The months that followed were long but silent.
The boundless expanse they crossed was no longer filled with vibrant stars or flowing spatial rivers. Instead, it was the vast interstice between the shard regions, abruptly turning their sight when they stepped into a corridor of twisted, half-formed voids and shredded space.
Their flying boats, led by Davis’s, glided through this realm like drifting vessels in an ocean of unseen currents. Spatial distortions frequently warped the scenery, distant starlight bent into spirals, and sometimes, reflections of their own boat shimmered across the horizon like haunting illusions.
They crossed through an illusion-attribute Mid-Level Shard Region.
Here, they could even detect many deaths of humans and magical beasts.
When illusion was involved, it was better not to enter such a region at all.
Nonetheless, they braved the path with little effort, as they had the right path marked on the True Peak Emporium’s map, provided by Jiayi Crystalveil.
Davis admitted that without the map they gave her, their journey would be much longer.
"It’s amazing, Isabella and the others traversed such locations without much help. They paved the way for the human race." Evelynn uttered with pride.
"Indeed. For illusions, Myria and I can do something about it. Fairy Xiu Juili can also survive here better than most supreme geniuses, but for Isabella and the others to have crossed this region, I don’t know whether to say that if they’re brave or careless."
Davis chuckled.
He held her on the deck, but they didn’t get too comfortable.
Evelynn and Myria decided that they had had their fill in the past decade, so it was now time for Isabella and the others.
"Why haven’t you taken Tia yet? Are you two still waiting for the right time?" She couldn’t help but ask as she caressed his cheek while placing a soft kiss on the other cheek.
Davis’s expression went wry, "Well, I’m down for it anytime, but Tia seems to strangely avoid me when I try to go for it. Since she’s my little aunt, I find it difficult to be a bit forceful..."
Evelynn narrowed her eyes, "Is she having second thoughts? But that can’t be-"
"No, no. She probably knows a lot and wants to avoid some dangers. She is constantly divining for dangers, after all."
"What danger is ther-" Evelynn blinked before she remembered that Tia had always shown more knowledge than they knew or studied.
"I just can’t guess what it is exactly. If I were to make some speculation, I guess she feels... well, leave it. I’ll talk to her about it after I meet Isabella and the others."
"No, you should talk to her right now since you wouldn’t have any time after meeting with them."
"Alright..." Davis nodded.
He didn’t leave but continued to discuss plenty of matters.
After some time, he stood up and walked towards the back of the flying boat. It was a fairly large flying boat that could be considered a ship.
Above the stairs, over the side of the railings, Tia stood there, her blonde hair swaying in the air as she looked at the moving scenery. Considering they were moving at a slow pace and watching out for dangers and hostiles, the environment was indeed a sight to see. He was enjoying the scenery with Evelynn all this time, after all.
Meanwhile, Myria and Nadia were with the kids on another flying boat.
Since the journey took a lot of time, they did change flying boats once in a while. He even took the chance to appear on the Heavenshade’s flying boat to flirt with Fairy Xiu Juili, but after that incident, she was extremely shy and reserved.
"Big brother, you’re here~ Did you enjoy the scenery with big sister?"
"I did."
Davis walked towards her and stood by her side while Tia giggled, simply looking happy. However, she took a light step back and placed her arms on the railing, looking out at the landscape.
"Now it’s my turn~ Stay with me." She rested her head on the palm of her hand. Her head swayed as she hummed in a sweet tone.
Davis smiled as he saw she was in a good mood. He reached out his hand to touch her butt, his palm groping her lightly. "I will."
Tia shivered before she turned to look at him, a sly smile spreading across her lips, "Naughty big brother, are you planning for another kind of stay?"
"Yes, shall we stop here somewhere?"
Davis looked around as though looking for a place to stop. Tia’s eyes turned full of panic before she quickly hid it.
"Ah, no, no. We don’t have time to stop. We’re already late because of the time we spent in that Space-Attributed High-Level Shard Region. We can’t afford to wait anymore."
"I can’t afford to wait anymore either."
Davis took a step forward, closing the distance. Tia became frozen. His hand grabbed her chin and inclined her head above as though moving into a position where he was going to make a passionate kiss.
Tia’s heart shook. She would kiss him anytime, but it seemed like it was going to advance into something else, making her panic.
Her purple eyes trembled heavily, catching Davis’s attention.
"Why are you so hesitant when you’re this happy? I don’t understand."
Unable to understand Tia’s thoughts, he gave up and used Heart Intent to check her emotions, only to learn she was excited and happy about his actions, but wouldn’t act on it herself as she held back. Furthermore, she was panicking as though another matter held her back. She was giving him mixed signals, making him unable to act.
Davis frowned, "Is this about Ivy Aries and Jade Aurora?"
Tia blinked innocently, "Partly but truly... we don’t have time. I divined that elder sister Isabella would be in danger."
"Isn’t that something that would happen in two years? We’ll be there by that time."
"No, we’re Divergents. We’ll greatly change the course of the world just by being near an influential event that is capable of making the world move greatly. By being here, we’re already making many changes. I suspect the secret realm also won’t last long."
"That’s expected since my luck is like that. But Tia, you keep giving excuses. I know that you know that I know that you’re avoiding me, and you most likely don’t want to be confronted about it, but I am at my wits’ end, and your elder sisters are worried about you. Before we left, even your parents came to see me and told me to take extra care of you since you were mostly secluded in the past decade."
"..." Tia looked away, her gaze guilty.
She stepped away from him, causing Davis to let go.
Tia raised her hand, gazing at his eyes. She didn’t avoid gazes anymore, but she looked so determined.
"It is as you said, big brother. I want to wait for Ivy Aries and Jade Aurora since we... promised. It was a promise that was never made and long forgotten, but it is extremely important to me. But still, the moment you accepted me, I was not thinking of them. I’m just that selfish- wanting you, wanting to hold our children’s hands as they laugh. However, if we dual cultivate, my divination results back then tell me that it is nothing of concern..."
"..." Davis was stunned by this sudden confession. But before he could reply to the strangeness of her words, she continued.
Tia turned to look away, "But... when I divined again, this time on my primal yin essence, and the result came out to be disastrous. It was the same until when I divined two years ago, after your final seclusion, that if we dual cultivated, I received an alarming result that said it would turn into a ruinous calamity..."
"...!"
Abruptly, karmic burden began falling on Davis, making him realize that Tia wasn’t kidding, and this information wasn’t supposed to be revealed to him.
Tia had her eyes closed. Blood leaked out of her lips lightly, but she didn’t seem shaken at all. She stood firmly and finally opened her eyes after a few seconds.
