The battle turned out to be much less intense than the one that had taken place between Yu Shan and Lu Yin. Palace Master Yao had done almost nothing at all, and neither had Lu Yin. Because of that, the entire exchange had looked like a performance.
Lu Yin frowned, already sensing that something was off.
"What do you want?" Palace Master Yao asked with a sigh, realizing that she had been deceived.
Lu Yin stared at Palace Master Yao. "Where is your Bifrost Sword? Where is your spirit weapon?"
Palace Master Yao replied, "I’ve already lost to you. Even if I used my spirit weapon, I still would have lost."
"I asked you, where is your spirit weapon?" Lu Yin’s eyes blazed with bloodlust, and a terrifying pressure fell upon the region.
Palace Master Yao could sense the man’s killing intent, and she instinctively replied, "It’s with the High Seraph."
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. "What did you just say?"
At that moment, Palace Master Yao suddenly coughed up blood, and it splattered in front of Lu Yin.
The woman’s face turned pale, and she swayed on her feet, apparently dazed.Lu Yin stared at the woman. He had not done a thing, and yet she had been badly injured. Actually, as he looked at Shui Hua, Lu Yin saw that Palace Master Yao’s injury seemed to be quite similar to what Shui Hua had suffered when her Frostsoul had shattered. Could it be?
"Why? Why?" Palace Master Yao muttered to herself in utter disbelief, even as she fell from high in the sky.
Lu Yin quickly caught the woman and shouted at her, "Was your spirit weapon just destroyed?"
Palace Master Yao stared blankly at Lu Yin. "How do you know that?"
Lu Yin let go of the woman, letting her drop and crash to the ground.
Everybody both within and without the Bifrost Palace was confused by what they were seeing. No one could understand what had just happened.
Lu Yin slowly descended, all the while staring at the severely injured Palace Master Yao. The High Seraph was truly ruthless.
The man had known that Lu Yin needed to find a way to mend his broken karma with Palace Master Yao, so the High Seraph had taken the woman’s spirit weapon before the battle. After Lu Yin had taken control of Palace Master Yao, the High Seraph had shattered her weapon.
Without her spirit weapon, Palace Master Yao was naturally unable to use the Bifrost Unscathed Sword.
Lu Yin’s knowledge of the Bifrost Unscathed Sword came from when Palace Master Yao had used her spirit weapon, Bifrost. Without Bifrost, it would be impossible for Lu Yin to ever mend that particular karma.
This was the High Seraph’s goal. Without raising a finger, no matter what Lu Yin did, it was now impossible for him to mend all of his broken karma.
They were in the High Seraph’s home, and he could play however he wanted.
As for Palace Master Yao, the High Seraph did not care about the woman at all.
At this moment, Palace Master Yao also understood why the High Seraph had said that, while it might have been possible for her to become a Seraph in the past, it was now impossible. The moment that Boundless entered the Spirit Nidus, her spirit weapon had become lost to her forever. Did the destruction of her spirit weapon mean that she was forever barred from becoming a Seraph?
She stared at the sky in a daze. She was nothing but a pawn. The real players were the High Seraph and the Tianyuan Megaverse. That’s right, it should actually be him, the Third Boss. He’s the one playing against the High Seraph.
She was just a pawn, and she had been shattered in a moment.
Hahaha, the greatest beneath the Seven Seraphs? Ridiculous! Truly just a joke.
Many things could only be seen clearly at the end.
For Palace Master Yao, she had reached her end. She had never dreamed that this day would arrive so soon.
Lu Yin stood in place. The water that had once surrounded the Bifrost Palace fell from the sky, soaking the Bifrost Domain and many of the spectators.
Everyone was staring at Lu Yin. The Third Boss had been victorious, even if his victory was mysterious. There was no denying that he had won. When looking at the two, Palace Master Yao’s miserable state left everyone feeling terrified.
The person regarded as the most powerful beneath the Seven Seraphs had just lost miserably. If the defeat was understandable, that would be one thing, but no one had any idea how Palace Master Yao had even lost.
Shui Hua’s eyes bulged, blazing with resentment and bloodlust as she glared at Lu Yin. A piercing scream rang out, "Members of the Bifrost Palace, kill him!"
