Khan rushed through the ship, failing to capture any of its features. The situation had to be beyond serious for Zalpa to behave like that, and the foreign happiness in his mind couldn't quell his anxiety.

The Niqols' ship was small. Khan only had to cross one door to enter a lab-like room that reminded him of what Liiza had turned his cargo area into.

Metal cauldrons stood in different spots on the floor, arrays of flasks and other containers hung from the walls, and red symbols littered every surface, but Khan only focused on Liiza. He found her sitting beside a few glowing runes, busy wiping her hands with a rag.

"What happened?" Khan immediately asked, noticing Liiza's timid blush but still unable to calm down.

"Come here first," Liiza smiled, stretching her arms toward Khan.

Everything looked fine. Khan couldn't sense anything wrong, either, so he complied. That gesture usually ended up with Khan between Liiza's legs, but the opposite happened now. Liiza waited for Khan to sit down before sitting sideways on his lap and resting her head on his shoulder.

Khan's bright eyes were fixed on Liiza, but she feigned ignorance, looking at his chest while her black fingernails tried to scratch it. She needed time to sort out her thoughts but soon gave up on the matter altogether, deciding to come clean.

"[My period should have come during our last stop at Dark Rock Colony]," Liiza revealed, instinctively switching to her language. "[I'm two weeks late. Two and a half]."

There was a time when Khan had been clueless about those topics, but his long relationship with Monica had taught him much. He knew what Liiza meant, and his eyes widened while his lips parted without releasing a single sound.

"[You know how my body acts when I'm with you]," Liiza continued, snuggling closer. "[I wasn't sure it was actually that, and we aren't exactly normal]."

Khan couldn't help but wrap his arms around Liiza. His eyes' light still shone on her, but he didn't dare to speak until she moved past that foreplay.

"[I'm me]," Liiza stated, "[And you are you. Honestly, I would have struggled to find a way to confirm it on my own. That's why I asked Zalpa's help]."

Liiza fell silent, growing coyer but also happier. Her blush became more evident as she finally peeked up, meeting Khan's gaze to reveal the news. "[I'm pregnant]."

The news hit like a hammer. Khan became even less able to speak. His eyes widened even more while falling toward Liiza's waist. One of his arms also slid down, but the sight of his scarred hand made him hesitate.

"[It's too early to feel anything]," Liiza giggled, taking Khan's hand and placing it on her waist. "[I'm not getting fatter any time soon]."

Khan's hesitation vanished while Liiza kept his hand on her. He rubbed her waist from above her hoodie, almost searching for something. Khan couldn't find what he was looking for, so his gesture turned into a loving caress.

Liiza's gaze had also fallen toward that spot, but she lifted it when the blue light moved to her head again. A coy smile broadened on her face when she met Khan's eyes, and her heart burst with happiness at the sight of his disbelief.

"[Are we having a baby]?" Khan asked, finally speaking.

Liiza slowly nodded, but a chuckle escaped her mouth when Khan's hands suddenly rose to her face, separating it from his shoulder to hold it as if it were the most precious item in the world. She definitely was for Khan.

"[I know so many languages]," Khan whispered, placing his forehead on Liiza's, "[But I can't find words to describe how much I love you]."

"[Didn't I say that ten years ago]?" Liiza wondered. "[Did you steal it from me]?"

"[My brain is kind of slow now]," Khan claimed. "[If you used it again, I wouldn't have known what to say]."

Liiza laughed, her hands also rising to hold Khan's face. Her eyes had long since closed, and the same went for Khan's. The time for kisses and more would come, but the two only wanted to feel each other now.

It was truly unbelievable. Kids had always been a tricky topic with Khan due to his mutations, and failing to have them with Monica had been a devastating blow, which Garret's revelations didn't hesitate to worsen.

Yet, there Khan was, holding the first woman in his life that had ever made him consider that topic. He still recalled Liiza asking him about it ten years ago. The two simply had to wait what had felt like an eternity to make it real.

The disbelief didn't end there, either. Khan struggled to describe how easy everything had been. He had felt alone for years until Liiza returned and fixed that with a snap of her fingers. Khan had given up on building a family until Liiza arrived and made that a reality in a matter of months.

That series of positive events could almost make a man as paranoid as Khan superstitious, but he was too happy to care. Even if that joy were part of some intricate ploy from the universe, he would welcome it with open arms. Khan would pay any price that single, silent moment demanded and destroy into nothingness anything that tried to take it away.

Nevertheless, reality wasn't so simple, and all the happiness in the world couldn't make Khan forget about it. Actually, that impossibly intense and profound feeling only sent his brain into overdrive. After all, he now had something else to worry about.

"[Don't even start]," Liiza scolded, understanding Khan from his changing warmth and mental connection. "[We'll stick to the plan. Zalpa is all the help we need for now, and she has agreed to travel with us]."

Khan had obviously started to worry about his child and Liiza's state. Garret had warned him about the problems his genes could create, and that cumbersome ship floating through space wasn't the best place to deal with them.

"[But]," Khan muttered, but Liiza didn't give him the chance to talk.

"[What would you have me do]?" Liiza teased, letting go of Khan's face and escaping his hug, turning to lean against his torso. "[Lock me in a cage in Coravis with your scientists pointing machines at me all day]?"

Khan diverted his gaze, not forgetting to hug Liiza from behind. She had come very close to what he had in mind, but that clearly wasn't an option.

"[You'd also have plenty of meals]," Khan pointed out. "[You'd see sunlight that doesn't turn an entire planet upside down. We could also stop worrying about killing everyone around us whenever we have sex]."

"[Didn't you once say that you loved my freedom]?" Liiza tried to recall. "[Or was it just to get between my legs]?"

"[I had just finished getting between your legs at that time]," Khan declared, "[After you revealed you had condoms with you for weeks because you knew you would have soon failed to resist that virtuous human]."

"[It was days]," Liiza corrected, laughing, "[And I was starting to worry it would have exploded at that pace. Besides, I had to reward you for preventing a genocide]."

Khan chuckled, holding Liiza tightly. She threw her head back, turning it to immerse it in Khan's neck.

"[Khan]," Liiza called, her tone more somber. "[I want to raise our kids according to the Niqols' ways]."

"[Okay]," Khan immediately agreed, making Liiza lift her head to look at him.

"[The Niqols' ways are why we are together]," Khan softly said, shrugging his shoulders. "[We'll have to make compromises when it comes to technology, but they aren't learning about mana from humans]."

Liiza had to suppress the urge to jump at Khan, putting the entire ship at risk. As much as that honesty was assaulting her self-restraint, she knew Khan had yet to realize the issue's core, and his widening eyes eventually marked that event.

"[If they are boys]," Khan added, slightly panicking. "[We are raising girls like the most spoiled and sheltered human Princesses in existence]."

"[You are just too cute]," Liiza smiled, shaking her head. "[Did you forget why I even considered a human for a boyfriend]?"

Khan opened his mouth but closed it, diverting his gaze and placing his head on Liiza's shoulder. She caressed it, her cold fingers diving into his hair. Khan could act grumpy, but Liiza knew he had already admitted defeat.

"[I guess I can kill every man in the universe]," Khan muttered, pretending to ignore the happy kiss that landed on his cheek.
