Afterword

Hello again, it’s me, Miya Kazuki.

Thank you for reading Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 1 Volume 3. With this, Part 1 comes to a close.

Myne’s life was saved thanks to Freida and the guildmaster, but it wouldn’t last forever. She chose to live with her family and try as hard as she could to make a book before her death. Lutz opened up to his mother and showed her how serious he was about becoming an apprentice merchant.

When Myne went to the temple to go through her baptism festival, she discovered a book room — the closest thing to a library she had seen in this world and more or less what she had been longing for this entire time. The book room in the temple was essentially a chained library where the books were protected by sturdy metal chains. In an age where books were as rare as they were expensive, libraries protected them from theft by chaining them. Books even more rare were placed in boxes that needed keys from three separate people used together in unison to open.

Myne wanted to spend the rest of her remaining life to read. She charged forward to make her dreams come true and through a high donation, Crushing the High Bishop, and firm negotiation, she successfully became a blue shrine maiden in the temple.

Myne’s adventure continues in Part 2: Apprentice Shrine Maiden. Please look forward to it.

In any case, as I imagine anyone holding this book knows, volume three ended up quite large. Reason being, I fought hard to get all of the short stories from outside of Myne’s perspective into this volume. They’re heavily involved with what happens in Part 2, so they couldn’t be cut, and we couldn’t release a volume four of just those short stories, so I did my best to get them into this book together.

In fact, everyone involved with this volume worked hard to get a book with this many pages out. Thank you, everyone at TO Books. Truly.

Also, unlike the prior volumes, the cover art for this volume was done at my request. Thank you You Shina for drawing an illustration of Myne happy with her family to close off Part 1.

As one last statement, I would like to offer my utmost gratitude to everyone who read this book. May we meet again in Part 2 Volume 1.
