This series has made it to nine volumes. It’s on the verge of double digits! Seeing the whole series on the shelf at bookstores is a proud moment. It has a really powerful presence lined up like that.

Also! The anime will begin airing in October 2021!

Remotely, from Kyushu, I took part in the screenplay meetings, sketch work, post-sync, dubbing, and all the stages of the anime production.

The screenplays were taken from the original light novels and Ikeno’s manga. They were then worked into storyboards, and the animation created from those was voiced by all the actors, and then the music and sound effects were added. I was able to participate in every stage of the anime’s creation.

The images weren’t complete at the time, but when I saw my story become a walking, talking anime at the dubbing stage, I forgot that I was working as a member of the production staff and felt utterly stunned by what our work had become.

Apparently, it’s rare for an original author to be so deeply involved, but I wanted to participate in the anime’s creation as a production staff member rather than as a director. All the staff members got along well and shared opinions openly, maybe because we all wanted to make an interesting anime.

I greatly respect Director Hoshino and the rest of the production team.

When the decision was made to turn Banished from the Hero’s Party into an anime, my editor warned me that an anime was a happy thing, but also a ton of work. Still, I wound up a very happy author.

The other media adaptations are proceeding smoothly as well!

Volume 7 of the manga is on sale now! It depicts the climax from the second volume of the light novel series!

And the PC game’s development is moving along, too. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
