Alex couldn't help but frown at the proposal.
The man was asking him to get voluntarily taken away somewhere to get imprisoned. There was no guarantee that they had any way to find the truth, and worst of all, Alex was still responsible for part of the tragedy that had befallen the Hell Warrior sect.
He had killed enough people there that these people would have every right to punish him for it. And the fear that the punishment was more imprisonment did not make it any easier to come to a decision.
However, this was also in part what he had been wanting for a long time.
Alex had always wanted to go to the Endless Night sect, to meet with the people that knew more about how the Hell Emperor had left this world. He couldn't go there as a disciple, and he was rejected from going there as a guest elder.
Now, he had a chance to go there as a prisoner.
It wasn't ideal in any way, but it was a way.
"Alright," Alex accepted, surprising himself at wanting to be imprisoned. "I will go."
The short man who had been waiting for Alex's answer was surprised. It appeared he hadn't thought Alex would agree at all.
"Okay…" the man said slowly and turned to the other members of his sect. After a short nod, he faced Alex again. "Let us go then."
The man brought out a thick metallic rope and used it to start tying Alex up. The rope was surprisingly strong, but it couldn't hold Alex if he wanted to escape.
"The rope isn't strong enough to bind you, but that is not its purpose," the man said. "You will leave this rope upon you until we reach the sect. Should the rope come off, we will consider you hostile and attack you. Is that understood?"
Alex nodded.
"Whisker, time to leave."
Alex spoke the word to the emptiness away from the sect, making everyone confused as to who he was talking about. A moment later, Whisker arrived and disappeared into his Beast Space.
Everyone was left stunned at what had just happened.
"Where… where did that mouse come from?" one of the other members of the Endless Night sect asked. "Where did it go?"
Alex looked toward the men, seeing their confused look. "You have never seen a bonded beast before, have you?" he asked.
"Bonded beast?" the short man asked, a look of surprise flashing through his face. "I've read about it in the old records. It says there was a time when beasts could be tamed by humans. Is that what you're talking about?"
"Yes," Alex said. "Anyway, I wanted to ask something before we left. Will I get to meet with… uhh… the Grand Elder was it? The one who was alive during the time of the Hell Emperor."
The short man narrowed his eyes. "I cannot guarantee anything. Depending on your crime, though, someone bigger than me will get involved."
Alex didn't say anything else. He let the men take him.
They walked away from the crowd of people, going to the city first. As Alex was escorted, still in his blood armor, people gasped and watched along the way, each one fearful of his presence.
He was very famous at the moment, but because he only showed up with his blood armor in front of the sect, none of the city folks had seen him at all.
