AFTERWORD
This is Kisetsu Morita. Long time no see!
We have finally reached Volume 9 of I’ve Been Killing Slimes.
A lot of the earlier novels came out in such short intervals, so it doesn’t feel as though a lot of time has passed, but I had no idea I would be able to get this far. This is all thanks to your support. Thank you so much!
Now, I have all sorts of announcements today.
First: The I’ve Been Killing Slimes series has surpassed one million units sold!
Wow… This is truly unbelievable. There’s another digit on the number. It’s so important to just keep at it. At this point, my only thought is I really have had amazing luck, but I’m still happy!
Next: The ninth volume’s limited-edition version comes with the third drama CD, which features Falfa and Shalsha in all their glory as they play detective!
I never thought there’d be so many drama CDs… When we did the first one, I didn’t think we’d make this many, so the story was pretty similar to the type you’d find in the original novel with all the same characters. However, now that there’s a second and third CD, we’ve been able to tell stories that have a different POV.
I hope to show you the story of Slimes in all sorts of new ways!
Third: The comic adaptation of I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years, and the Demon King Made Me a Minister, starring Beelzebub and drawn by Meishi Murakami, has begun serialization in GanGan GA!
I never imagined my spin-off work would get a manga, too!
I just keep coming back to the thought of how good my luck is… Maybe this is the result of having visited every shrine and temple in the country. I should make an effort to do another round in the future, too.
This is a total tangent, but as I was saying this and that about shrines and temples, work came in for a book on Buddhist statues. This is indeed Buddha’s providence!
Well, all that aside, this spin-off manga will include stories that are not in the original novels and new characters in the future (I mean, there were only six stories in the original books anyhow).
Actually, when it was decided there would be a comic version of the spin-off, we agreed that I would add a whole bunch of short stories that would count as additional episodes, and then Meishi Murakami would draw chapters based on those stories. It’s essentially the first time that one of my stories will be presented as a manga first instead of as prose. I hope you’re looking forward to that!
Next topic: Volume 4 of Yusuke Shiba’s comic adaptation will be going on sale in April!
Please check out the newest volume of the manga—there are more characters, and the level of cuteness goes way up!
By the way, the first volume of the comic adaptation of A Mysterious Job Called Oda Nobunaga, all three volumes of which are on sale through GA Bunko, will go on sale in April as well! Riku Nishi’s art for the manga is so elegant and sleek. I hope you check this out, too!
I still have more: When this volume, Volume 9, goes on sale, Movic will be releasing two types of plastic file-folders that’ll use the novel’s cover art! We’ve had them made through campaigns before and whatnot, but this is the first time we’re getting official merch on sale! Yay!
Everyone, please use these folders for your studies or in your business. Advertising for this series has been very effective, so I’m terribly grateful. Those who are worried about it getting all banged up through use, I would be even more grateful if you bought one extra for safekeeping (direct marketing!).
Once they realize Slime merch sells well, they’ll make even more stuff, and I’ll be terribly happy, so please and thank you!
This is the last topic. The wall-scroll sweepstakes we did last time in celebration of the simultaneous release of Volume 8 of the novel and Volume 3 of the comic successfully came to an end! Congratulations to those who won a wall scroll! I’m sure some of you don’t know what to do with it because it’s much bigger than anticipated (I certainly don’t), but I would be happy if you put it up anyway.
Wow… So many things to talk about. It’s essentially just an announcement page in the guise of an afterword now, but I am truly thankful to have so many things to announce.
The series will be reaching its landmark tenth volume next time. I never even thought we’d get this far, not at all. I would be happy if I could keep going, little by little, forever.
In this volume, we introduced a new daughter (?) named Wynona. Benio has drawn so many wonderful illustrations again, including ones of the new characters. Thank you so much!
I didn’t even think we’d get to see Halkara’s little sister (still no name yet) in a full-color illustration!
It’s thanks to all of you who are supporting the series that we’ve managed to cross the line of one million copies sold. That is most certainly not something I alone could accomplish, so I honestly believe it is the result of good luck. I am so, so thankful.
The world of I’ve Been Killing Slimes will continue to expand! I plan on introducing even more characters! I hope you will stick with me!
