IT’S TOUGH BEING THE CAPTAIN
“She’s freed all the slaves in the market…” muttered Alfrik, standing beside Ottar.
An incredible cheer arose from the marketplace before them. Having followed the trail of their goddess into the Kaios Desert, the top-tier adventurers of Freya Familia now stood atop a rooftop in the town of Leodo, watching the aftermath of Freya’s stunning declaration. She had just bought every last slave in the city, and the grateful people were crying and shouting in joy.
Each of Freya’s children was left speechless, except for Hedin. “From reading her lips, it appears she wishes to buy the mansion as well,” he said, adjusting his spectacles. This caused the others to fall even more silent.
“…Hedin, can we even afford that?” asked Ottar.
“We can. Barely. We will have to cut back in several places, though.”
“Heh-heh-heh…We cannot have Lady Freya’s tributes wearing thin,” said Hegni.
“Quite. But shut up.”
“When we get back to Orario, we ought to head into the Dungeon some more and pick up some extra cash…But I just ordered a new set of equipment…”
“Me too.”
“Me three.”
“Me four.”
Ottar turned and looked to the rest of his juniors.
“I have a mission when we get back,” said Allen dismissively.
“Heh-heh-heh…I’m afraid fate has already spelled out a path for my blade…”
“Hegni and I have already agreed on terms for a couple of forays into the depths,” said Hedin. “We did it on goodwill, so don’t expect much in the way of cash.”
Ottar curled his lip.
“Just put the juniors to work,” said Allen. “If you say jump, they’ll fall over each other to ask how high.”
“Although by then, they’ll all be in the Dungeon…”
“…And who knows what kind of trouble they’ll get into…”
“…Plus, they could run into Loki Familia like last time…”
“…And not to mention the amount of work that’ll cause for Hörn and Heith.”
“Heh-heh-heh…The curse of a priestess and a witch’s bolt of lightning…Both will fall upon your head, Ottar.”
“Quite. Though I’m sure that’s not too much for you to handle.”
“““““““We’ll leave it to you, boar man.”””””””
Had Ottar snapped right then and there, it would have been completely understandable.
