I ran towards Katherine, finding her flying away towards her usual spot, a small garden of flowers where she liked sitting and sleeping most of the time. It was right next to the spring, she liked drinking that water a lot, she often said it had the same properties as the Spiritual Water of Avalon.
"Katherine? Please wait a bit before you go take a nap…"
"Hm? Oh, Master? Yes? Do you need something? I am quite tired right now, but I could do about anything if you need it very badly…"
"Ah no, nothing like that. Please go rest when you need to, I just wanted to talk about something else…"
"Yes? Something else?"
She cutely tilted her head, her big green colored eyes shining brightly.
Katherine was so adorable to look at! Like a living and breathing doll.
I can't believe we get to see her every day, she is truly a beautiful spiritual being of myth and legends.
And we were very lucky to have her for a whole month here… Very lucky.
She has helped us so much, I can't imagine a life without her in my garden now…
"I-It was… Um, I wanted to talk about when you're leaving to Avalon again?"
"Oh right… I had completely forgotten! But… Hm, about two and a half days I think."
"S-So little?!"
"Eh? Well, yes, that's what the contract said… Master? Are you upset?"
"I don't want you to leave…"
"Huh? R-Really?"
"Yeah, do you want to leave? I mean… You've got everything here, and you made friends already… Don't you like the human world a lot? A-And I kind of like you being here… I already kind of love you like a daughter…"
"I-I never… I never thought you would grow so attached so quickly to me… It is embarrassing…"
She blushed a bit, I guess it was a bit embarrassing.
"I do love this place as well… The snacks are good as well! And the people is nice overall. There were some hard times, like when I had to fight myself, even though I wasn't exactly summoned for that… And I love seeing this little Domain grow every day, I love tending these plants and everything… But…"
"But?"
"This is really not something I can… Well, I don't have much power over this decision."
"Why?"
"You see, the contract you purchased from your Domain Shop that you used to summon me was created by the Authority of the Ruler of Avalon, the Fairy King Oberon."
"Really? But it was born from my Domain?"
"Indeed, but your Domain is a gateway to other Realms, Rulers from other Realms can decide if they can help your Domain or not, if it benefits them."
"I-Is that so… I had no idea."
"Well it's not something that really matters much, but yes, some of your abilities and powers are "gifts" sometimes. The Domain Shop and its contents are usually such things. And other things they are just made by your Domain and nobody else helps."
"Hmm… I-I see… So that means I cannot… keep you around?"
She sighed, as she approached me and hugged my face.
"I'm very sorry… I also see you as family, master! I've never had this much fun before back home… And honestly, I've gotten along much better with people here than in my hometown. Most fairies there were… kind of childish, but you were all just so nice."
"Katherine… Thanks for saying that… I guess I'll simply have to find another way to keep you here then."
"A-another way?"
Suddenly, Gardenia appeared by my side.
"Hm, if the contract was made by that King of Fairies and you're bound to return, then we can attempt to either persuade him to change the contract or overwrite its effects with a new one."
"Gardenia! You're helping?"
"I told you not to call me by my name like that!"
As she groaned grumpily, she crossed her arms made of vines, branches and flowers.
"I guess I will help a little… Because I like Katherine a bit, she's one of the few that understands me around here."
"Heheh, you think so Gardenia? I'm flattered…! I also really like being your friend… I've never talked with a Spirit from another World, so it has been a whole new experience for me."
"Hmm…"
Gardenia looked at Katherine trying to act cold, but she would probably also miss her.
"So how do we do this, Gardenia?" I asked her. "Do we have to create a new contract?"
"I would say so, but I don't know if that'll work, to replace a contract made by such a being as King Oberon… He's really strong right? If he's the Ruler of a whole Realm, he's probably in equal power to beings such as Lady Verdant, if not stronger I would say." Gardenia explained.
"He is very powerful indeed," nodded Katherine. "It could be said that he is a God at this point, and among the strongest in the world… But his power is limited to the Realm he's bound to. Although Avalon has influenced Earth since its conception, he still cannot exert the same power in this world than he can in our Realm."
"I see…" I nodded while rubbing my chin. "Maybe we can use that to our advantage? If he's not as strong here, then perhaps we can really replace the contract…?"
"The contract is still bound to him within Avalon, so no, that would still be really hard," said Gardenia. "But… Um, well… You could try persuasion!"
"I don't really like the sound of that…" I sighed.
Suddenly, she smiled viciously.
"Hehe, why not? He's head over heels for you somehow! I bet if you ask him PERSONALLY he'll agree instantly!" She laughed. "Making a contract has too many dangers at your level, even more when trying to replace the contract of someone so much stronger than you… And Katherine has a risk of being damaged with a backlash if it goes wrong, get it?"
"Uhhhh…" I muttered. "D-Do I really…?"
As I groaned, I saw Khaterine's puppy-like eyes.
"I want to stay…"
Ah, I really can't say "no" now.
Dammit!
"F-Fine! I'll go to Avalon and ask him personally! Ugh…"
I guess we're taking a little trip to another Realm…
It can't be worse than the Fey Wilds right?
