Vol.8 Chapter 7 Part 1
Four hundred hunting vehicles were flying in the direction Guo Shi’er’s escaped to.
They kept a certain distance from each other, and the further they flew, the more space between them widened. This was the frustration of trackers. Although they were many people and hunting vehicles, the area was just too large.
Guo Shi’er was almost vomiting blood as he flew. Flying at low altitude for long periods required his full concentration just to avoid bumping into things. At the speed he was going at, whatever he hit would be unbearable even if his body was already at the level of a Fu Warrior. Staring ahead for a long time was also not a pleasant feeling.
Although he flew as straight as he could, he often encountered mountains and trees ahead. He had to adjust his path when he encountered mountains and had to raise his altitude when he encountered trees. This was very dangerous for him, who knew what lied in the woods? If another mutant Fu insect jumped out, he wouldn’t have the time to kill it.
If he encountered another mutant Fu insect, even one that wasn’t that powerful, he would be held back and almost certainly be discovered by the Fu Ye. Hence, he didn’t dare to slow down at all so that even if a Fu insect found him, by the time it came out, he would have flown far away.
The hunting vehicle that was chasing after him increased its speed to the maximum. According to the mission given by the Elder, even if he couldn’t spot the little guy, they had to fly far ahead of the little guy, far enough to take him a day to reach them! From there, they would search the area and close him in. This was a powerful strategy and it was why Guo Shi’er flew forward desperately.
While he flew, Guo Shi’er suddenly noticed something was wrong. There were no more mountains in front of him. The peaks that used to appear after flying for a certain distance had disappeared and the trees were becoming more sparse. It was now mostly withered weeds, and as he continued to fly, even the withered weeds became sparse, revealing the dark brown ground.
However, Guo Shi’er didn’t dare to stop nor did he dare to fly back. At this point, he could only grit his teeth and continue forward.
Guo Shi’er landed in a dense patch of weeds that hard to find to replenish water and food. Flying at high speed was very tiring. After all, his body was not yet an adult’s and this kind of high-intensity flight was still too much for even an adult to handle. He was only eleven years old.
After hastily eating some dried meat and drinking a bit of fresh water, Guo Shi’er stood up and looked straight ahead. There was no shelter here, and despite his small size, he could be spotted at a glance. This was not a place to hide around. The lack of favorable terrain was very detrimental to him.
Guo Shi’er sighed, not daring to stop and flew forward once again.
He arrived at a despairing terrain. It was a vast piece of land without a trace of greenery in it. The ground was all gravel and there were no large rocks, making it completely impossible to hide.
After another long flight, there was a faint trace of a hunting vehicle behind him and night was soon arriving.
Guo Shi’er saw a small patch of random rocks that allowed him to hide for the time being. He knew he couldn’t fly any further in this open expanse, his flight path would be too obvious and he could easily be spotted by a flying vehicle. Even if the rocks weren’t an ideal hiding spot, he could duck down and wait until dark to continue his escape.
The rocks were part of a larger underground rock that extended above ground. Guo Shi’er scrambled and laid down by the rock, breathing hard and calming himself down with great difficulty. He rolled over and sat up, quietly crawling to a rock and looked behind him.
Although the distance was far, he knew that in just one hour, the hunting vehicles would be able to reach this area. This wasn’t really a suitable place to hide.
Guo Shi’er laughed bitterly, not expecting that the Altar Secret Realm to have a large area of just gravel. He couldn’t help but think of a saying from his previous life, the Grass Mud Horse! [1] It represented what he was thinking right now.
Guo Shi’er seized the time to eat. It was a good thing was that he always carried a large amount of food and water with him. Whether it was in a past or current life, he was extremely stubborn in his pursuit of food and would never allow a situation to arise where there was no food. In this life, with the help of the Hidden Fu Bag, it was even easier to carry large amounts of food and water. Thanks to this habit of his, he carried enough food and fresh water on him to last for half a year.
Quickly filling his stomach, Guo Shi’er continued to keep an eye on the surroundings. He was worried that the hunting vehicles would track him here before it was completely dark.
At this point, he didn’t pray anymore, because once he did, something bad would come. It was something he had experienced many times before, so he just stared at the sky, keeping his mind blank.
A hunting vehicle suddenly appeared. Guo Shi’er’s heart tightened and he subconsciously shrank his head, staring intensely at the hunting vehicle.
The path of the hunting vehicle’s flight would definitely pass through this rocky area. He didn’t want to take any chances and was ready to fight at any moment.
The good thing was that it was about to get dark, and once the battle started, he would have the cover of darkness and would still have a chance to escape.
Looking at the approaching hunting vehicles, Guo Shi’er breathed a sigh and thought, “Damn it, come as you like! Since you’re looking for death, then I’ll make it happen!” He was prepared to be discovered.
Two golden threads shot out and he controlled them to keep them from turning into blades of light, only hovering around him.
