Chapter 1883: A Friend Of The Dragons
Toad Clan Territory.
Necromancers hideout.
In a secret room, three figures could be seen seated. Of the three figures, one of them was clearly different from the other two. Not only was this figure smaller, but the figure also gave one the feeling that it was not human. This was because it was from the Gnome race, and he was currently scolding the duo seated before him.
“How are you not able to find this person even after so long?” He did not hide his dissatisfaction with the duo in front of him.
Of the duo standing in front of the Gnome, the man who was dressed in black answered, “This person is quite slippery. I was only able to track them for a few hours after we sensed their presence, since then, it is almost like the person disappeared from the Inner Court. We have scouts stationed all around, so there is no way anyone could leave the Inner Court… unless…”
“Unless?” The Gnome asked in annoyance when the man replying to him paused.
“They are Peak Sovereign or even a Half God Plane expert. That would explain why we are unable to catch a trace of him.”
Hearing this man’s explanation, the Gnome thought about it and it was also within his calculations. Since they have been unable to locate this mysterious person, the thought of the person being very powerful came to mind. Although he felt like this was the case, he also wanted to at least be certain the person is gone. From what he knew, the mysterious person was injured, that was the only way this man was able to sense his blood essence in the first place. Knowing this person is able to escape even with whatever injury they sustained made him feel a tad disappointed at the inability of these Necromancers.
They were still having the conversation when another man rushed into the room.
“We have a problem.”
The man’s sudden appearance drew the attention of the trio who were having a discussion.
“What happened?” The Gnome asked, his face showing irritation. He was still a little upset over the matter of the mysterious person that escaped them.
“Some Dragons are coming this way…” The man told them of the Dragon sightings in the Toad Clan Territory. When they first discovered the group of Dragons, they did not attach too much importance to it, after all, this was the Inner Court of the Magical Beast’s Forest, so it was normal to see a group of Dragons, no matter how rare they were. However, following the path of the Dragons, they realized that they were undoubtedly heading towards their hideout.
“They should not know of our presence here. Maybe they are passing through.” One of the men said doubtfully. Yes, the Dragons were coming in their direction, but it could also be because they needed to pass through this area to get to wherever they were headed.
“Do you think they noticed us?” The Gnome asked, his expression serious. The mission in the Magical Beast’s Forest is of great importance to their invasion of the human world, so he did not want anything to cause it to fail.
“We have been very careful while moving around, it’s highly unlikely they discovered us. Even if they saw one or two of us, it’s normal for Sovereigns to explore the Magical Beast’s Forest. And although we’re not allowed to venture into the Inner Court, thousands of people come in here yearly, so they would not be able to link it to us.” The man in black robes did not think they had been discovered, rather, he just felt these were baseless worries.
The Gnome looked at him and nodded, “I feel the same, but it won’t do us any harm if we are prepared.” Saying this, he turned to the man who brought the news of the Dragons, “How many, and how strong?”
The man told them what he knew before excusing himself after he was told to tell everyone to prepare to evacuate. If the Dragons were truly coming for them, as long as they were ready, they would at least be able to escape. With the exception of the Gnome, they only had three Peak Sovereigns, and one of them is nowhere close at the moment.
The Gnome told the man dressed in black to contact the Peak Sovereign that was not here and tell him to rush back to the hideout.
….
Some kilometers away from the Necromancer’s hideout.
Now that they were close to it, Grey could properly feel the presence of the Necromancers. The biggest issue with being able to sense the presence of Necromancers or Gnomes is that he does not have any idea how many or how strong they are, only getting a feeling of where they were gathered. What’s more is that if these Necromancers decide to split up right now, he will be able to sense some of them, but only those weaker than him. When they are gathered, he could at least sense the presence of those powerful ones. And at the moment, he was getting the vague feeling of a powerful existence there.
One of the Dragons with him was the one sent out to confirm Grey’s words. This Dragon was one of the Peak Sovereigns in the party. Looking at it, Grey asked,
“You’re certain there are just four Peak Sovereigns on their side?”
The Dragon took a look at Grey, and although it did not want to answer, it knew that it had to obey Sir Astarot, so he nodded its large head, saying, “Other than those four, the rest can not bother us.”
The Dragon’s voice was loud and a bit grating, so Grey did not try to ask it to explain further. He knew these Dragons would not throw their lives away for no reason, since they were sending out such a force, they were certain it would be enough. If it’s not enough, he was confident he could escape with his life. Of course, being the sole survivor would make him look suspicious to the Dragons, but he would not really care if it got to that. At least he did his best to warn them, the rest was up to the Dragons. He did not even want to come here with them in the first place. With the thought of any unforeseen event happening, he decided it was best if he was prepared for the fight.
‘Five fusion orbs is the most I can create in such a short time.’ He said to himself, but he did not worry. This was an attack that could threaten Peak Sovereigns, so even though all he could make is five at the moment, he was sure that it would be more than enough to help them at the crucial moment. There was also his biggest advantage over Necromancers, the ability to cut their link from their Puppets. If he plotted carefully, he was certain that he would be able to deal with any changes.
“Wait here, I’ll be back in thirty minutes.”
Grey left after dropping this statement. He did not want to create the fusion orbs in the presence of these Dragons. He did not want others to know that he could prepare such an attack beforehand. The reason he does not do this too often is because after a period of time, the fusion orb would dissipate.
The Dragons were a bit displeased with him suddenly leaving when they were already close to their destination, but with no other choice, they could only watch him leave while grumbling.
Grey found a cave not too far from where the Dragons were waiting and immediately got to work. At the moment, he was confident he could make four colored fusion orbs. Keeping a five colored orb stable is still too difficult for him to achieve at the moment, but a four colored orb is not above his ability.
Thirty minutes later, he returned to the Dragons, ready to attack.
When he returned, the Dragon he questioned before looked at him and said, “They have sensed our presence and seem to be preparing.”
“Oh, didn’t you notice the scout two hours ago?” Grey did not show any signs of surprise, asking the Dragon a question instead.
The Dragon nodded, “I did sense them, I just didn’t think they would assume we were coming to attack them.”
“It’s only normal for them to assume we are coming for them. You have to remember that they are currently being hunted down by other humans, and they are aware that the Dragon Clan and every other Beast Clan is allying with humans to fight against their masters.” Grey took off, leading the group to where the Gnome hideout was located.
The Gnome hideout.
The secret room.
The trio were still the only ones present here, after giving out the order for the others to prepare, they started planning for countermeasures and also what to do next.
The man in black suddenly jolted, attracting the other’s attention.
“What happened?” The Gnome asked.
“Looks like our mystery person is a friend of the Dragons.” He replied with a forced smile.
