Chapter 1470 Let Me Take This Burden
This Earth god has suffered great damage, his right arm was gone, as well as his eyes, and a major chunk of his face, torso, and what was left of his limbs were barely being held together by a few strings of flesh.
White flames covered him like a shroud, and hundreds of red skulls chomped on his flesh, crushing themselves in their attempt to carve out even an inch out of his body, and no matter how many skulls were destroyed in their attempts to consume the Dark One, there were still so many left, waiting for their chance, the relentless flood of screaming skulls had never stopped flowing, it was as if the entirety of the continent's vengeful souls were heading towards this location.
The fifteen-foot frame of the Earth god was filled with so many traumatic injuries it was hard to imagine how he was remaining on his feet. Yet he still stood, and there was a sound emerging from his chest, it was almost like laughter, but Rowan could detect the note of disbelief within it.
The attacks of the mortals had been terrible, but during their onslaught, they had inadvertently destroyed one of the tendrils pumping corrosive poison into the veins of the Dark One, there were two left in his body, and they appeared to be coming loose, it would not take much to tear it loose from his body, but that depends on whether the Dark One was fit enough to take advantage.
However, Rowan knew that victory was not close, no matter how grievously the injuries of the Dark One appeared, and even though this Earth god no longer had the Aether or Essence to heal himself, his vitality was something that was almost impossible to be described by a mortal's mind, unless he was grounded to dust, he would still have a way to fight, his combat ability was still dreadful and he was about to be free.
Still invisible, Rowan landed with both feet on the shoulder of the Earth god, driving the surprised being to his knees and he slammed his blade into the spine, straining every muscle in his body, he roared inside his heart as he bent the blade to the side, snapping it in half, leaving the rest embedded in the spine of the Dark One.
He felt a large burst of wind heading towards him and Rowan launched himself away from the Dark One as what was like an explosion powerful enough to rip the continent in half tore past his previous location, which had simply been the Dark One swiping across the air with his left hand.
Rowan may have launched himself backward, but his legs were still wrapped around the neck of the Dark One, and immediately as he felt that swipe brush past him, he tensed the muscles of his legs and core, slingshotting his body back to his position, the left arm of the Dark One was still upraised, and Rowan drove the remnants of his blade into the armpit of the Dark One, and this time he roared aloud as he bent the blade to the side to snap of its remnants, leaving only the hilt remaining with him. The left arm of the Dark One seized, almost frozen in place as the blade had slid in-between his joints, locking the arm in place, Rowan noticing that he had been successful with his attacks, pushed himself away from the Dark One, and it was just in time before a terrible scream erupted from the cornered half-god.
Its soundwave from that cry slammed into Rowan like a direct blast from a hurricane, banishing the invisibility around him and shredding through the remnants of his armor like it was made from paper mache. Rowan felt his ribs fracture, and his left shoulder, hip bone, and right wrist dislocate as he was slammed against the far end of the fleshy wall.
