Cat: “It’s time for the afterwooord! I’m the ‘Cat,’ Cheshiiire!”

Xun: “And I’m XunYu. ‘Xun’ for shOrt. We’rE in this aftErword ’causE we weren’t in the lAst one.”

Cat: “You worked hard even in the volume itself, didn’t yaaa?”

Xun: “Yeah. It was mY first battle in a goOd while... Since volUme 3, actually.”

Cat: “Nice fighting back theeere. Though, I gotta ask... Are all of your battles gonna end with you getting burnt to a crisp?”

Xun: “It’s gottA be ’cause I’m undeAd. EveryOne and their mOm just wants to cremAte the corpse.”

Cat: “I can’t blame theeem. Just keep in mind that you certainly weren’t the only one struggling in this voluuume. Even the author was attacked by his greatest enemyyy.”

Xun: “What enEmy is thAt?”

Cat: “Page count. This volume is so large that putting it all together for printing was a real challenge.”

Xun: “Well, I guess evEryone was fIghting theIr own battles hEre.”

Cat: “Ray barely appears in it, but the battle count is probably the highest yet.”

Xun: “The author mUst have it hArd. Though, I’m glAd I got my first illUstration in a while.”

Cat: (...Doesn’t it only show your arm?)

Xun: “By the wAy, with so many pagEs, there’s barelY any parts that weren’t in thE web novel, right?”

Cat: “Yes. But to make up for it, the author is working hard on an original short story that should be released during a twitter campaign on the official twitter account around volume 15’s release. I believe it will be rather large.”

Xun: “‘Rather largE?’”

Cat: “...It’s not finished at the point of writing this afterwooord... It’s currently January, by the way.”

Xun: “JanuarY...”

Cat: “The author usually gets work requests before January breaks, so he tends to be busy during the end and beginning of the year. Anyway, it’s time for the author’s serious comments.”

The number of people infected by COVID-19 has been growing, heavy snowfall has hit parts of the country... This has been quite an eventful time.

The snow has affected even yours truly, at times making it difficult for me to get around.

However, my dog found nothing but joy in the snow, charging into it at full speed and burying his head in it. He’s a Pomeranian mix who’s supposed to be an indoor pet, but he has as much energy as any big dog. Silly as he is at times, there’s no denying that he’s cute.

Oh, another volume of the manga adaptation should’ve come out shortly before this volume of the novel. It once again includes the shenanigans of the Pomera — I mean, Lobohta — in the form of a short story, so please take a look at it.

Now, about this volume of the novel... It marks the end of the events surrounding the peace conference that began in volume 13. We see what was happening behind the scenes while Ray was fighting, and we are introduced to something very close to the core of the Infinite Dendrogram setting... The Evil and The Demise.

Their relationship with the control AIs is a relationship between “a self-destruct device installed into an incomplete product” and “those who modified the incomplete product to complete it in a different way.” They cannot possibly co-exist.

There are many such conspirators with incompatible goals and ideas, and their plots intertwine and compound each other seemingly without end.

The control AIs, The Evil, Flagman, the imperator, Caldina, and others... The world of Infinite Dendrogram has no shortage of schemers or their grand designs.

Please do pay attention to how the story of Ray and his group will go while they are caught up in this web.

The focus on Ray will have to wait until a later volume, though. The next book will shift the attention away from Altar and onto Caldina in the east, bringing the story back to the other Master-Maiden pair of Hugo and Cyco.

You’ll have their encounters with new Superiors to look forward to.

Six: “Then I suppose I can come out for a moment.”

Cat and Xun: “HUH?!”

Six: “Hello. I am ‘Six,’ Sechs Würfel. I make a brief appearance in the tenth chapter of the Crow Record manga, and just like this volume, members of I.F. will have the spotlight in the following one. Do take a look at it if you’re so inclined, and goodbye for now.” *Sounds of leaving*
