

“Old Patriarch, Old Predecessor, the City Lord has arrived and is waiting outside. The Patriarchs and Old Ancestors of the various clans in the city have also come,” the Medical Hall apprentice reported, his face showing clear nervousness.

Beside him, a middle-aged man, hearing this, looked at Elder Mo and said, “Father, should I go out and see what they want?”

“I’ll go with you,” Elder Mo sighed lightly. “I suspect they want to see the children.”

The two of them walked outside, and upon reaching the outer room, they found it packed with people, some standing, some sitting. Despite a “closed for rest” sign being posted due to the sudden arrival of the children and the imposing silver wolf, it hadn’t deterred the city’s power holders from gathering at the door.

...

“Elder Mo,” the City Lord greeted with a smile, stepping forward.

“City Lord,” Elder Mo bowed, then gestured to the others, “And to all of you! Your presence truly honors my humble medical hall!”

“Ha ha, Elder Mo is being modest,” one of the old men chuckled. “We heard there are some extraordinary individuals in the city, accompanied by a rare silver wolf, and we were curious to see what was happening.”

“Elder Sun, I’m afraid that won’t be possible,” Elder Mo said softly. “Those individuals are currently resting in our backyard to recover from their injuries, and they have expressly stated they do not wish to be disturbed, so…”

Upon hearing this, the people exchanged glances. One of them inquired, “I wonder, Elder Mo, what grade of spirit beast is that silver wolf? Did they mention which clan it belongs to? Or how they arrived here?”

“Ha ha, I run a medical center, and my focus is on healing the sick and injured, not inquiring about such matters! I truly don’t know the answers to your questions,” Elder Mo replied, waving his hand.

“Since they’re in your backyard, surely we could take a quick look, right?” Another person tentatively suggested.

“It’s not that I wish to prevent you,” Elder Mo said, looking at them, “but I’m concerned for your safety! That silver wolf is guarding the courtyard, and one of the young masters has warned that while the wolf won’t harm anyone who doesn’t provoke it, it will certainly react if disturbed.”

This warning made some of those who had been eager to explore hesitate.

“As the host here, representing the City Lord’s Manor, I would like to invite them to stay at the manor to recuperate, fulfilling my duty as their host,” the City Lord said, smiling at Elder Mo. “Elder Mo, could you please have someone relay my invitation and ask for their opinion?”

“This…”

Elder Mo paused, then said, “Very well! City Lord, please wait a moment, and I’ll ask them personally.” With that, he instructed his son to entertain the guests and went to the backyard.

In the backyard, upon hearing Elder Mo’s words, Hao’er looked at him and asked, “Are we causing you trouble by staying here?”

“Ha ha, not at all. It’s just that everyone is curious about you and your companions, so…”

Nodding, Hao’er said, “I understand. I’ll go out and speak with them.” As soon as he finished speaking, he led the silver wolf towards the front.
