“Young hero Chu Feng, can a rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist determine the weakest spot in our clan’s protective formation?” Zhan Mudan asked with an awful complexion.
“It is extremely difficult, but the other party came prepared. I wouldn’t exclude such a possibility,” Chu Feng replied.
“That isn’t good.” Zhan Mudan’s complexion darkened. “Young hero Chu Feng, it takes us significant time to remove the copper spheres from the protective formation. Do you have a way to hasten the process?”
“I can find a faster way to do it, but why do you want to remove the copper spheres? Are you hoping to relocate it to the weaker spots?” Chu Feng asked.
“We moved the copper spheres from other parts of the protective formation here, thinking the intruder would only focus on this spot, so this is the sturdiest part of the protective formation. There are many weaknesses elsewhere for him to exploit.
“There is one particularly weak spot. It is extremely discreet and outsiders typically wouldn’t target it, so we removed almost all the copper spheres in that area. If the other party can see through our formation, that spot is the most likely to be targeted,” Zhan Mudan said.
“Young master Chu Feng, do you think our barrier can hold on if we remove some copper spheres here?” Zhan Moli asked.
The copper wall was shaking earlier, and it only stabilized after Chu Feng drew out the copper spheres’ spirit power.
“This copper wall isn’t as brittle as you think. An attack of this level shouldn’t pose a problem,” Chu Feng said.
“Young hero Chu Feng, we’ll be troubling you to retrieve the copper spheres then,” Zhan Mudan said.
“All right.”
Chu Feng constructed a formation with a wave of his hand and swiftly retrieved the copper spheres.
All of a sudden, everything fell silent. The ten thousand slaughter formations simultaneously halted their attack and began relocating elsewhere as if having received an order.
The crowd was baffled.
“What’s going on?”
The Ancient Era’s War Clan’s upper echelons looked at Chu Feng in confusion, hoping to get some answers from him. Before Chu Feng could answer, all their waist tokens lit up.
The formation is breached. Evacuate the clansmen.
These were the words that appeared on their waist tokens.
All the clansmen anxiously flitted to the black city wall. Chu Feng, Little Fishy, and Xianhai Shaoyu followed them too.
“Looks like you’re right, Chu Feng. The copper wall was breached elsewhere,” Xianhai Shaoyu whispered.
All of a sudden, they sensed quakes coming from the black city wall.
“Has the black city wall been breached too?” Xianhai Shaoyu anxiously turned to Chu Feng and asked.
He was more concerned about their safety than the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s safety.
Chu Feng replied via voice transmission, “Let’s wait and see first.”
They soon arrived at the black wall. As they passed through it, it dawned upon them that the quakes were coming from the sky. Layers of energy descended from the sky like clouds and flowed in the same direction.
The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen realized something, and their complexions turned even more awful.
Chu Feng, Little Fishy, and Xianhai Shaoyu exchanged looks. Despite the sky being obscured by energy, they could tell that the energy was coming from the place where they had come from.
It was where the forbidden ground and the treasure were.
They hadn’t forgotten that they were in an underground formation realm, located beneath the treasure they sought.
“Where is the energy flowing toward?” Xianhai Shaoyu was curious.
“It is likely flowing toward where the protective formation was breached. I’m guessing it has something to do with the intruder,” Chu Feng deduced.
“Big brother, is the intruder after the treasure too?” Little Fishy asked via voice transmission.
Xianhai Shaoyu could hear the voice transmission too, and he replied, “Does that need to be said, my silly little sister? That has to be the case.”
“I’m asking big brother, not you.” Little Fishy glared at Xianhai Shaoyu. She cast a sweeping glance at the nervous-looking Ancient Era’s War Clansmen and continued asking, “The Ancient Era’s War Clansmen can’t possibly not know that the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist is after the treasure. They must be withholding the truth from us.”
“The situation looks complicated. Elder, what do you think?” Chu Feng asked Jie Shanxian, though Little Fishy and Xianhai Shaoyu could hear those words too.
“It’s a mere Ancient Era’s War Clan and a rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist. You have nothing to fear. I’m here to back you,” Jie Shanxian replied.
Only Chu Feng could hear those words.
“Elder, have you regained your cultivation?” Chu Feng asked.
“Not yet,” Jie Shanxian replied.
“Wouldn’t a rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist pose trouble to you?” Chu Feng was confused.
“Why can’t I beat a rank two Heavenly Dragon as a rank one Heavenly Dragon? You aren’t the only prodigy here,” Jie Shanxian asked in displeasure.
Chu Feng was excited to hear that. “That’s wonderful, elder. I have nothing to fear then.”
“Big brother, what did that elder say?” Xianhai Shaoyu and Little Fishy asked via voice transmission.
“The elder says that she’ll back us, and we need not fear the rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist or the Ancient Era’s War Clan,” Chu Feng replied.
Xianhai Shaoyu and Little Fishy breathed a sigh of relief.
The situation was getting messy now, the Ancient Era’s War Clan didn’t seem trustworthy, and their strength was limited. The only one they could fall back on now was Jie Shanxian.
“What’s with that energy?” Chu Feng asked Zhan Moli, feigning ignorance.
“Young master Chu Feng, I’ll fill you in on the details later, but from the current looks of it, the intruder might be more cunning than we have thought. We will likely require your help. Can you follow us to take a look at the situation?” Zhan Moli looked at Chu Feng with pleading eyes.
The other Ancient Era’s War Clansmen did the same too. It was evident from their gazes that they were in a tough spot.
“All right,” Chu Feng agreed.
On the one hand, he wanted to get to the bottom of the situation. On the other hand, he was much more confident now after hearing Jie Shanxian’s words.
Soon, they arrived at the spot along the black wall where the energy was flowing toward.
The energy had gathered in one spot, threatening to tear down the black wall like a raging tsunami. In response, the black wall and the runes inscribed on it glowed brilliantly it emitted waves of spirit power to stop the energy.
Even so, bits of the energy still managed to seep out.
Zhan Mudan took out her waist token and formed a hand seal. A portion of the black wall turned transparent, allowing one to see the scenery outside.
All energy that had seeped out of the black wall flowed in the same direction as if something was absorbing it. Two silhouettes could be vaguely seen amidst the flood of energy.
One was the young world spiritist depicted in Zhan Moli’s painting. The other was a cat smoking a pipe.
“Old Cat?”
The latter was the old cat who plundered Zhan Haichuan’s tombstone, but he looked different. His eyes were blood-red like a ferocious beast, and his aura was chilling.
His cat paws were joined together in a special hand seal as the energy surged into his body.
