Intermission
Approximately 50,000 years ago part 3
An hour had passed since Maria returned to the escape pod.
The boy finally regained consciousness.
The boy, who suddenly opened his eyes, looked at Maria, being startled.
He immediately panicked and tried to escape.
But it seemed the wounds of his body ached.
So, the moment he started running.
He ended up falling from the front with a thud.
Then??.
*Growl*, the stomach of the boy rumbled.
It was big enough that even Maria, who was quite far from him, heard it.
It was then that Maria was struck with an idea.
That idea was to roast the beast of moments ago.
She hadn’t tasted it yet, its bad smell was strong, but she stuffed it with a lot of herbs.
Without a doubt, it must taste delicious.
– Eat this.
Maria approached the boy and offered him food.
Obviously her words didn’t reach him, but apparently he understood her intention.
The boy brought his nose near, smelled the smell and sunk his teeth into the meat.
He seemed to find it very delicious.
He ate the meat heartily at an incredible speed, he left nothing but bones.
And with that, he recovered his physical strength to some extent.
He got up and raised something.
-??X?! ??X?!
She didn’t understand his language, of course.
However, for some reason or another, she understood that he was begging to have more meat.
If she gave it to him, she would lose her own ration, but there was more raw meat.
She just had to roast it again.
Above all, building a relationship of mutual trust with this boy was her top priority.
And so, Maria decided to hand out another piece of meat.
The boy ate up the meat just as before.
And after he finished eating meat??.
-??X?!??X?!
The boy desperately urged Maria for something as he pulled her arm.
And exactly like before, she understood what he wanted to say.
It looked like he was trying to take her to his group.
But accompanying him would be dangerous.
However, forming friendly relationships with the intelligent life of this planet wasn’t bad when thinking about the future.
No, it was something she absolutely had to do.
And,
(If something happens, I have this)
She touched the amulet of her chest with her hand.
And the amulet shone faintly as if responding to that.
Now that she had that mysterious power, she would be able to cut her way through if she was attacked.
*TN: Power is the furigana reading for ability.
That was why Maria accepted the boy’s guidance and decided to leave the escape pod temporarily.
They walked for a while and finally reached the settlement.
It was a very small settlement, the population was less than 20.
Maria had anxiety somewhere in her heart ever since she left the escape pod, but soon it became needless anxiety.
Naturally, at first they were cautious of her as a different person, but the boy told the people of the settlement that she rescued him from a beast and that they shared a meal.
Maria was able to open her heart to the settlers right away.
Although they were people of another planet, this was her first interaction in a long time with intelligent life forms similar to her.
This was something delightful for Maria, but at the same time, it meant despair for her.
Not just the settlers visited by Maria, but also the nearby settlements she also visited, all of them had a very low level of intelligence.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say they were closer to an ape than to a human.
Clearly, the civilization level of this planet was tens of thousands of years behind Notre Dame.
Naturally, there were no engineers who could repair the spaceship.
Maria had no choice but to conclude.
… However, in any case, the interaction with the people of this planet is indispensable to subsist from now on.
As long as she was welcomed, she certainly had to use them as much as possible.
So, Maria taught the settlers how to build an easy fire and the way to use different tools.
As a result, Maria was even more accepted by the settlers.
Eventually, this reached a point where even many adults came to Maria seeking lots of information.
The settlers gave her food as a compensation for the knowledge.
That felt as if Maria became a god.
When she understood their language, she realized that was what the settlers thought.
A life in which I’m worshipped like this isn’t bad.
Maria gradually began to think so.
Of course, she didn’t think something like wanting to stay here forever, but she would continue living like this for a while until space travelers who have come to this planet notice a rescue signal and rescue her.
Maria, who believed so, continued to live with the settlers.
And when she less expected it, 5 years had passed since that day??.
