Hundred - Volume 11 - Chapter 8

Intermission 

Around 15 years ago

Near 13 years ago from the present time. 

While Maria assumes and takes the name of Serivia in an important office to assist the Pope of the Holy Church called the cardinal. 

Maria alias Serivia was visiting Khmer Kingdom with the Pope and equal cardinals for missionary work. 

The Khmer Kingdom is a land with many infidel believers who believe in a God different from Puritaria. 

It’s a place that can be called “enemy territory”. 

The security of the assembly held in the local palace was strict. 

However, there were some infidels who went through the strict security and launched an attack. 

Maria knew that because several screams were raised from the soldiers who were guarding the area around the sanctuary. 

– Infidels! The infidels came to attack! 

The voice of a report from a man. 

Shortly after that, she heard a shriek. 

Next, a lot of men in black from top to bottom trespassed the palace. 

Along with the gunshots of light machine guns, the believers were killed one after another. 

Among them are cardinals in great numbers who came along to Khmer Kingdom with Maria. 

– Please escape, Pope-sama! 

The surviving cardinals were moving to try to escape from the backdoor and addressed to the Pope. 

The believers who were gathering are starting to flee and surging like an avalanche from the exit which is different from the door where the terrorists entered. 

Maria tried to start running towards the backdoor with the Pope and other cardinals but infidels appeared from the backdoor too, their escape route was blocked. 

(Now, what will they do, I wonder?) 

Maria sighed in her heart. 

This is not the first time she’s involved in a battle with infidels. 

Hundreds of years ago there was a history of a longstanding battle with the infidels and she also entered the battlefield as a single Holy Knight. Of course, Maria never suffered a defeat. 

She has a marvelous ability——the?ability of miracles?. 

– The pawns of the devil! This is the end. 

The light machine guns were pointed to Maria and the others as well. 

Checkmate. 

As things are, the Pope will die now. 

(But, I don’t need to protect him) 

Maria judged so. 

The actual Pope moved only to increase the influence and magnification of the Holy Church and accumulated the hatred of many infidels. 

He should take the responsibility for that. 

Then again, the sounds of the light machine guns echo in the palace. 

A lot of screams raised following so. 

Among them, the ones of the Pope were also included. 

Together with the Pope, believers were killed one after another. 

But only one person was standing among the ones who wore the vestments of Puritaria. 

It’s Maria. 

Her eyes were shining in golden color. 

——who the hell is that woman? 

There was only one person who knew her identity, which is only a cardinal. 

The infidels are watching Maria with a surprised face. 

Even though they should have shot her thousands of bullets, rather than falling down, the strange woman has no wounds——. 

– Ugh, Shoo. Shoot more! Everyone shoot! 

The man, the leader of the terrorists shouted in panic. 

Following that voice, they sweep a simultaneous attack on Serivia again. 

However, the bullets were completely averted by a thin golden membrane that covers her whole body. 

Before long, the strafe of the terrorists stops. 

The bullets were used up. 

Ultimately, the terrorists couldn’t do any damage to Maria. 

One of the infidels said, looking at the eerie standing Maria who releases a golden radiance from her whole body. 

– … it’s a miracle…. No way, that’s God isn’t…. 

The words were leaked out from fear. 

– Don’t screw with me! 

*Bang*! 

The man was shot to death with a rifle, and the leader continued. 

– God is our only God. The God that those people believe in is a fake God——to say nothing about that ominous woman being a God or something like that! 

Responding to those words, Maria raises her mouth with a meaningful smile. 

Then, her pupils shone much more violently and fired a strong vortex of energy from her whole body. 

It drags into it not only the terrorists but also the believers of the fallen Holy Church. 

A few minutes later, when the vortex disappeared. 

Maria was the only one standing in the sanctuary. 

(… this became really troublesome…) 

What is she going to do from now on? 

Maria sighed among the many corpses. 

There, a voice was heard. 

It’s the voice of a fragile woman. 

– Help, me… 

Maria headed towards that voice. 

(How’s that there are persons still alive?) 

She must dispose of those who have seen her ability. 

That could be in the past, but if it’s the present world, there’s a high possibility of getting in trouble if she’s found out and she’ll be immediately be called a deviant. 

– G-god…? 

It was a girl who was still in her tender years who called out to Maria while watching her. 

… she has 5 years old, perhaps? 

Lying down and looking upward, a large woman is weighing on most of her body. 

She looks like a mother when only looking how she was having a figure similar to embracing the little girl in her arms. 

Becoming a shield, the little girl barely escaped from death. 

(God, huh…) 

Did she say so, looking at the appearance just now? 

Or else, is she seeing a hallucination or something? 

There’s a lot of bleeding from the girl’s body. 

Even if she leaves her as she is, she won’t be saved anyway. 

But, just in case.

Maria replies, laughing at herself. 

The God who has developed and raised the human beings on this planet. 

There’s no doubt about that.

The girl extended her arm to Maria. 

But Maria doesn’t grab that hand. 

Maria said, pointing to the little girl the muzzle of the gun she took out from the breast pocket. 

– God is very selfish and is only interested in herself. However, I am only interested in revenge. 

The planet of the humans is no more than a piece to reach her purpose. 

It was like that up to now, and it won’t change after this. 

——That she survived even to the end is a special service. 

——Let’s kill her with a human weapon, a humane ending. 

Maria shot the gun without hesitation and became the only survivor there, 

Then Maria was the only survivor in the terrorist incidents caused by the infidels in the Khmer Kingdom——and as the cardinal of miracles, she was selected as the Pope at a secret meeting after the late Pope. 

Maria aka Serivia became the current Pope, Serivia Notre Dame Paulo III. 

It’s the first time in hundreds of years that Maria sits on the chair of the Pope. 

(It’s a little quicker than I had estimated, but it can’t be helped, right?) 

Nonetheless, the evolution and development of mankind for hundreds of years has been tremendously quick. 

They are already trying to advance into space. 

If they begin, then it can be now. 

It encourages further development to mankind, so she can return to Planet Notre Dame till it’s time for her abdication. 

Making the earthlings surpass the Notre Damians. 

And then, she will return the favor to the earthlings who have evolved so far. 

——Harvest time is approaching. 

Thus, approximately half a year after she became Pope Serivia Notre Dame Paulo III——. 

A big event that will shake the world will happen. 

The invasion of the Savages on the globe. 

That later on would be named as the First Attack.