"Yes!"
"Yes…!"
Figures shot out from the Bifrost Palace, wielding swords that slashed at Lu Yin. Streams of twining green streams of water appeared as people attacked with the Bifrost Unscathed Sword. Death was the only possible outcome.
Lu Yin suddenly coughed up blood. His surroundings became illusory and dreamlike. Where was he? The Spirit Nidus? The Tianyuan Megaverse? Or was he still in the Karma Sanctum? He was experiencing karmic backlash, and it was blurring the lines between reality and the cycle of karma.
Green sword qi sliced down around Lu Yin, but he just casually waved his hand. Blood scattered across the sky, staining the green rain red.
The rain of blood swept across the Bifrost Domain, piercing the void and even piercing through some people’s bodies. Those who were caught up in the bloodstorm were swept away by Lu Yin’s terrifying power. None of them had any ability to resist. Many of the onlookers fled, not daring to get any closer.
Lu Yin’s aura had become chaotic, but no one watching could understand what was happening to him.
Could he have been injured while fighting against Palace Master Yao? Perhaps his victory had not been as easy as it had appeared.
Shui Hua slowly dropped to the ground, unable to understand how Palace Master Yao had been defeated, even in the final moments of her life.
Palace Master Yao stared up at the blood falling upon her face. She did not hate Lu Yin, but rather the High Seraph. The High Seraph had used her and then ultimately abandoned her entirely.
The beauty of the Bifrost Domain, like that of Palace Master Yao, had been unmatched in the Spirit Nidus. However, at this moment, that beauty took on a hint of desolation and blood.
Lu Yin stood atop the blood and water, swaying on his feet. His gaze was dazed as he looked ahead, seeing Long Xi smiling at him in the rain. She was holding Little Xiaoxuan in her arms. The child’s innocent and carefree smile was so cute. When her bright little eyes locked onto him, her pupils were filled with his reflection.
That was his child. As the blood merged with the water, it resembled a crimson line of blood that ran through the world.
If a person did not cultivate karma, karmic backlash could hurt them, but if they had cultivated karma, then the backlash would be completely different. It would cause them to doubt reality, deny their own self, and question what had already happened and what might happen.
At this moment, Lu Yin felt like he had returned to the Mirari Realm’s forbidden region and was looking at the fruits once again. Should he eat them, or not?
Long Xi was waving at him.
Little Xiaoxuan’s clear, happy laughter echoed in his ears.
Lu Yin’s eyes suddenly flared as the trees and all the fruits that bore his face transformed into spirals of karma that shot high into the sky. They spiraled up endlessly, weaving into space until they connected with something far beyond. Then, endless karma replaced the stars, the universe, and everything else that Lu Yin could see.
It looked as though everything in existence was made from karma.
Everyone perceived reality differently.
The world of an ant looked completely different from the world of an elephant.
Did all people see reality the same?
Lu Yin was certain that that was not the case. He no longer saw the blue sky, white clouds, stars, or even darkness, but karma. A vast universe made entirely of karma. He saw an alternate reality, but was it also real?
Was his own existence derived from karma, or was karma derived from his existence?
Was he living for himself, or for others?
Lu Yin covered his head and waved a hand. Spirals of karma twisted around him: one, two, three. Soon, there were countless spirals. He was surrounded by everyone he had ever encountered. Each person he saw had some connection to him. He saw Nightking Zhenwu again, as well as Yan Gang, and all the others who had crossed his path.
The countless spirals of karma formed wheels of karma. His hand stabbed through the wheels of karma, and as time continued to flow, he saw countless versions of himself, each having made different choices and seeing a different ending.
Was his own existence derived from karma, or was karma derived from his existence?
Which was it? Which was it?
Lu Yin’s eyes grew bloodshot, and his heart started pounding so violently that it felt as though it was about to explode.
His entire body trembled as the wheels of karma around him continued to flicker and multiply, driving him towards madness.
At that moment, a pair of cold, sinister eyes opened far below. It was time. Their target’s aura had become so chaotic that success was finally possible.
