Chapter 1803: Chapter 1803: I Won’t Let Anyone Die in My Territory
Bai Xing merely said, “I won’t let anyone die in my territory.”
Xue Ganggang could only gaze at him in shock. Although he was a Beastman, she always felt that his humanity had long surpassed his beastliness.
Saying he was actually human wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
“King, all is taken care of,” a member of the Beastmen Legion came over to report.
“Then let’s head back,” Bai Xing said indifferently.
“Understood.” Then the Beastmen Legion withdrew, and once the people of the tribe learned what had really happened, they could finally relax.
...The tribe immediately returned to its usual state of life.
The old, weak, sick, and females no longer had to hide in caves; they all came out smiling, resuming their activities.
Hei Xun was also brought back by the Beastmen Legion for Grandpa Yu to treat his injuries.
Bai Xing had intended to have just any Beastman take Xue Shi back to the tribe. He had carried her yesterday because there were only little ones around, too small to carry Xue Shi. Today, there were so many adult Beastmen around, but just as he was about to speak, before uttering a word, he remembered how delicate Xue Shi was – not only was she light, but also so soft. If she were to be held by some Beastman without care, who knew how long she would have to stay in his tribe if she were hurt.
So, he bent down and picked up Xue Shi in a horizontal carry.
Xue Ganggang was startled, but she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck at once to avoid falling off. Without clinging to his neck, she felt too insecure.
Yesterday, Xue Ganggang had fainted and had not held onto his neck, but today, because she did, Bai Xing’s steps faltered for a moment, feeling a bit strange. Nonetheless, he said nothing and continued carrying her back to the tribe.
He didn’t take her to the cave where he was staying, but instead to another cave.
Upon entering the cave, he said, “Grandpa Yu, please take a look at her as well.”
Only then did Xue Ganggang notice that Hei Xun was already in this cave. Hei Xun was still in his beast form, lying there as a kindly looking old man with white beard, dressed in beast hides, was applying herbal medicine on him, which was ground into a green paste.
This Grandpa Yu must be the doctor of the tribe.
There was also a somewhat frail-looking gazelle in the cave, which, upon seeing Bai Xing, seemed frightened and promptly transformed into a human, a young boy.
“…King,” the boy trembled slightly.
Grandpa Yu smiled at Bai Xing and said, “You gave him quite a scare last time; he really thought you were going to eat him. But everyone in the tribe knows that you protect our Beastmen from being eaten by anyone. It’s his own foolishness.”
Upon hearing this, Xue Ganggang glanced at Bai Xing.
Bai Xing just smiled back at Grandpa Yu, remaining silent.
The boy seemed somewhat indignant but dared not talk back to his grandfather. He just stole a glimpse at their king.
“Little Yu, go ahead and mash up that medicine. This female’s injury is similar to your brother Hei Xun’s, and she needs the same medicine,” Grandpa Yu instructed.
“Okay.” The young boy, also known as Little Yu, promptly picked up the mortar, stuffed some more herbs into it, and began crushing them into a mush.
Bai Xing bent down and placed Xue Shi sitting on one side.
Once Grandpa Yu had dealt with Hei Xun’s wounds, he came to examine Xue Shi’s. While checking, he smiled and said, “I had assumed that if there were a Pure Human, they would be so strong that no beast could stand against them.”
Xue Ganggang didn’t know what to say, so she remained silent. However, when those lions were whispering among themselves, she did catch a bit and knew that this world truly yearned for Pure Humans, considering them precious.
