ASKING HIM OUT?
A few days after Hestia Familia’s explosive performance in the War Game, Aiz trudged through the streets, carrying a bouquet of white flowers.
“I got the flowers Loki suggested,” she muttered to herself. “I wonder if this’ll be enough…”
Aiz was heading to the home of Hestia Familia to deliver her congratulations in person. She had personally trained Bell before the War Game, and now that training had evidently paid off.
“And there’s…something else I need to ask him as well…”
Aiz shuffled the bouquet bashfully, blushing softly. To anyone who saw her, this awkward fidgeting could have meant only one thing: She was about to ask the boy she liked out on a date! Some gasped, some cheered, and some wept, but Aiz paid them no mind.
“I need to be brave…”
Steeling her nerve, Aiz quickened her step.
“Well done in the War Game,” Aiz said. “And on getting more members, too. I’m really happy for you.”
When Bell opened his front door to see Aiz standing there, he was swept away by a wave of happiness.
“Th-thank you so much, Ms. Aiz! You really shouldn’t have!”
For the girl he admired to recognize and celebrate his achievements—it was almost more than Bell could bear. As he wrestled with his emotions, however, he noticed something.
Hm? Ms. Aiz? She’s…fidgeting…
Indeed, she was. Her cheeks reddened, and her tender lips parted and closed, almost as though she wanted to say something.
C-could she be thinking…?
Bringing him flowers and standing on his doorstep, hesitating over how to proceed—a million young boys would only assume one thing. As soon as Bell realized what was coming, poof! Steam shot from his ears. Calm down! That can’t possibly be it! his mind screamed, but his heart was having none of it. He could hear it already:
“You’re so strong now. And handsome. Would you…?”
Bell gulped. And finally, Aiz worked up the courage to let it out.
“Would you…tell me how you managed to get to Level Three so quickly?”
“I should have known…”
Bell’s voice croaked as his eyes welled with tears. There was only one thing on Aiz’s mind at any given moment, and by now, Bell knew better than to expect that to change.
