“What do i do?”
Qinghan was befuddled. Didn’t his ancestor previously say it was relatively easy to pass this trial? Didn’t that mean he had relied on his own powers to break through?
When Qinghan had heard this, he had inwardly smiled, thinking it would be easy to pass the Puppet Trial.
On the surface, he only had the cultivation level of the Prince-Realm. Adding on the power of his beast, he would at most reach the peak of the Realm of the Prince.
However, with the level he is at now, how could he force his way through a sea of crocodile-like beasts.
The only way he could pass this level was to cultivate to the Realm of the Emperor.
What Qinghan had not foreseen was that his own physical and defensive capabilities were not up to par.
If he was any other Prince-Realm cultivator, he could completely rely on his superior martial arts and easily sweep by this whole trial.
In addition, is his defense was any stronger, these crocodile-like beasts could not even harm him one bit.
The only thing is, how could he have known that relying on the simple “Seven Techniques of Ye Huang” and the not yet completed “Mysterious Trace Steps” would have led to his own downfall.
Furthermore, Ye Ruoshi had assumed that with Qinghan being a genius, the clan members would have bestowed upon him every high-level martial arts and techniques.
At this moment, with his incapabilities in regards to combat prowess, his only way of attacking would be the “Seven techniques of Ye Huang”. Now when he faces the densely packed beasts, he can only stare at them with dry eyes.
He felt great regret when he had not asked Ye Qingniu to teach him some martial arts. He also regretted rejecting Ye Qingwu’s offer to teach him various techniques during the Prefecture War.
Given that he had learnt an ultimate technique where nobody could stand in his way, it was obvious that he would be too lazy to learn any new techniques. Also, he was “warming up” to Qingcheng at the time. They were extremely intimate with each other, how would he be able to find the time to learn new things.
Without any choice, QInghan could only slowly back off.
He wasn’t a dumb person. He knew his own limits. Even though he had a mysterious ring that could quickly heal his wounds, he wouldn’t be able to take on this many beasts.
QInghan was afraid that if he was repeatedly assaulted by the crocodile-like beasts, the bronze ring would not enable him to regenerate fast enough, resulting in him bleeding to death.
Adding to the fact that there were so many of them, if he wasn’t careful and one of his limbs were to break off, the bronze ring would not be able to save him then.
He had backed off many hundreds of metres until he was safely away from the horde and could not see the channel exit anymore. Breathing in a breath of air, he sat on the ground.
“What do I do?”
Qinghan once again started scratching his head. He had eaten the the seven fruits so he did not feel hungry or thirsty. If he didn’t go towards the horde he would be safe as he could rely on his own abilities and the bronze ring.
Qinghan started to settle down and carefully think.
He knew his cultivation level was already very high, yet had weak martial arts which could only unlock around 50% of his potential. Adding to that, if he learnt stronger techniques, he could unleash 100% of his power, and possibly even 200%.
On the other hand, if he wanted to strengthen his defense, he would need to learn how to spread his Qi field or else it would have no effect. Also, how far would solely relying on his Qi field get him? Thinking back to the mountains of beasts, he trembled with fear. Merely relying on his Qi field would not get him anywhere as he would not have the required attack power to push through.
After reflecting for awhile, other than establishing his Qi field and enhancing his attack power, he could not think of any other solutions. Having a Qi field would allow him to momentarily defend attacks from all sides but he would need martial arts techniques to allow him to buffer the crocodile-like beasts’ attacks. Otherwise under continuous assault, his defenses would fall.
He would need to cycle between attacking and defending to safely pass through the monsters and into the security of the channel exit.
He knew the fundamentals of cultivating his Qi field.
A Qi field is essentially a stronger and solidified version of Battle Qi. When projected outside the body, it could help defend against strong attacks.
As a Qi field is projecting Battle Qi outside the body, it becomes a Qi shield, except it’s much bigger and envelops the whole body. In addition, your defense capabilities increase a whole level, as well as being able to distort your opponent’s attacks.
The ideology behind this is simple, but being able to utilise it is extremely difficult. Adding to the fact that when in the early stages of learning how to use the Qi field, it would be very unstable, often collapsing.
As for his martial arts prowess, Qinghan only had the “Seven Techniques of Ye Huang” meaning he more or less knew nothing so he could not help but start to practice in these techniques.
It is said that the Ye Family’s ancestor had used the “Seven Techniques of Ye Huang” to open the heavens and split the earth. However, it is not known whether or not if preceding Ye family members’ contemplating levels are too low or if these techniques were just a sham.
This is because after Ye Huang himself, no one had been able to replicate the same results. However, things passed down from ancestors could not be forgotten so the first techniques all his descendants learnt were all his.
In the coming few days, Qinghan would helplessly train in the “Seven Techniques of Ye Huang” while simultaneously cultivating his Qi field, hoping that he would eventually have a breakthrough allowing him to push through the beasts to reach the channel exit. Otherwise, he was afraid that he would tire himself to death in this yellow desert.