The hunting vehicle swept through the rocky area. They had come to scout out this small area of gravel and rock since there was nowhere else around to hide. It was very eye-catching.
As the hunting vehicles flew above Guo Shi’er’s head, the golden threads hovering around him rose up in the air.
Guo Shi’er flew up at the same time. The golden threads turned into huge blades of light, and as Guo Shi’er flew up, they swiftly moved towards the vehicle.
The people in the hunting vehicle were obviously prepared. As the light blades approached, the entire hunting vehicle flashed and a light shield appeared, however, the people in the hunting vehicle had underestimated the power of the light blade. Guo Shi’er had tapped into the Sword Talisman’s potential after he had advanced to an Advanced Rune Grandmaster. Its power was much greater than before.
Ka-ching! Boom!
The protective light shield could not block the light blade at all, and it was shattered in the blink of an eye. Then, the light blade hit the hunting vehicle and it immediately exploded. Only two people in the hunting vehicle escaped, while the others fell with the vehicle and smashed into the pile of rocks with a bang. The two who survived were cut by the blades of light into bloody pieces before they could escape.
After Guo Shi’er finished killing the people, he didn’t even look at them and immediately flew deeper into the desert. The sky was already darkening, and it would be completely dark within half an hour, so he was confident that he could escape for the time being.
Although the people on the hunting vehicle were all wiped out, they had already passed on the information that they had found Guo Shi’er, but they didn’t expect him to be so strong and be killed right after contact.
Guo Shi’er knew that he had been exposed. He did not dare to be careless and fled forward with all his might.
The hunting vehicles that had received the news from Fu letters and continued to fly towards the rocky area at high speed, just like a swarm of sharks that had smelled blood.
Just ten minutes after Guo Shi’er had left, three hunting vehicles flew over the area. Two of them chased down after Guo Shi’er and one landed, from which several people jumped down to search the fallen hunting vehicle and the body of their dead companions.
The two hunting cars in pursuit moved at their fastest speed, even going so far as to accelerate beyond the limit and risking to damage the hunting vehicles in their mad pursuit. The people on the hunting vehicle saw the traces of Guo Shi’er’s flight in the distance.
Guo Shi’er also had no choice. He flew close to the ground, a meter above the ground, and due to the extremely fast speed, set off a dragon-like dust cloud that couldn’t be hidden at all. This time, he couldn’t care less. It was about to get dark and as long as he was hidden in the darkness, he would still have a chance.
Looking back, Guo Shi’er spotted the two hunting vehicles chasing after him and was furious. “Hmph, they won’t go away! Wait and see…” He accelerated as fast as he could, raising the dust cloud higher and making it more obvious.
The people in the two hunting vehicles were extremely excited. They didn’t know how strong Guo Shi’er was, they only knew that it was a child that was desperately trying to escape and thought that the one who killed their peers was the child’s companion. They were under the impression that anyone who ran away was weak, otherwise, why would they?
So, the two hunting vehicles chased him recklessly, only a few hundred meters away from catching Guo Shi’er. One person on the hunting cart shouted excitedly, “Kid! Surrender… or you’re dead!”
Guo Shi’er did not hesitate to continue flying. In his heart, he secretly calculated the distance between him and the hunting vehicle while releasing two golden threads, ready to counterattack.
The speed of the hunting vehicles was at their limit. Guo Shi’er estimated that their speed was at least 120 kilometers per hour, while his limit was 100 kilometers per hour. His average speed would only reach about 80 kilometers per hour.
As he saw the hunting vehicle getting closer and closer, Guo Shi’er smirked and suddenly stopped flying. The two hunting vehicles whistled as they went passed him.
He abruptly activated the flying talisman, his body rising rapidly, and the golden threads turned into huge light blades, slashing at the vehicle on the left.
The people in the hunting vehicle had no idea that Guo Shi’er, who they were chasing, dared to counterattack. It was so sudden that they didn’t have the time to react and the vehicle was hit by the light blade.
Fortunately, the hunting car was not too high above the ground, only around ten meters or so, when it fell apart but all the people inside were low-level disciples, and without flying talismans, they fell to the ground and died.
After chopping down one hunting vehicle, Guo Shi’er turned around to pounce on the other one. He shouted angrily, “I let you chase me! Now it’s this old man’s turn!” It gave them a very strange feeling having a child calling himself an old man.
The Fu Ye in the hunting vehicle that was still in flight were confused as they watched the gleaming light blade appear above the other vehicle and destroy it. The same blade moved above their vehicle and slashed down.
One guy was smart enough to jump straight off the hunting car. The light blade then struck the top of the hunting car and slashed it as if cutting through tofu.
Guo Shi’er refused to let go of any of them. He controlled the light blades to stab the ones trying to escape and kill them. The change from hunter to pray terrified the Fu Ye family members, but it was too late to regret at that point. Within a few breaths, they were all cleanly killed by Guo Shi’er, leaving only one still breathing. He was the one that had jumped off from the second hunting vehicle.