The eyes belonged to a man named Bu Ya. He was from the Phantom Reach, and his spirit weapon was the Crushing Hand Flying Daggers. From when he had first started cultivating, he had solely focused on mastering flying daggers. Day after day, year after year, century after century, time without end. There had been no limit to his training with flying daggers. Sequence particles? He never mastered them. His innate gift? He had never learned to use it. Battle techniques? He never practiced them. He had focused on nothing but flying daggers. His obsession with the weapons had resulted in him acquiring the Crushing Hand Flying Daggers as his spirit weapon from his Spirit Transformation.
The Crushing Hand Flying Daggers started in Bu Ya’s hand. He had to press the daggers into his hand and then attack the enemy’s body.
He had practiced this same attack countless times with his Crushing Hand Flying Daggers.
If Bu Ya fought normally, he was not strong enough to go up against any sequence powerhouse, because he had never comprehended a law of the universe. However, when it came to surprise attacks, if he could seize the right moment, then he could instantly kill any expert. Bu Ya was confident that he could defeat anyone, including even Palace Master Yao even if she was proclaimed as the strongest beneath the Seraphs.
This was Bu Ya’s strength. His Crushing Hand Flying Daggers granted him a place among the top three in the Phantom Reach. The Three Assassins, who were also part of the Phantom Reach, had ranked fifth. Even when three sequence powerhouses worked together, they had still been ranked beneath Bu Ya. That demonstrated just how terrifying his technique was.
This time, his target was Lu Yin.
A flying dagger appeared in his hand. The blade was thick and dull, and it had no sharp edges. No one who saw it would ever think that this dagger had taken the lives of many powerful cultivators.
Bu Ya raised his hand. The flying dagger trembled in his grip and then instantly vanished. It reappeared right in front of Lu Yin, aimed right at the center of his brow. It was aimed at a place where the dagger would be able to reap his life.
Bu Ya was confident in his attack. His target was too unstable and unfocused. His aura was in chaos, and it was clear that he was about to lose control entirely. Bu Ya had been preparing for this moment for a long time, having infiltrated the Bifrost Domain without Palace Master Yao even noticing. This one attack would be enough to take Lu Yin’s life.
A Wheel of Karma appeared before Lu Yin. Actually, there were countless wheels of karma that had completely surrounded him. The flying dagger just happened to stab into one of those wheels, and the weapon left a trace of karma in its wake.
It was less than a moment, but for Lu Yin, it felt like an entire lifetime. He saw the rise and fall of this trace of karma. The rise started with a battleship by the name of Boundless that had arrived from the Tianyuan Megaverse. That vessel had crossed an unfathomable distance to reach the Spirit Nidus. The people aboard that ship had repeatedly violated the laws and edicts of the Ascendant Hall, antagonizing the entire megaverse. This was the origin of this dagger.
The fall was Lu Yin. The dagger stabbed into his brow, completing this wisp of karma.
However, the completed karma was not for Lu Yin. He was already dead. How could a dead person complete karma?
Since a dead person could not complete karma, what was the purpose of this karma?
Lu Yin’s eyes suddenly regained their focus as his pupils shrank to pinpricks. Time seemed to freeze around him. He lifted his hand and slowly grabbed hold of the dagger. What a dull flying dagger. Is someone trying to kill me? They’re down below.
Was it really a cycle of karma? That would become clear with but a glance.
Lu Yin pushed against the ground with his feet, splitting it open. Bu Ya was stunned. Had his attack actually been blocked? The moment the dagger was grasped in Lu Yin’s hand, Bu Ya had felt an indescribable sense of disbelief. How could anyone do such a thing?
Bu Ya was yanked upwards by an irresistible force and then slammed to the ground. He was right next to Palace Master Yao.
Bu Ya tried to escape, but then a face appeared in front of him. It belonged to Lu Yin.
Lu Yin stared at Bu Ya.
Bu Ya froze. At that moment, Lu Yin’s aura felt like it belonged to some sort of primal beast. Bu Ya could not control his own body, and he was completely immobilized. It felt as though his blood had frozen, and his mind went blank. All he could think about at this moment was the eyes and face before him.
