Afterword
Hello, everyone. This is Dachima Inaka.
Thanks to your passionate support, the fourth volume is now on sale. I cannot thank you enough.
As a result, Mom is still going strong. She’s on the cover of Dragon Magazine’s Thirtieth Anniversary issue (on sale the same day as this volume) and is the subject of a special feature article inside! And that’s not all—there’s a veritable parade of wonderful things happening, and I am so humbled by each and every one.
On the other hand, as the volume number goes up, I’ve become painfully aware of how hard writing mom light novels is.
My editor, K, compared it to “venturing forth into a field of virgin snow.” We know there’s a new land yet to be explored, but the path forward is unclear, and it’s very hard to walk through it.
I know only too well what it feels like to be on a crazy adventure, one with a high chance of getting stranded somewhere.
But having started down this path, I must keep moving forward. Fueled by your support, once more I embark to realms unknown. As long as your love continues unabated, I will do so.
I’d like to dedicate this space to those involved with the book.
Iida Pochi., my editor, K, everyone involved with publication and sales, everyone who cosplayed as Mamako. Thank you all.
And to Meicha, who is doing the manga on the Young Ace Up website, here’s to the beginning of what I hope is a long and fruitful partnership.
Not to change the subject, but my mother is also reading the manga.
She drives a forklift around at work, spends her lunches and breaks reading light novels and manga, and sends e-mails not to the editorial department but directly to the author, demanding to know when the next volume will be released. She is a passionate (perhaps too passionate?) fan.
Just like Mamako, her son tends to find her enthusiasm a bit overwhelming…
Or perhaps I’m just writing this mom light novel as I should.
Midwinter 2017, Dachima Inaka
