Afterword

This book is a collection of short stories mostly published in the Monthly Comptique Extra Edition.

"2nd Character" is the story of AI buster (the previous novel), but told from Hokuto's perspective and honing in on Haruka Mizuhara, the person behind the avatar.

"Wotan's Spear" is technically the sequel to the first book, taking place during the same time period as stories one through four of .hack//Sign, the anime. Please read the manga, Legend of Twilight, volume 3 with this story.

"Kamui" takes place almost four years after the Twilight Incident, and Kamui is now commander of the Cobalt Knights. It was her turn to have an unnerving encounter with an AI.

"Rumor" was fairly easy to write. Rena, the little gir1, had a complex personality, but I hope I was able to capture her properly. Rumor is a web poet and Vagrant AI who enjoys spreading rumors for his enjoyment.

In "Firefly," I tell the story of when Hotaru and Sanjuro first met.

Thus concludes my .hack assignment. I'd like to thank Tamura-sama, the Comptique editor and Kou Nanbasama, the novel editor. Also, I look forward to working with Uchiyama-sama of Bandai and Matsuyama-sama of CyberConnect2 on the next project. Finally. I really appreciate the time I was able to work with Idumi-san no matter how brief it was.
